This is a dangerous intellectual road to tread. It's exactly why First Amendment protections are so strong in this country. Lots of sentiments we now take for granted were once considered disgusting and dangerous because they might "brainwash" people.

This event should be a textbook case for why hate speech laws should exist.
If the law doesn't protect you from hatred some people will feel the need to take matters in their own hand.
If the government can't protect you or your fucking high school from folks like this sometimes private citizens will be driven to taking up the roll in dangerous ways.

A lot of people underestimate the impact of emotional bullying versus physical bullying. Being constantly ridiculed, having no friends, feeling suicidal etc. is often worse than getting punched.

What law will deal with it? When hate crimes spike because of hate speech, the people who made the speech don't get punished. The law deals with the symptoms, not the cause.

Being a rape advocate isn't illegal. He's just indirect enough to skirt relevant laws. It's not a direct, "explicit" threat. "Just" him saying they'd deserve it if it did happen.
Now you can see why sometimes the reactions get extreme. Because otherwise people like him don't get punished until they finally do assault someone (at which point literally no one is surprised).

It is entirely possible and common for a person to have no moral objection to a crime being committed while still acknowledging it is a criminal act.

The thing is, in this school how many people are struggling with their gender identity already, how many feel all eyes on them and the pressure such things brings.
They see an assclown like this out there, the first thought it "whatever, cops or teachers or security will get rid of them" you know, do their job and offer some protection.
Instead they keep seeing him out there and it is a quick lesson that nobody is going to.
He gets to do what he wants. You get to suffer. Think if anyone in that school HAD been raped? How would that fucking have felt?

He's straight up wrong too. Threatening with rape is absolutely illegal. It falls under the definition of terroristic threat. In the same way that it's illegal to tell someone you're gonna murder them.
It isn't necessary to dismiss the arguments against a bat to the head as having come from a person who doesn't understand the horrors of rape, doesn't feel empathy for rape victims, doesn't think this guy is an absolute asshole and/or doesn't think what he's saying is absolute garbage. Those may be your personal reasons for thinking it's ok to hurt him but thinking it isn't ok doesn't mean they don't agree on every count you're using to support your position.
