Pressing "NO TIP" when paying your barber is one of the most awkward interactions

You do realize that a good chunk of the price you pay for your haircut goes to the people that own the shop, right? Each barber/stylist generally rents a chair. Tipping has long been standard in the hair industry already, Mr. Pink.

Come on man. You know those chain cut barbers aren't getting paid much. I always tip $5 even though my cut takes 10 minutes. I appreciate the service and that this poor lady had to listen to me make small talk the entire time.

I've never been to a barbershop that wasn't cash only. Also not tipping someone you're continually trusting with your hair sounds like a bad idea.

Your plan to keep tipping barbers from being standard failed like...decades ago

Those numbers seem off tho, I think of 10-15% as the range for haircuts

I can understand not tipping for bad service and you didn't like your haircut. But you frequent this place...that's pretty odd.

Tipping culture is weird already, but if you're a regular, it would indicate that you prefer their services at the very least. Throw in a couple of bucks to show some appreciation, I say.

Anyway, you're a cheapskate, OP. God damn.

Just remember:

That's the point OP. You're being bullied into giving up your money with shame. You did nothing wrong. Remember you are giving the person money to begin with for a service -- their not the proxy to someone else whose actually doing the work whose getting paid. If they wanted more then they should have charged you more... what the fuck kind of bullshit is that anyway -- this isn't rational human behavior; nothing about it makes any sense. Good on you for not being a sucker.

If my barber wasn't cash only, I'd do this too
...no I won't, it's to fucking embarrassing :(
!

The type of barbershop that uses an app to pay barbers sounds like the type of barbershop that would open up across the street from Ice Cube's barbershop in Barbershop 2.

You killing me slate, you killing me. I bet he doesn't even politely listen to the Hook Up Man peddle his wares

I don't think the OP knows they aren't regular employees with a set wage. Often independent contractors who have to rent their chairs from the shop. The tips become a huge portion of their actual take home.

Its normal to tip a barber but I don't like how its becoming more common at fast food restaraunts to have a tip option at the register

I respect you OP
tipping is BS
but when presented with a situation this awkward even i would have tipped
thats why I respect your commitment

I've been going to the same barber for 20 years. I'm 25

Not tipping a barber if you're a regular is like unthinkable
For real. This thread reminded me I forgot to tip the last time I got a cut because we were busy chatting. And now I feel awful. Like, earnestly and legitimately embarrassed. I don't see how the OP even feels good about their hair afterwards.

First, It's so weird to me that people tip barbers.
Second, Are those normal prices for haircuts in USA? or only in the more expensive barbers?, I usually pay 2500 CLP (3.87 USD ) on a random store near my house, but the most I've payed was like 8 USD :s

Dude I live in Australia where tipping isn't a thing EVER and I still tip my barber. He does good shit.

I'd never tip a cab or restaurant though. Mainly because their salaries are fair.

irrespective of whether or not it effects your haircut, you should feel like an asshole. twice, if you're paying with a cellphone.

but it's a troll thread.

Tipping if for suckers

Like, do firefighters get tipped for saving children from burning buildings?

No

So why would I ever tip a waiter.

My views on this are very black and white
