I think I only convinced myself in the process of reading and replying to this thread! Didn't mean to jump down your throat with that first response there.

Whats up with people NOT watching the inauguration ? This is akin to Obama's inauguration, when many I know said "Fuck that socialist Obama, I don't want to listen to anything he has to say"

It feels so one sided to me, very "us against them". While I do think Trump is a piece of shit, not hearing what he has to say is pretty ignorant.

Trump is very insecure about the entertainment aspect of his inauguration. From the D-list performers scheduled to whatever the eventual ratings will be. I'd like to not give him a view based on that alone.

Second, his fucking voice and delivery. I can read his words when necessary, but I'd like to avoid hearing and seeing him speak whenever possible. If he says anything new or noteworthy we'll all likely read about it regardless. I've heard enough from him verbally for the last eighteen months and frankly, I've already had enough.

People aren't protesting because the partisan side they are on demands them to. They are protesting (by denying him ratings and piss him off) because they believe him to be a vile man not because he happens to be a Republican (which he barely is)

This doesn't even have to be about how half the country didn't respect Obama the past 8 years, if this was any other Republican candidate (Aside from Cruz) you wouldn't be seeing the fear that Trump is causing on this level at all. The only, I repeat ONLY thing you can compare to Obama's initial presidency is the Not My President thing and that is because those exact words were used against Barack the Islamic Shock. I was fine with the message, but hated the words.

Now on to your post, at this point it is very hard to listen to people who support a man who is racist, sexist, a sexual assaulter, a misogynist, an imbecile, a buffoon, and an internet troll. It is hard to listen when this man puts people who were deemed too racist for the 80s and 90s in positions of power. It is hard to listen when stupid decisions are made BEFORE his inauguration, sorry if I won't listen.

I was watching CNN and some former European leader mentioned that he's shocked millions having been marching 24/7 since the election at Washington DC, something that would've happened in a France or any European nation. The president lost by 3 million popular votes and there is now support that Russia successfully disrupted the election process with a clear favoritism towards Trump lol. There were those NYC protests that lasted a couple days, as I predicted it would fizzle the second it got a little cold

If Trump has something to say, he will say it on twitter. His speeches are barely comprehensible, as he can't express a coherent thought of more than 140 characters.

There's also a big difference between your two examples. "Fuck that socialist Obama" is an objective lie with no basis in reality. Most reasons for being disgusted with Trump have to do with things he has actually said, many times, over and over, and his own well documented lies.

Also, there are legitimate reasons to not view Trump as legitimate based on actions he and his party have taken combined with him losing the popular vote, plus the advisors Trump has surrounded himself with and strong circumstantial evidence that he could be an actual traitor beholden to a foreign power.

The only reason for questioning President Obama's legitimacy was based on a single racist lie, heavily promoted and popularised by the current president elect.

There's really no legitimate "both sides" comparison, imo.
