I don't get why people think this thread is (also) so big because of the ps4 exclusivity. If this would ps4/xb1 (next gen only) , the thread would be even bigger. I have no doubt in this. Thousands of people bought dark souls and dark souls 2 on xbox360 and pc and loved it.
This "ps exclusive thread on SonyGaf = biggest thread" is bullshit.

Also thought E3 is still far away but it already starts with my first vacation day soon. Going to try to see all the conferences. Can't wait.

Because third party exclusives are rare and exciting?

That's the entire point.

Take a look at the technical cinematic masterpiece Quantum Break is hyped up into being. It's a joke compared to the gleams we have of Project Beast.
We have more gameplay footage of Beast than Quantum Break... and one is a leak not official.

I have no idea what to expect from QB... Beast will give me what I want.

1st-party published/funded games developed by external developers are not rare.

Forza Horizon, State of Decay, Gears of War, W101, Bayonetta 2, Ratchet, Resistance, Folklore, Hotshots Golf, Sly Cooper, Heavy Rain, Beyond, Mass Effect, Jade Empire, PGR, Crackdown, Dance Central.

Ok, but being exclusive immediately gives you attention that you would'nt get otherwise.
Take Sunset Overdrive for example, that game doesnt look anything special but somehow people care about it way more than they should have. Exclusivity does that to people.

OT: Do we know which team is working on Project Beast?

Supposedly the bulk of the team that made Demon's and Dark Souls, which is why people are upset about Dark Souls II being given to a supposed "B" team, as DSII didnt have the creator of the first two at the helm, whereas Project Beast supposedly does.

Souls games are never about graphics, but Dark Souls 2 was very technically proficient. And you can see what they were aiming for pre-downgrade too.

So I imagine as always this will not be the prettiest game this generation, but just by merit of it being next-gen, and From having had success with the Souls series, having a bit more money and therefore experience to throw at graphics, it'll be a pretty game.

In the wooded section alone, you can see the character casts two shadows. Presumably one from the environment and one from his lantern.

Sony will be throwing a lot more money in this proj than they did with Demon Souls both from a development as well as from a marketing perspective.

This gotta have online to be as great as demon's souls

But please, give us one big dedicated server like Demon's Souls had, not a crappy p2p scheme that hardly works like Dark Souls...

But I do feel in addition to that, the team has quite a lot of experience with this visual style but obviously explored some more advanced graphical opportunities with Dark Souls 2, before scrapping them. And certainly I feel what they achieved with Dark Souls 2 was actually still a really gorgeous game, and technically quite impressive.

Throwing money at it wouldn't or can't help as much as having previous experience.

you all have problems with xbox games dont you..

The two leaks with a week or two apart has garnered more exposure for this game than a single E3 reveal would have done. And the actual reveal is yet to come.

As a Soul fan there is nothing technically proficient about FROM not on console or PC.
Frame drops every where , bad collision detection after 3 games , hardly any effects , poor animation etc etc .
We all love there games but they have problems on the tech side .

I would not be disappointed if the game has no online aspect

Honestly I still hope it's different from the Souls series formula (invasions, summons and the like). I could play a single player From game just fine, or one with different ideas about online interaction.

Basically, Miyazaki shouldn't be doomed to create nothing but Demon's Souls clones the rest of his career like he would if this was the typical AAA series (unless he wants that, anyway).

Wat ?

We have not seen any proper footage of project beast yes, just some low level stuff and small gifs etc.

Quantum break has been shown at last E3, we know as much about quantum break performance as Project beast performance, nothing.

Quantum break insertion in this thread is just trolling.

Dark souls 2 uses a dedicated server by the way.

I was talking about the Demon's - Dark Souls 1 comparision, i obviously haven't played Dark Souls 2, but i'm glad to hear that it follows Demon's Souls steps in that regard :)

With more money and Sony's co develop i hope it doesn't have technical hiccups this time around

Personally, not. I wanted to play Dark Souls 2 though. But I was busy with my PS4 and as I kept reading interviews, I've somewhere seen an article that Dark Souls 2 might get a PS4 port. So, I skipped the PS3 version. But I think they've confirmed it's not going to PS4.

So, if this is a new Souls Game, that might be my first game of the series.

Just remember, that one is not a Miyazaki game.

I know this puts me in the minority, but I was never able to get into the Souls games. I love the lore, atmosphere, and especially art design, but I was never able to get past the controls and animation which felt more like PS2 level stuff to me at the time. I ended up putting all of my time into Dragon's Dogma instead, which was a flawed game in many ways but had such excellent controls and animation that the combat was always a joy to me.

The Project Beast footage looks like more of the same, which is great for the multitude of Souls fans, but not such great news for me. I was really hoping for an overhaul of the controls and animation, but I guess most people in here would exclaim that they have no problem with them, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Maybe technically proficient in general is an overstatement, I'll concede.

I just mean they've come a long way since Demon's Souls, especially looking at what Dark Souls 2 was meant to look like. Graphically and graph

But I'd have to disagree everywhere but performance. I remember being amazed with Demon's Souls specifically, purely because of the Water Veil effect. As for poor animation, I think the satisfaction found in the basic combat loop is testament to their quality.

Love how you say a multitude of fans will say how much they love the animation, and my post does just that right below.

Seriously, I love Dragon's Dogma too. And the combat was insanely satisfying in it, fast paced, almost arcadey. And great variety of moves more than anything, it felt like an action game. And then when I revisit Souls, I realise how satisfying that is too, it's strategic and weighty and feels much more skill-based.

I love both. I hope DD comes to PS4 eventually too.

You do realize at least a fifth of the posts in this thread are nothing but trolls questioning the legitimacy of this even being a PS4 exclusive (despite SCEJ's direct involvement)...right?

Sounds more like you don't want a Sony/PS4 thread to enjoy having the largest hype on the site, but that's what it is.

Enjoy your trip tho!

I am replaying demons right now and I still think it has very good animations. No body does better better badass walking animations then from imo.

No, I was jealous of PVZ and bought it for 360. Cant wait to get it on PS4.

I like insomniac games (always have), even when a 360 only player I always picked up them for my underused Ps3. Sunset overdrive will be good and will miss it.

Titanfall have on 360, not played it much, got old fast and went back to COD.

Most games I really like are big multiplatform AAA, the CODs, Mass effects, Borderlands. Last gen they were best on 360, this gen its Ps4.

Only Ps4 exclusives that I like are Second son and Uncharted 1&2 (3 did not do it for me). Not played TLOU yet (saved it for Ps4)

Did not play the souls games they seemed to not run that well last gen, hopefully they can put this right this time.

Would also love a proper coop feature in one of these games, not the summoning stuff.

Seeing how popular these Project Beast threads are makes me hopeful that this game could potentially be a system seller. I really do hope this game sells well, From Software deserve it.
