I just can't shake it. I can't say it's over. Trump is different. Some people believe every single lie he told last night. He got fucking decimated and people are saying he won. That's the Trump mentality. Everyone is in denial about his lack brain juice. I wish I felt the same as you.

At this point I only believe he lost after the election.

Dude gave a boogeyman answer every single time with three targets- China, Mexico, and rotting America. No substance whatsoever.

She on the other hand laid out actual policy and some very well spoken language about change. The entire bar last night was flabbergasted by the time stamina and ISIS interjections began.

Last night, I felt reinvigorated that Hillary has this election in the bag. Now I'm back at work, and it's like reality is slapping me in the face. Every person I've asked believes Trump won. It's truly fucking bizarro land.
That's why I have been dreading these debates. Reason and fact do not matter.

Ugh Democrats who keep saying trump will win despite the evidence are getting good on my nerves. At his very best, and Hilary at her worst he was still down 2-3 points. She just destroyed him in front of 100 million people and more importantly the media is saying the same thing.

The loud tough, strong, and tremendous trump got destroyed by a woman. that's what it looks like right now.

I think you have faith in the American electorate when you shouldn't. People in this country can be really fucking stupid. People will actively vote against their own self interests and then bitch about those interests being compromised down the line. And this doesn't even look to be an American problem either. Look at Brexit. People just don't fucking think.

I work out of two offices. One is full of diehard Republicans and the other has more of a university liberal vibe. Working out of the latter today, so it'll be interesting to hear the reactions from both throughout the week.

When Trump was bragging about some hotel he built being under budget, I really wish Hilary replied something along the lines of "It's easy to be under budget when you don't pay your contractors Donald."

Just watched it.

A rather unsurprising outcome.

Trump was a bit more calm than I expected because she baited him on many ocasions.
He has no policy whatsoever.
His answers weren't extreme for the most part which I guess makes sense.
But he doesn't feel like a career politician.

Hillary was better on policy, but rarely got into specifics, maybe she thought it's not a place for that.

She was collected but didn't feel likable. For me she lacked some more emotional response to some of the bullshit Donald was spewing on things like race.

The worst part was Lester Holt, terrible moderator. He let Trump go over time constantly and didn't push him enough when he evaded questions.

A 2 minute debate format is not exactly conducive to a deep dive into policy discussion. If you follow thos stuff, she did a good job outlining yer policies, if you don't follow politics then she gave you a good jumping off point for your research.
On the other side, Trump didn't give anything substantive outside of one racist, unconstitutional policy.

But no one cares about Trump supporters, they're already lost. What matters is the undecideds, those republicans who don't want to vote for Trump, and the democrats who aren't on the Hilltrain. Those are the pool who will be swayed by debates. Early evidence has shown they were swayed in Clinton's favor.

It's not a done deal. If Trunp manages a strong devate performance in the next debate or two, he can close the gap. Or alternatively, this debate could not have the effect many think it will. But don't freak out over anecdotal evidence or buttheaded Trump supporters. The best you can do is wait and see what the polls do, because ultimately, that is what matters.

Being as objective as I can, Clinton had an okay win. Might even call it slim. She was losing the first quarter and then Trump went on the decline. He made comments that wouldn't work at all for the base for example. Saying he didn't pay for a job someone did for him because he didn't like it. Nobody in manual labor was happy with that, I can promise you.

Why the fuck is #TrumpWon trending on twitter? Did they seriously not watch that bloodbath last night? Wow.

Because he always has a built in excuse.

Hillary is wearing an ear piece, Hillary has notes, the moderator is biased towards Hillary, the whole entire media is biased towards Hillary.

So no matter how utterly insane Trump comes off, he always has an excuse to fall back on and his mindless drones eat it up because of: A.) DA EMAILS!1!; B.) DEY TOOK OUR JERBS! or C.) the mooslims.

JFC, he's an idiot. Most of the time he didn't know what he's talking about. How did he manage to become presidential candidate? He's an embarrassment to your country, Americans.

I'm glad I don't have to defend Hillary at work. Sports radio station and everyone is liberal enough to realize Trump is an idiot. It seems like sports media in general tend to lean in the liberal direction judging by our national feeds and opinions on things like Kaepernick.

A friend of mine has openly acknowledged that Trump is racist, bigoted, misogynistic and just all around crazy and would probably be a horrible President with negative effects on the country. When I asked him if he would be voting, he said no, because his vote doesn't matter.

Expect a lot of people to share that viewpoint and the fear of Trump winning becomes more relatable.

Mika on morning Joe (openly Democrat) is having a live nervous breakdown...
She admits Clinton was "pitch perfect" and that Trump was a rude flustered mess, but she still is psyching herself down that he will be perceived as winning by just being an Alpha male type.

Worst thing about this is, by being like that, she is helping him push that BS narrative.

The problem is that the BS narrative is all a lot of people can see, and they don't see it as BS.

I fully empathise with their breakdown.

In case you haven't noticed, a lot of americans know. A lot of people are completely repulsed by trump.

It could be another Brexit situation. Immediately after the result is announced: "But I didn't think he'd actually win", "I didn't vote because I didn't think it could actually happen"

I'm not even gonna try. Half my office listens to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity on the radio all day

Naturally they thought trump was "intelligent and presidential" throughout the whole thing last night

Trust me, we know. And so does everyone else here with a brain. Because it seema his supporters are lacking in that aspect.

I'm still trying to figure out how an overly emotional 70 year old man that whines and acts like a spoiled toddler can be considered "alpha". I'm not usually inclined toward blanket statements, but anyone that thinks Trump won that debate is an idiot.

I cannot wait for this election to be over.

If they were hardcore republicans, then it means nothing. If they are swing voters, then I am sad.

Basically. If they were already hardcore in the Trump wagon, the debate wouldn't change their minds regardless of how it played out. He could have walked over and punched Hillary, and his core supporters would find some rationale about how being tough like that is important. The only purpose to the debates is to sway the people that are undecided on who to vote for.

there's a difference between a healthy fear and just saying outright that he's going to win despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Any reason why Trump decided to hang his whole performance on stop and frisk?

I don't really see much talk on it but he made stop and frisk a key point of the debate last night. It's pretty much his platform now along with banning Muslims and building a wall.

I would think there would be more controversy on his stop and frisk policy.

I'm not saying that she shouldn't have notes, but watch the debate again and take just a sip of beer every time she looks down at her notes. You'll be blind drunk in 30 minutes.

Clinton should have addressed the camera and crowd more, something Trump certainly did (although it was nonsensical Trump speak the whole time), which is definitely a factor to why several people see him winning last night's debate.

Jesus fucking christ. I didn't catch the beginning of the debate last night and watching it now, the way Trump tried to talk (yell) over Hillary was really cringey. He sounded like a typical misogynist. I can't see how any self-respecting woman could vote for him.

Anecdote: I work with a few die-hard Hillary-hating trumpers and none of them have any sort of air of victory about them this morning. It's all very hedged "He did good but should have hit her harder on the emails" kind of talk.

He blew it when he spent the first 30 on the emails. He used his best move at the start of the debate.

Lester wasn't going to bring it up again since it consumed like 20-30 percent of the debate.

So now we're complaining that she took notes so she could respond to Trump's word salad properly?

No one thinks he won last night. Even the NYPost admitted he lost.

In the next debate, Clinton should ask him the expand on his stupid one-liners that make no sense.

Like: "You've been fighting ISIS your whole adult life".

She should have replied with something like:

"But you said president Obama created ISIS so how is it possible?".
or even a simple:

"What does it even mean?".

This is what irks me the most about Trump. 90% of what he says don't have any substance or meaning, but he's rarely challenged.

The most hilarious thing was trump acting like he was stumping and not debating he tries to prove his points like he was expected to be cheered on and all it looked like was him being a buffoon.

She was just TOO prepared. We can't have prepared people running for office!
I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I am at how many people are trying to contort anything positive out of Trump's debacle last night.

It says something when the bar is set so low that you have to lower it even further post debate because he failed to clear it.

Incredible. Even if Trump started smearing feces on himself you folks will say WELL HILLARY TOOK NOTES SO TRUMP WON.

She cannot rebut every lie that Trump regurgitates. It's like trying to stop a river with a cork.

Any "delicious memes" yet?

Has Colbert or any other host weighed in on the debate?
The current plan for his campaign is to rig online polls and tweet that he won overnight with the help of those delicious memers. Now Trump is pointing out how much he is "winning" to try to fabricate a narrative.

Trump played right into her hand. Just bait him, and stand there calm, cool, and presidential-like while Trump goes off on an incoherent rant. I found it interesting that quite often the camera angle on Trump still showed Hilary in the background so you could see her reaction. I still can't believe he said "I settled that lawsuit with no admission of guilt!". So many other good quotes from last night.

Strap on your hooker ...
When Trump was bragging about some hotel he built being under budget, I really wish Hilary replied something along the lines of "It's easy to be under budget when you don't pay your contractors Donald."
She mentioned that a contractor he stiffed was in the audience, the same one he brushed aside with "maybe he didn't do a good job" to validate his non-payment later in his answer.

I feel like she should have invited him to stand up and asked Trump to say that directly to the guy's face. As internet trolls hide behind their keyboards, so Trump hides behind the podium, slandering people only in broad strokes, never directly. Give him a clear target, put a face on the people he's left holding the bag. Force the billionaire to make the justification directly to the blue-collar worker on why he deserved to get screwed.

#TrumpWon is trending on Twitter but at least 1/3 of those tweets seem ironic? Or maybe I can no longer identify irony in this climate.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised but I am at how many people are trying to contort anything positive out of Trump's debacle last night.

Trump was being as stupid and idiotic as he always have been and people are still trying to get that he did something right. He fucked up completely, in every way possible. He proved Hilary's point of her quote about how a man who can get easily pissed off at a tweet isn't fit to be president.

This debate was the equivalent of a trapper setting every bear trap in a straight line, no foliage to cover them or anything. And the raging animal stepping in every single one, without fail.
