Thanks for the clarity regarding tuning - that's awesome!

One more for you guys / gals. How are cars actually "selected" in the career? I know you can't purchase cars, so are you just "given" one to use by your sponsor depending on what class you're racing or something? Haven't been able to find an answer to that one.

I need to save up for a new PC so I can get this. Really been enjoying all I've seen and heard about the game. I would love to try this with an Oculus though.

you work for a race team, so they provide the car for you...One thing I would love to see added (unless its already there)..is factory teams to race for...idk if there is any licensing issues with that, but it would really add some realism

Exactly what I was wondering actually. I suppose in my mind I imagined it like F1, where a driver is signed to a certain manufacturer - Ferrari (I know, not in the game), or Mercedes, or whomever, and you would race in that make of car.

Granted, this isn't a deal breaker in any sense of the word, beyond psyched to actually get to play this game when life doesn't get in the way. Besides, F1 game coming out in June, so I'll get my Ferrari fix from that.

it will be hard for the formula cars, since they are basically just generic formula style cars...so it would be hard to assign manufacturers to them....

but I assume (and this is a major assumption) that if they have the rights for cars like the GT3 cars, that they would have the rights to use the manufacturers names and create a generic "Team BMW" for the GT3 series and such

Well that made a difference.
Just got a cheap Microsoft force feedback steering wheel off eBay and this game (and possibly other racing games when I try them) Feels way better.

Should have done that a long time ago.I'm crap at this game still but now I feel more in control.

Round 3 Caterham Academy

Game could really use some tweaking of the AI starts. They are ridiculously slow off the line. I accidentally skipped qualifying and had to start in last (20th), and I overtake half the field by the first turn.
Decent little race from that point though. Bumped on a guy on the second lap and lost some real momentum that may have landed me on the podium.

Really loving the game. I really has come a long way from the last versions I played.

Started my career with the Clios. Can't believe how loose the default setup is. Such a pleasure getting the perfect lap in with the back end sliding around.

Guys is there no way to skip the races I don't want to partake in during career? I don't want to do classics, I entered the race, retired to pit hit skip to end of session, it took me to the next month, and I missed all the races I wanted to race in.

There is an option to jump to the next event.

I'll have to do the same I guess. I deleted the game and reinstalled it and the update and it seemed to work for one race and then was doing it again.

Oh well. I'm only on my first season still since I spent a lot of time in free practice and solo races. I read elsewhere that it may be triggered by returning to pit box to adjust and may be avoidable by restarting instead if you want to adjust things. I'll give that a go and if it fucks up again I'll shelve it until a patch and go back to

Edit: it seems some glitches are isolated to invitational events. So I'll just finish this one, likely in last place, and see if it fixes itself in my career after that. I bumped a thread with similar issues on the game site's PS4 technical issues forum so hopefully it will get added to the list of known issues they're keeping up over there and get patched soon.

Well, this issue got added to their list of known issues thread below, so hopefully it will get patched soon.

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sh...ad-(PS4)-Not-for-bug-reporting!-Updated-14-05

And here's the thread about the lost FFB and car tuning settings for anyone having similar issues who wants to bump it in hopes of it getting addressed sooner.

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sh...ngs-saved-in-garage-different-when-in-a-event

Finally, here's some links to some settings in Excel and PDF format, respectively, posted on that site for every car that seem like good starting points. There are two sets of settings depending on how much of the SOP (feeling for rear or car) you want in the FFB.

You can only do races you are invited to or have a contract with. So if you have a 250cc kart contract it'll skip you to the next 250cc kart race or invitational if you got any invitations.

Awwwwwwww man so I'm stuck in the classics it seems. Thanks for the info.

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Interesting that the clock for time spent playing doesn't count any menu navigation or watching replays, sitting in the pitbox monitoring the race etc. I've easily put in 30-40hrs over the last 9 days with my longest continuous session being almost 5hrs yet my stats say I've played a total of 22hrs.

I'm probably the opposite end of the spectrum than most. I like road and cars based off road models over any super cars. Hoping I'll still enjoy the game when my career bumps me to those levels.

How can this be?
They handle bad, and you control worse?
I haven't driven them yet in this game. I think you misinterpreted my post.
I just have more interest in cars that I would at least have a chance at driving in the real world.
Not saying I would hate the other cars, but they aren't where my interests generally lie.

This is so dumb.

A week on I still can't play the game (XB1) with the wheel as I get CTD and the controller feedback is fucking horrible both stock and with the 'best' settings from Reddit.

Absolutely collosal fuck up.

I have been playing mainly solo events since release (after a good 7/8 hours of getting the controller settings to a playable state - xb1) and had good fairly OK with no assists (bar ABS) on 90% difficultly.

Decided tonight to try career, starting out in karts...big mistake. The karts section of the game feels broken - the handling is all over the place and unpredictable from one lap to the next, the steering locks on certain directions forcing a restart, the frame rate is appalling...I could go on.

This section should have been dropped while play testing IMO.

only reason I'll see the karting through is because I want to do the zero to hero career. I hoping super karts are a little better.

Xb1 patch needed ASAP.

That trophy seems pretty hard to do for me. 0.1 seconds is so little. I haven't tried to be fair. Is there a trick to doing it or did you just get it on luck during a race?

For all of you looking for the best controls for the dual shock 4. All you have to do is set the steering sensitivity to zero. What a huge difference!!! I've tried all the different suggested settings and this is by far the best!! If you already changed the settings just reset the controller settings and then adjust the steering sensitivity. This will probably work for the Xbox also.

This game doesn't seem to like the suspend feature on the xb1. Game is laggy or gets stuck loading the last few times I've resumed it.

It'll just take practice and consistency. Did it in f1 games countless times just by playing the shit out of the game and perfecting lap times.

I remember when I saw it for the first time. It took some time to unlock. Then I deleted my achievements for the release of the game and know which was my firs achievement unlock? Yeah, this.

It's not as hard ass it looks. Circuit racing is about repetition, after all.

Finally fully turned off my driving line crutch. Find myself learning the track with a couple laps in practice, and then maybe 2-4 laps in qualifying before the race. Definitely easier on the eyes and records better.

Ahhhhhh I see I was in the same boat as you, until I tried driving a RUF or the Audi, When I realized There were uncontrollable, i started racing Formula Rookie, and I was like yeah this game is good.

You made the right choice. Some time ago a friend of mine came by and I showed him the game. I turned the map on and told him to drive (Brands Hatch Indy, very easy to learn track). He had a lot of problems because he was focusing on the map. I eventually turned the map off and he started to drive properly. Driving line is even worse. Instead of concentrating on your car, you concentrate on some weird line that you need to follow, you don't really know why.

On the video itself, you want to brake way sooner than you do. If you brake sooner and take turns with full grip, you will save a lot of time.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it so far. Wish I still owned my wheel, but whatever, I'm not having any problems with the DS4 on PC. Game could still be in the incubator for a bit, but by and large, I'm very happy with what I'm getting out of it.

Yeah, I see no need for the map at any point because I never looked at it. The line I was using because I really wasn't used to this game's physics. Once I got a little more comfortable with that, I could just deal with the rest.
As for my driving, I don't doubt there is a LOT of things I could do to be faster. I was a part of the GT5 NeoGAF Racing League and I was always a middle to late pack driver. Some great times racing though.

Night racing is tough without the line if you turn on visual cues it helps but hard. For me anyway

Night racing in a car with no headlights fucking blows. Bunch of friends and I tried it and holy shit this game gets dark. Normally there's some amount of gamma but not in this game, night = black as fuck. I wish Battlefield could make night maps like this.

Circuit driving is all about taking visual cues from the track itself. Cues that can't be moved or broken, if possible.

One of the basics about driving is being constant in your times. This is achieved by doing the same lap after lap. So, the more precise the braking references you can find, the best you'll do. The less thinking, the less improvising. So by finding good references, you'll start being more solid, and your pace will improve a lot.

When you're concentrating on the line, you're blind to any reference. It's like playing a Guitar Hero song for the first time. All your attention is put on when the next dot will be green, yellow or red. I'd recommend turning line off, look for good reference; trees, billboards, signs, colored walls,... whatever that helps you. Braking marks are not good in this case because they're too dependant on light conditions and are hard to anticipate. Once you have these, racing at night will not be that much different from racing in the day. You will be slower, yes, but it will not be an adventure anymore.

Edit: Fun MP race with the Renault Clio Cup @ Donington National. I cut half the race because once I got to 2nd position, everything was the same, lap after lap. Still, very fun ad entertaining first half:

Sweet thanks for the tips. I will try. On another note...

I love my settings for open wheel, touring, gt racers, protos etc but man, I have to switch it for Road cars to mode 3 with heavy speed sensitivity to stop the twitching wheel. Not fun otherwise

Thinking about pretending they don't exist in this game

Edit..
Also, man I wish they had true multiclass races. Gt, lmp2 lmp1.
