Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

This! Bad shit happens during Dubbya's run and nobody cleans it up. Plate gets dumped on Obama's desk and he tries and makes positive steps in doing so. Other things he wants to do are blocked by Republicans(Senate and House). After, Republicans mock Obama for not being able to do what he said he wanted to do(even though Republicans were the reason he couldn't), as well as how slow the job market is coming back(even though the Recession happened during a Republican Presidency and recovering from something like that takes time). It is sabotage where you screw up, make a mess and let the next person clean it up but keep on knocking the mop from their hands while saying, "Why aren't you cleaning it up?"

Yup.

People better hold that line. If people forgive him for his actions and settle down, they're worse than the idiots that voted him in

Yeah, James Inhofe and Mitch McConnell scare the shit out of me. Knowing Trump works with them along with picking SC Justices worries me. We can only hope that after the people get a taste of what pure republican leadership is like they realize the error of their ways for the 2018 midterms and 2020 election.

Liberals showing up to midterms elections? shit, after this year we can't even count on the usual BS of "liberals at least show up to general elections"

What do you think?

A lying, racist, sex-assaulting, demagogue is in power having lost the popular vote.

It was a legally-binding election that has operated largely the same way for hundreds of years.

meh. so are these protests. The statement was directly made much more directly yesterday. Vote at midterm if they really don't want to take Trump wholesale.

Your right.

Hillary won the popular vote it was made direct yesterday.

They are right to protest people are scared and rightfully so. People this time will not sit idle while somebody that will put many people in harm of racist act and fear of deportation.

The majority voted and because of a system that doesn't fully care about majority vote people are angry. As long as they stay peaceful and stand against racism, closed minds and bigotry.

That man has no right to be president and should of been stopped from the start. The majority voted out of hate and it's showing.

Don't see why people have to accept something in the name of democracy. As long as we as the people have the right to protest something we don't like there should be no reason not to, even if "it won't change anything". Especially in these big cities where it's likely a majority of them did vote and probably didn't vote for Trump.

Whether justified or not, Hillary Clinton is really unlikeable. So that discouraged turnout and diverted a lot to 3rd parties. There was also a massive 3rd party spoiler effect in some battleground states.

We'll see what 2 years of change brings under Trump but I imagine it will have a lot of people running to the voting booth to try and reverse this asap.

Well people are tired of the same ways. The same same ways that enacted voter suppression laws to rig the election for Trump. The same same ways that ensures that the majority of the voters DON'T get who they voted for.

But to think this is ONLY about the results of the election is short sighted. The seeds that were sowed during the Occupy movement are still very much alive in today's protests.

The end result should be (and is) a drawn line and declaration that things won't go as smoothly for Trump or his supporters as he and they hope in the coming years.
Meanwhile the republican majority shrugs their shoulders, laughs, and keeps doing whatever they want. Remember the nothingburger that Occupy Wall Street ended up being because they could not figure out what they wanted?

Don't wait until 2018 for the chance to enact change. You can make your declaration today, but absolutely nothing will happen without tomorrow if you don't follow up.

Imagine if people like you had said "MEH. THESE PROTESTS WONT WORK" during the civil rights movement. Short sightedness.

Protesting is a constitutional right. Only a regressive would object to that. Godspeed to these people and hopefully after this they march onto the DNC headquarters to dismantle the crooks and scammers that gifted the election to Trump.

Yeah irony of this is that people want change from many things and when the system allows a dude a hateful as him to be president people want to make that change apparent

Quit trying to say they have no right to protest. Anyone can protest about anything. If fucking westboro baptist church can protest most of the time than let their voices be heard for being against the new leader.

It will be fucking hysterical if protests get even more crazy and the Trump supporters say we should move forward( it appears it is already happening).

Trump will likely be the most unfavorable candidate going in history. This will most likely will not be the end of it.

In the upside down world this is possible but wouldn't be surprised if these protest get out of hand because trump supporters attack them.

Right now everybody is on thin Ice and if one person gets killed because of trump or Hillary things will become worse than we could ever imagine.

The protesting is more a unifying rally call to not give up than anything aimed at republicans. I agree though, nothing comes of this if people pack it in after tonight.

I'm proud that people are uniting on day one, even if it's in the form of a protest. I wish I could be out there with them.

I don't understand why people assume that the people who are out protesting didn't vote. Doesn't it make more sense that the people who didn't vote probably can't be bothered to go out and protest.

Keep fighting the good fight guys. As a Canadian I fully support you. Don't let anyone tell you that you should just accept it.

CNN has stopped coverage of the protests? Are they over? Are there more planned for tomorrow?

And what was the organizing force behind these protests? Is there a website up yet?

Stuff like that might happen. If anything Trump is on thin ice. Anything that is unpopular that is related to his will see people look at him unfavorable, him trying to build the wall( if he even tries) will draw thousands of protest in including some GOP people who will silently protest him.

DOwntown Los Angeles Protests. It was more exciting when it was initially a motorcucle chase. Now it's just people stopping traffic. The helicoptor pilot is annoyed at these protesters and making it known though.

What are they protesting exactly? I don't think the Republicans did that in 2008 when Obama won. Protest when he does something questionable after becoming president not when he won fair and square. Yes, he is a terrible person but this just feels wrong.
Probably because Obama wasn't a racist, xenophobic, islamophobic, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, climate change denying sociopath. Stop.

It's weird. Some people forget easily I guess.

Any of you guys remember the Tea Party Movement?

Maybe this will be the start of something big. And maybe some millennials will actually, "gasp" vote in the next midterm election!

Trump voters are making fun of these protests.

Yeah. Let's remember back in 2008 when people said the GOP was dead and people laughed at the Tea Party protesters.

They did vote, activists are much much more likely to have already voted. They're also in blue states.

Has there been any rioting? I'm looking for corroboration to some claims my sister, a Trump supporter, has made. All I'm finding are links to Infowars, so I suspect it's complete horse shit.

To show we support and still stand with the communities whose rights will likely be trodden upon. Just to show them they are not alone and will continue to fight for their rights, even if our elected leaders will not.

WIth the LA protest in particular, I'm glad to see the American flag and the rainbow flag flying. The Mexican flag that was shown in an earlier vine/tweet video earlier in the day didn't go over so well on the internet.

There has to be some sort of online equivalent way to vote. This protest, this spark of movement whatever it is needs a guiding force. It needs organization and leadership.

Thank you. This is showing many that they are not alone
