Prost wants 'proper' Formula 1

They can begin by getting rid of the stupid engine and tire restrictions.
F1 is about massive power and the few elite drivers that can control it. Not about toting around in an 'eco-friendly' V6 which is only marginally faster anymore than other classes.

They should also tip the scale back to mechanical grip instead of aerodynamic grip; makes it easier to overtake.
Allow those big fat tires again and big back wing so they don't have to add those 100 ugly side and front wings.

I'd say 650+ from the engine alone plus a whole lot extra from the motors and all the added torque is all about massive power and massive torque. The cars are faster in a straight line and slightly slower in the corners than last year.

There is only so much grip you can get from mechanics and if you remove too muchaero then the cars go around corners slower, which means slower lap times, which means people complaining that the cars are slower than other classes of racing.

I was hoping the return to turbo´s would bring back the horsepower but alas .
Bring back the 1500 ± horsepower 80´s turbo engines that barely survive one race, side skirts with ground effect, stick shift, wide nose and back spoilers, big tires, wider cars , stop telemetry and all in race car changes from the pit .
Probably half to 75% of the drivers now would´t race in a death trap from the early eighties anyway, lives where lost every season .

Who would you expect to pay for 40 race day engines alone per team, not including the practice and quali engines? the 1500bhp engines that BMW were playing with barely lasted a few laps.

The other changes you mention take F1 in the complete opposite direction of a technologically advanced series, stick shift, really? They've been using semi auto since 1989.

I watch every race, but there are a few things I wouldn't mind seeing. Current rule set produces some artificial passing, but I guess any form of passing is better than no passing.

Bring back refueling along with some tire changes to make a real difference between possible strategy for the drivers. Tweak the aero/downforce rules to allow for passing without KERS or DRS (wouldn't mind seeing KERS stick around in some form though, only if it works well with whatever other rule changes take place)

Racing this season has been good for the most part from spots 4-10 at least.

Refueling will likely never return because of the risks of accidents. The only way it comes back is if they have a mandatory minimum stop time which I'm sure would go down well.

If they reduce the reliance on over body aero then they might be able to race a bit closer together and make more "natural" passes, but unless they claw back all that DF from underbody aero (larger floors) then the cars will be even slower ona lap, which again will be very popular with fans.

Make the cars faster and it'll separate the great drivers from the superhuman drivers.

Aren't most fastest lap records still from Schumacher in 2004? That's a big problem right there...

When Newey designed the Gran Turismo X1 car and he said, "This is what I'd design an F1 car to be without the rules" (I'm paraphrasing), that is where F1 should be going. Not this homogenized, DRS easy mode junk.

I think it's time we got some proper tyres again, so they can actually push for most of the race. The Pirellis were fun for a while, but I'm a bit sick of watching them save tyres all day.
The problem is to find a way to make different strategies viable though, as I doubt refueling will ever return. F1 wants a greener image, and constant refueling makes it seem wasteful, even though the fuel used throughout a season is a drop in the ocean compared to the jets that actually transport people and parts to all the races.

But yeah, dig up some 2010 Bridgestones, if they keep DRS(maybe shorten the zones a bit) overtaking should still be possible.

Everyone gets same tyres. Tyre quota per year. Choose your own tyres in every trace keeping in mind the quota.

All teams would have access to the same tyres (since tyre disparity can really make season boring) but they can opt for different strategies during a race.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

Obviously it's a difference we can't reconcile, but I'm just saying that you're wrong about rose-tinted glasses. Maybe we just like different 'styles' of racing.

There is no way an racing enthusiast could complain about some of the Grand Prix weve had this season though. Bahrain. Montreal. Silverstone. Spa. Hungary.
Like, did you watch those races or are you content to sit and complain about the state of the sport while not watching any of whats actually going on?

I've been casually watching and it's doing absolutely nothing for me at all (partially because I can't stop fuming over poxy engine noises). It's just....sorry, just had a beep in my ear to let me know that this sentence will reach maximum efficiency n...

To make things even worse, the shitty new track limits rules in the UK have bollocksed up the touring cars this year too :(

I wish they'd get rid of free practice, letting them drive around for hours on the Friday and Saturday morning to perfect their strategies and car set-ups just makes everything so boring.

I don't find open wheel racing all that interesting to begin with. Tin top racing is much closer and has much more action. F1 was ok when the cars had balls but those days are over.

Remove most of the rules. Make the cars as fast as they can. Problem solved.
They don't need to be 'as fast as they can' and the safety implications would make that a complete non-starter anyway. They just need to sand off some of the polish and make things rough again.
