I imagine this will be harped on in the next debate, but the only thing really said about Global warming is that trump said he doesn't consider it a great threat unlike Hillary.

lol, what a moron. That's not something you say outloud.
Yeah, this is genuinely stupid as it's becoming harder and harder to deny climate change is happening, and sooner or later, you're going to look like an asshole to people who suffered the effects of this change.

I thought denialists had shifted to the "it's not our fault" line to keep plausible deniability while blocking environmental legislation. I guess Trump didn't get the memo.

Hey guys I missed the debates (will watch later) but from the posts it seems Hillary gave Donald a thorough thrashing!

Anyone got a good link of highlights?

Get your eyes checked. Immediately.

His business record is shite, better off running as a politician.

Yeah that's my point, he's shitty at business and that's what he views himself as first, so if politics come second, I don't see how he'd be any better there lol

Some people like to grade on a curve. Clinton did ok but Trump didn't whip his dick out on stage so he did really good this time.

No, he acted like a bratty five year old and actually bragged about his tax evasions. I'd say that Trump actually did a number on himself here and surprisingly even /pol/ seems to recognize he botched it up.

What happened at the debate was more or less the political equivalent of this...

Just started the debate. 10 minutes in. Who are the knuckleheads saying Trump started strong? This buffoon hasn't said shit.

I wouldn't say he won the first 15-20 minutes, just that he remained competent. I wasn't listening the whole time--at work--but somewhere around the 25 or 30 minute mark he just starts to go off the rails into crazy town, and Hillary clearly wins ever exchange from that point on.

Yeah, thinking back, this is probably her best attack of the night. She actually got him to basically admit he doesn't pay taxes because he uses loopholes for the rich. That's pretty infuriating.

The sad thing is, as long as it's legal, there's not much that can be done. But the effort these companies go through to find the tiniest possible loop hole and make the most out of it with their armies of lawyers and financial wizards still is fucking disgusting and Trump like many others is so damn proud about it "yeah I didn't pay a cent, that's because I'm smart!".

He was also talking about those poor rich companies parking their money abroad, because they can't bring it back...lol, of course they could, they just don't want to pay their share!

Holy shit I just got to the "I also have a much better temperament than she has" and the crowd starts laughing. Is this fucking real life? Is Trump incapable of telling the truth?

What do you think Clinton's biggest hit on Trump was?

He seemed most surprised and shocked by the mention of Alicia Machado. I would have loved to see that conversation go further.

Trump was doing a bit of self immolation, so nothing she said makes like the top 5, but I enjoyed her, "just listen to that" response after Trump's disaster on the birther thing.

Yea, people wanna play the both sides card, but trump was literally incoherent at times. I started leaving the room when he would talk because it was just pure nonsense. I find it hard to believe anyone was intellectually stimulated by anything he said tonight. Dude proposed war crimes, which his surrogates have already had to spin once, then said firing on another country wouldn't start a war. He looks like a fool to any voter that he could've had a chance of swaying.

If you want to see a trainwreck moment for anyone with some political know-how, watch his response to the question about changes in the First Use Policy. He literally has no idea what it is. He's rambling on about Iran and North Korea, because he knows it has to do with Nuclear Energy in some way, but it's just this nonsense stream of consciousness. It shows an absolute lack of preparation from the Trump camp.

At that point into the debate

Im pretty sure both the Dems and Repubs were laughing at Trump. My god, he just buried himself.

It's not really a fair fight.
You have a highly intelligent, well educated, over-accomplished and qualified candidate versus a failed reality tv star with a checkered business history.

What did you think would happen? Of course Trump was gonna win!

I don't know if I'd call someone who had 14 seasons of a reality TV show a failed reality tv star. Seems pretty successful in that department to me.

Just started watching this. Completely lost it at "You've been fighting ISIS your entire adult life". Hilarious.

Edit: I feel embarrassed to have mixed up your vs you're.

So I've been watching this whole thing now. As just a random guy from Germany, I beg everyone from the US in here to go vote. Please do not take Hillary Clinton winning for granted, because it's not and it never will be. Trumps followers will go to vote, every single one, and if you guys don't, they will win. Don't count on others to vote, a lot of people will already do this.

Back here, as insane as it is, right-wing, neo fascist parties are on a rise, and this is only because the left feels like they don't need to vote, because "nobody in their right mind would vote for those parties, right?". It doesn't work like this.

If you're even remotely worried, please go and vote. Thank you.

Preparation is something only a crooked politician would do /s obviously

It especially pisses me off as a small business owner. I feel like I pay quite a bit in taxes, so when I see an asshole like trump weaseling out of paying his precisely because of special loop holes for the rich, it makes my blood boil. Taxes serve an important purpose, I recognize their utility. But everybody needs to pay their share.

Trump did better then I thought he would. I think for the first 30 minutes he was doing better then Clinton. After that he started to fall apart a bit and I think Clinton did a lot better then. Overall Clinton won.

I have to ask, after which segment do you feel he was doing better than Clinton?

Within the first 30 minutes, he boasts that he doesn't pay taxes because he's smart. One of Clinton's best blows is delivered in the first 30 minutes.

There was no point in that debate where I felt like Trump was winning or doing better. At best, he wasn't embarrassing himself for the first 15 or so minutes. But he was never doing well.

As a Scot, it's good to hear our culturally and physically distant relative Trump got relatively trumped. He's simulacral.

It undermines the layer of trust which underlies a tax system. Just infuriating.

Vox's count is even higher. They counted Trump interrupting Clinton 51 times. Clinton interrupted Trump 17 times.
http://www.vox.com/policy-and-polit...ial-debate-trump-clinton-sexism-interruptions

Hrmm - I thought I was pretty thorough. I did group some interruptions together when it was the same line repeated or during the longer back and forths where one interruption bleeds into another (seemed "fairer" to me that way for some reason :))

Vox has an agenda confirmed

He said dumb shit but he said it loudly and he stopped Hillary from talking a lot of times. Was that him winning via actual substance? No, but a lot of people don't want substance, they want zingers and insults, which is what he was able to deliver early on.

As the debate continued, it was clear Hillary was getting under his skin and she easily baited him a few times. It got pretty badly for him when she just let him ramble on like a crazy person.

Trump was bragging about how he doesn't pay federal income tax ("that makes me smart"). So I guess in Trump's mind if you do then you're stupid.

I hope he gets a ton of shit for that line and when he didn't even deny not paying that guy for his work. You'd be hearing about that for the entirety of Hillary's political career if she had said that.

Trump: I would release my tax returns, but I'm under routine audit!

Moderator: The IRS has said there's no problem releasing your tax returns while you're under audit.

Trump: I'M UNDER AUDIT ALL THE TIME LIKE EVERY YEAR something something EMAILS

That was so bizarre. How in the world is a tax-dodger an acceptable candidate?

Cause he's not a politician, you see. He doesn't play games. He's not the elite. He's just living life and telling it like it is. He really cares for the common man.

I loved Vox's "gendered media analysis" re Clinton. Crazy shit, man.

He tried to deny he said that immediately after the debate. Like, the very first thing he said in the spin room was "I'm so proud of myself for not even bringing up that Bill Clinton had an affair." then the second thing was "I didn't say I didn't pay federal taxes, nor that doing so was smart."
