Tommy was red ranger (for a few episodes) but mainly Green (evil tommy pwned!) and white (which was still awesome!)

He was Red longer than he was White or Green. He was Red all throughout Zeo, and through some of Turbo.

I stopped watching as soon as they put a title after "....Rangers."

I almost did. I really should have. But then again, I'd've missed out on In Space's ending, which was a nice way to end the series

But having the best acting career among the Power Rangers cast is like having the best smell among your Mexican family: the bar is set pretty low to begin with, and even then, it's not like you take baths that often.

Someone sounds a bit disgruntled about our rising foreigner population

That's all the acting work she did. I don't know how she managed to earn money then since two small roles in failed movies can't pay that well. She must have opened up a dry cleaners or restaurant or grocery shop of some sort.

Sadly, Thuy died in a car crash while driving on a freeway in California on September 3, 2001, when she collided with another car driven by Angela Nguyen. This accident should serve as yet another tragic reminder that Asians cannot drive.

He also doesn't seem to fancy Miss Trang much, either

*sniff* I remember being in Wal-Mart many years ago (probably a decade ago) and seeing the Dragonzord toy. I was all like "omg omg omg," but it was $40 and my dad wouldn't buy it. So I took it and hid it under a lot of towels in this huge cart. I remember coming back like two days later and going through the entire cart...but it wasn't in there...:( 'twas a sad day indeed.

My DragonZord was actually given to me. The guy was a friend of mine who had grown out of it when Amy Jo Johnson left the cast (and by grown out of it, I mean, so pissed off he threw the DragonZord against the wall, and broke it).

Asians can't drive anyways. You either have the FOBS used to their country's roads or those annoying rice rockets. I'm generalizing, but you get the point.
Hey, I'm Asian and I can damn well drive! So don't be knocking us Asians, buster!

Just by the difference in video stock I knew it was from foreign TV. Presumably Japanese, because of the obvious Godzilla overtones. This and the awful lip synch issues. I made these conclusions at the age of 11, only having watched 5 minutes of one episode. "I'm not a smart man, but I know what crappy Japanese TV looks like."

Forever Red was the best episode of PR I saw. I started rewatching Power Rangers 2 years ago on Fox Family and got caught up in the plots. Then I started watching Ninja Storm(best series IMO) and finally had something to look forward to on Saturday mornings. Too bad it didn't last that long. The new series did a flashback on every PR series telling the story from the start, through the differnt series, and how it tied in to each other.

I stoped watching when that little kid became a ranger. Which should tell you that the footage for the fights are imported. How could a 11 year old grow 2 feet in a matter of seconds. I was glad they left his ass at home when they went to space.

Oh shit, I forgot all about the Falconzord.

That thing was a piece of crap. It didn't do anything except for snapping onto the back of the Shogun or Ninja Megazords.

Ninja Storm wasn't so bad, but it just reused things that had been done before (Ninja series in Mighty Morphin', evil rangers becoming good, nerd becoming a ranger (though the last time that happened was with Billy I think)).

Not like Power Rangers is a series to be praised for its complicated storylines anyhow. NS did feel a bit more fresh. The first episode made out the PR to be like these mythical beings long forgotten (one guy only read about them in comics..?), which wasn't too bad.

The Legacy of Power episode was pretty good even though it was basically a flashback ep. Forever Red wasn't too bad, and it was cool that they brought back some of the older villains.

Would have preferred there to be an ep where there was a hugeass showdown with all the rangers and their respective villains instead of Forever Red. Even though it would make no sense, have all the MegaZords come back and such.

What about the terrific acting jobs?

Watch Legacy of Power. It's a bit better in that you get to see the entire series up until that ep, basically (and there's not really a true story).

And oh how I hate that they make Tommy out to be the best ranger evar in Forever Red (and Legacy of Power).

Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80's but I swear to god Power Rangers (and most cartoons/shows for kids) suck(/ed) arse! Nothing comes close to the quality of He-Man, Ghostbusters, Transformers, or TMNT (although knew series has impressed me).

Well most kids shows suck arse. I think rare exceptions are Batman: The Animated Series and other DC cartoons.

And Thundercats > He-Man.

I meant the shows of the mid 90s and today particually. I don't know if it's nostalgia making me biased or not. Actually it's probably not as most of the 5 minute long Warner Bros cartoons are still best then 95% of kid's shows in the last 10 years.

You know I used to watch Thundercats but I cannot remember the show at all! The main cartoons, where I can recall characters and their names very clearly, are TMNT, Ghostbusters and He-man to an extent.

Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinky & the Brain, and Hysteria were all pretty good ones. Wish Cartoon Network'd show more of Freakazoid though.

The acting was, but then they didn't exactly have good scripts to go with. Most of the lines were utter cheese. And having Cole (red from Wild Force) with most of the lines was even worse since he can't act worth shit.

But the fight scenes were the best ever in a PR episode, not counting the movies. (Though some portions were probably better than TAPRM). They were pulled off extremely well, and the slow-motion-matrix-esque technique added a lot imo. The SEs were top notch too.

The only major problem I had with Forever Red, was that Cole was able to completely destroy Serpentara with his fucking speeder? WTH! All of the Thunder Zords combined weren't able to take that thing down back during MMPR, and somehow Cole manages to just fly through its mouth with his speeder and it blows up? BULL SHIT PLEASE. Using the Beetle Borg costumes as the main villians also sucked, but at least they tied them in with the Machine Empire...which kinda makes sense.

And Tommy is not the best. Jason is. kthx.

Kenji Ohba is the man! He also played several roles in serveral toku shows including his recent appearance in the Japanese version of Ninja Storm(Hariken). Speaking of Space Sheriff, Saban used the third Space Sheriff Shaider(quite popular in the Philippines) for the 2nd costume in the 2nd season of VR troopers for Ryan Steele:

Cool. Do you have these episodes on your PC or VCD? I've seen whole sets of MMPR, Zeo, and Turbo on VCD on Ebay a few times and I'm thinking about getting them.

Also, this thread needs more Psycho Ranger luvin':

Best Ranger villains of all time. And Psycho Pink is the only villain in the history of PR (American) to literally kill a Power Ranger. (Kendrix from Lost Galaxy)

Is there a site where I can see all the zords (whatever the hell they were called)? I remember in the original series there being:

The first normal big zord... normal big zord with green zord... the samurai looking big zord... and then the movie zord? There was also a ton of other upgrades like something that appeared like a Brachiosaurus and I also remember there being voltonesque tigers at one point (this had to be in 96 because I'm sure I stopped watching the show during that year). Did the movie or white ranger come first? I remember still watching it when the white ranger was introduced.

The Red Dragon Zord that came with the Thunder Zords owned the house.

There wasn't a Wildforce/Ninja Storm teamup because of the shift from Fox -> Disney also the fact that union contracts are different from here and New Zeland(Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder are now filmed in New Zealand and no longer in the US). However, there might be a Dino Thunder/Ninja storm teamup this year if all goes well. That Dino Thunder ep where they basically mock Abaranger just didn't sit easy with me >_<

I know that and I thoguht Sloan confirmed a DT/NS crossover already?

Shouta, Rocky wasn't needed for the Forever Red reunion. What would Rocky suit up as since Jason returned as the original Red Ranger? Plus he was a hack... :p

I know that but it still sucks that he didn't at least get a cameo appearance. He was a damn good Red Ranger (and later Blue in Zeo). Not as good as Jason but jesus he was better than Cole in Wild Force or Carter in Lightspeed Rescue.

Zeo was alright, but Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost, and other originals left which really sucked. Original Zeo MegaZord wasn't so bad, but it was a cheap ripoff of the Thunder MegaZord.

I liked Zeo but I didn't like the way they wrote off Yost in the show (he had contractual issues with the show and didn't like the direction being done with the series). Zeo had some awesome concepts though and Catherine Sutherland was hoooooooot. The Super Zero Zords were damn cool too.

I only saw the first ep of Ninja Storm- what a freakin' ripoff of TMNT. Still better than the utter garbage that was Turbo. Even in 1996 or whenever the show was on, I wanted to stab that kid in the face over and over.

No way, Turbo > Ninja Storm. Oh and Justin looks soooooooo bad now. -_-

Forever Red was the best episode of PR I saw.
Forever Red was an alright episode great coreography for the series and nice special effects but the plot and pacing were ass. It could've been better but it wasn't bad at all. Really good for nostalgic value.

And oh how I hate that they make Tommy out to be the best ranger evar in Forever Red (and Legacy of Power).

One of the reasons for this is that Tommy was a big fan favorite and has been since he was introduced as the Green Ranger (btw, the Green Ranger arc fucking owned). His screen presence was enormous and he had a lot of female fans IIRC (he also had the 2nd largest stint on the show I think while David Yost I think had the longest). Jason is still the best Red Ranger and I'm still a big fan of David Yost/Billy.

Ninja Storm wasn't so bad, but it just reused things that had been done before (Ninja series in Mighty Morphin', evil rangers becoming good, nerd becoming a ranger (though the last time that happened was with Billy I think)).

Ninja Storm was god awful in that it not only reused a lot of the same ideas presented in the series before it, they also didn't do anything with or underdeveloped some plots that could've made it really good. The voice-overs were even worse than previous series and the humor and comedy for the series was absolutely horrendous. It also shifted the focus to "hip kids" instead of the more "mature" teens and there was a subsequent change in the tone of the writing for the series. Cam was a good Green Ranger though.

However, NS is ten leagues better than the garbage known as Wild Force. Sweet god that series was bad. Bad casting, Bad Actors, bad plot, bad premise, bad villains, Just bad bad bad bad.

I still think the first Power Rangers movie was pretty good. :-\

You're not alone, the first Power Rangers movie is damn good from an entertainment standpoint. My only complaint is the lame zords (although I like some of the things they did with them) and the ultra-lame Ivan Ooze.

It was. Though the whole 'ooze' concept was pretty ignorant, the rest of the movie had really good action sequences and a decent plot. (Although I wish finding the 'Great Power' would have had a bigger effect than simply restoring their powers and reviving Zordon.)

The suits were ten times better looking. The metallic armor made things seem less cheap and slightly more realistic. (And a huge lol to the moments in the actual series when they tried to replicate the 'metallic armor' by sprinkeling the spandex with shiny sparkle powder.) However, while the suits were better, the zords...were not. The CGI was horrendous, and the Ninja Mega Zord was attrocious. It didn't even have a fucking face aside from a silver metal plate and three holes. The Ninja Megazord in the series was ten times better.

No dice :(
I really didn't like Zeo as much and when it started to air(I did watch the Gold Ranger arc though). I practically stopped watching Power Ranges from then. Not until In Space came along that I started to watch the series again, and then stopped when Lost Galaxy aired :p
I started to watch the Japanese series of each iteration instead and compare that to the stateside version of each show.

He did confirm it, but I wasn't sure if it was going to air this year or early next.

You are out of your mind Shouta since Dana from Lightspeed Rescue was soo much hotter than Kat :p

I really only watched a couple of eps of Ninja Storm(Most of the early eps, the introduction of the Goraijers and Cam as the Green Samuari). So much potential to go with if Ninja Storm followed the Shuricanger arc from Japan where it had you guessing the real identity of the green one was...but alas was wasted :(
I do agree that the voice dubbing was pretty bad in the show when they were in their suits. Everytime I heard "dude!" I was banging my head against the wall. Could you tell me how Ninja Storm ended?

Shouta

Member
Ninja Storm ended with a Supercharged Lothar (forgot how he was supercharged) invading and the NS rangers trying to fight him off. He steals their powers during their battle. Lothar's plan was to open a rift and let all the evil within it out (IIRC) and what happened was as he was opening the portal, he was knocked into it by the Rangers (I think). He had the NS powers with him, so Lothar and the NS powers were sealed in that chasm of evil. Yadda Yadda, the NS crew became teachers at the Ninja Academy and those two villain girls became students there. Been ages since I last saw it.

No, I meant the way that they make him out to be the greatest Ranger of all time. I know he has a lot of fan fare, but everyone standing there as Tommy walked off saying, "WOW, THERE GOES THE GREATEST RANGER OF ALL TIME" was freakin' stupid.

I too was always a fan of Billy. He actually became acceptable among people who thought he was a nerd before when he ditched the glasses and got the wolf zord (which pwns).

I also didn't like the way they wrote him off. But what I hated most was that he was in the Command Center and not really part of the team anymore. Wasn't there an ep where he became a ranger again, though?

Nah, he stayed on Aquatar. Would have been nice if Billy made a cameo during the last 2 eps of In Space since they did show the planet Aquatar being attacked.

I never knew about that Japanese stuff, either (I was in 2nd grade when I started watching so I wasn't trying to analyze the show). I stopped watching as soon as the original characters left...when they started making that "Zeo" "Space Rangers," and all that other crap.

No, although they did make it seem like he was the Gold Ranger for a few episodes. They would never have him in the same scene when the Gold Ranger was around, and then he would show up just shortly after and go "What's up guys?" They were making it so blatantly obvious that it had me convinced he was the Gold Ranger for a while.

But then once the Gold Ranger was revealed to be Trey, everyone was slightly disappointed that it was a nobody. :p Although once Trey lost the ability to use the Power Staff, the obvious choice was to give the powers to Billy. While they were trying the transfer of power, Billy's body automatically rejected it, and he later explained that this was because he and the rest of the rangers were inside the old Command Center while it was imploding, and this somehow contanimated his system thus causing the Gold Ranger powers to be rejected.

This pissed off a lot of fans, since they were setting it up to be Billy as the sixth ranger. Even some of his comments were so depressing: <Zordon> The five of you will need to blah blah blah. <Billy>...There used to be six.

To be honest though, I had no clue they were going to bring back Jason as the Gold Ranger, and I don't know of anyone else who did. When Tommy suddenly thought of someone else who could possibly take control of the Power Staff, I could have sworn he was thinking of his stupid native american brother or whoever that played such a pointless fucking role in the series. But needless to say I was really glad to see it was Jason once he took off the glasses and bandana. ^-^

Actually, David Trueheart in the show was actually Jason David Frank's real brother O_O. He died in 2001 though.

Yeah, meant to appease the fans =|. He was leader in 3 different iterations (well costume changes) of Power rangers though.
