Yeah, the guy I heard talk about it on stubru was an absolute moron. At least, from what I heard. He actually said that Trump "touched his heart".

Europeans are more accustomed to politicians like Trump, believe it or not, and especially in this post-Brexit world. So the whole "experience" and temperament thing doesn't phase them as much as it does Americans, and those bits about feeling sorry for Pennsylvanians and Ohioans because of trade struck a chord with a lot of people in Europe too.

But the stakes are much higher for the American people, and other issues like racism, sexism, Obama and birtherism have more impact too in America, as well as what to do with America's huge power in the world.

I saw a few pages back also that some Irish commentators thought the debate was a "draw".

There's no way for a woman, especially in this position, to sound informed and authoritative without being dismissed as condescending and inhuman. They may as well being saying she should sit with her legs crossed when men are in the room. It's horseshit.

Yup... It's easy to say she was condescending, but when she brings policy ideas and experience to a debate where her opponent had nothing beyond "NAFTA was bad but stop-and-frisk is good", what do you expect? She schooled him on nuclear weapons and the Iran deal, but people of a certain mentality will always read that as condescending or smug, not informed, experienced or diplomatic.

I'm not surprised. I saw a couple of Europeans convinced that Trump isn't racist!

Watching this late.

My god, Donald is fucking destroying Hillary on NAFTA and TPP. She comes off as very defensive and evasive.

Can you imagine the talking points if Bernie was up there and could call Trump out on his bs, like exporting his own jobs, without sounding like a hypocrite? America, you done fucked up.

Killthee

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!
Hopefully next time they will appoint a competent moderator and force each candidate to actually talk about their policies in detail instead of spouting political platitudes and ad hominem insults. Must be one of the worst debates I've ever watched.

Belgian national television called it a draw by the way, a very boring and substantionless debate.
I have high expectations for the next one. Martha Raddatz will be co-moderator and she's not gonna let them walk all over her.

Oh, you're in for a treat.

Half watching the debate now with a cup of tea.

I don't know what it is, but its quite sedate. Trump's ramblings just kill off any debate, conservation and policy talk. All Hilary has to do is just stand there and go .. there you go! She done pretty well to decipher his gibberish. You can tell that is such a large gulf in terms of intelligence, class, thought and ideas. It is just whether the average voter can connect with that, like obama did.

Hilary has a lot more to give, but i think she knows she can go up about 8 gears, but she will just use it for when Trump goes full trump.

As for Hilary, being English, i think she is well spoken, calm, intelligent, and i think there is quite a bubbly personality underneath her facade (gifs on various pages show that) and it would be nice to see more of that. First time i felt, yup i would be happy with this women as the president of the Untied States.

I guess this debate revealed nothing that we all ready new. Maybe just emphasises that Trump is way out of his depth. It's ok to have an opinion, his voice should be just used for protesting and being an activist for what he believes in. Should no where near be a preidentional election.

Haha just got to his 400lb pound hacker comment.

/o\ oh god and his we come up with the internet comment.

It was basically the political version of this.

Even most of /pol/ is admitting that Trump got rekt. Something I've never seen this entire campaign cycle.

I had to listen to the radio at work to catch the debate, and the station I pulled up on my phone was some rando conservative talk show thing so I ended up catching their pregame stuff. The preemptive DC was strong. Dude was channeling Reagan and Nixon with stuff like "well, the MEDIA ELITE(tm) said Reagan was trounced by carter but the AMERICAN PEOPLE(tm) loved reagan more so he won in a landslide!", and "Nixon won the debate with his words but Kennedy won due to those dastardly lights making Nixon sweat!!!"

just like, lol dudes take the L already >.>

When Trump talked about bringing back law and order during the question about race issue, is he talking about the tv show? Cause it makes more sens this way.

So the way I see it Trump kind of won. Hillary performed better but she was expected to perform better because she isn't batshit insane. Trump on the other hand did better than expected, which if you are undecided(how the hell are you undecided) might make you think he isn't a complete moron like others would have you believe (spoiler alert: he is)

So on the job of convincing those in the middle...

It's not really a fair fight.
You have a highly intelligent, well educated, over-accomplished and qualified candidate versus a failed reality tv star with a checkered business history.

What did you think would happen? Of course Trump was gonna win!

hilary doing the stump

trump doing the trump

Overall if you've seen one trump debate or one clinton speech this cycle you really didn't miss anything.

Really?

Trump saying that attacking an Iranian ship wouldn't start a war?
Trump saying Rosie deserved his abuse?
Trump talking over Hillary Clinton over-and-over? (His handlers will have told him how badly this plays.)
Trump saying Stop-and-Frisk was good?
Trump groaning when Hillary said "Vibrant African American Communities"?

This is mostly all new, and with such a high-profile debate, this is definitely new to a lot of the electorate.

cnn and ppp did a poll afterward and it registered pretty firmly as a clinton victory. 35 point win in the cnn poll and 11 point win in the ppp poll and over 50% on both.

cnn also had a group of 20 undecideds in florida watching the debate and 18 of them said clinton won. on every major news channel it was basically registered as a clinton win.

it's pretty unanimous that trump lost big time. i don't think there are going to be more undecideds breaking for his rambling incoherent replies.

I think this debate can't really be analysed as a normal debate. Of course, by every margin, Trump lost. I mean, he can't even conjure up a grammatically correct sentence half the time. He lied, was rude, admitted to being a scumbag who uses law loopholes for profit and behaved like a 5 year old at times. I mean, of course he didn't won the debate as a debate.

But this behavior is what got him here. The whole "politicians suck" speech, the racist remarks, the fear of China. Clinton was very reasonable and eloquent but how many people want that vs the ones that hate Trump? I mean, the fact that were even tied in the polls going in is insane.

I hope people listen to reason but at this point I don't know.

His exporting of jobs is not an effective attack point because he's already demonstrated that as a businessman, all he cares about are profits. He argues that he would implement huge tax cuts on businesses so they do bring back those factory jobs, which probably includes his parts of business too, no need to press further as you can see his rebuttal.

Belgian national television and Irish radio are crazy apparently.

Not crazy but different standards for what a good debate should be I suppose. Catchy one-liners, witty retorts and personal attacks are not really valued here. Hence why Clinton polled up to 90% in a Belgian poll a few months ago.

To then see this debate turn out in yet another circus show (I've watched enough of those during the Republican primaries) instead of a discussion about policies is a real shame. Hopefully the next debate features better moderation.

Honestly, to me Hillary appeared the most likeable in this debate than she has in ages. Maybe being in split screen next to Trump is what did it, I dunno.

As I and others have pointed out, not even /pol/ admits Trump won. So just what are you smokin?

By far, my biggest take away from this debate is that, by far, Donald Trump would be one of the most hostile, annoying political opponents she'd ever have to face, and she wasn't fazed a goddamn bit. His schtick has obliterated the republican party, and Hillary shook it off like it was nothing. By contrast, gentle prodding at the very beginning of the debate completely took Trump off guard. If I'm looking at either of these people to have to deal with diplomacy with foreign leaders, Hillary looked way, way more capable. Donald Trump looked like someone who would get into fights, or get manipulated easily by smarter politicians.
