Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

Blue.fucking.states. They voted.
I'd be willing to net a sizeable porion of them did not. I know lots of people that didn't vote, or voted Johnson, that got really pissed off when Trump won. It's not uncommon, especially this year.

Good for them on protesting, I just wish we saw the same enthusiasm on election day.

Fucking Clinton still don't get it

Oh my god. A Clinton supporter said that? Gamechanger.

Wow. It's interesting that you understand that Trump supporters would do exactly that if Hillary had won. But you are too blind to see the difference between that and what people are doing right now.

Go on...

You know why we lose? We protest, we raise awareness, and then we don't vote. You want to protest, come out in full force in 2018 and flip the house and senate. That would be a protest that would accomplish something.

The people who voted and are upset are probably out protesting. The people who are pissed at Trump but didn't vote are probably just complaining on Twitter.

I live in AZ and I vote every damn time. It's hard to make a dent in such a red state. I don't what happened here this election cause turnout was way down on both sides.

"We don't vote" ignores the miscalculation by Hillary/the campaign about the sentiment in the rust belt. Bernie tapped into something and that was not paid any attention as it should have been.

What is the injustice? We stayed home and lost, we all knew how the EC worked.

The injustice is that a terrible human being with terrible policies was just elected. Will protesting that change the outcome? No. Will protesting that bring some awareness to why he's awful? Hopefully.

Why do people here have a problem with the protests?
Protests, just as voting, are a part of the democratic process.

Media outlets have been making protests out to be "riots" in folks' minds for years. Even peaceful protest is often met with resistance.

Also the internet is full of contrarians.

And what part of that process do they contribute to?

Pointless protesting the result of a fair election, he will still be president, the race was won fair and square. You cant participate in a race and then cry and moan when you lose ..... especially when its your own fault.

It would be interesting to examine how many of these protesters actually bothered to vote on Tuesday. I'm certain a great number of them couldn't be bothered. Along with all the celebrities and "celebrities" whose support went only as far as self-promotion. I doubt many of them actually showed up to vote, actually I'm sure that most of them don't even know where their polling station is.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize that we just needed awareness on how awful Trump is. Not like we haven't seen it broadcasted 24/7 for the last year on cable news.

They should be protesting when their friends & family told them they weren't planning to participate in the election.

I like this idea that people who are energized enough to protest were somehow also too lazy to vote, or too lazy to encourage others to vote. You have no means of proving this ridiculous sentiment, but it still gives you a way to keep dismissing people who aren't apathetic to the outcome of the election like you are.

You guys are good. I see why we really lost. We don't stand a chance against reality warpers.

That's a little different when

A) The result of losing is a literal comic book villain rising to the highest office in the country

B) The people who are protesting are in areas that did vote for Hillary

Everybody knows, we had a new "Trump is bad" story everyday ..... yet the ballot box has spoken.

How many of those people do you think voted? Certainly not all of them. Obama's old adage remains true as always. They can boo now, but they should've voted.

I mean, sure not all of them, but what would ever make people think any significant number of them didn't vote (unless they're unable to)? I voted and I'm fucking angry, sad, mourning for this country... fuck... I'm probably going to join this in the coming days to show solidarity with those who think this country isn't their home anymore.

Not my president and never will be

And before anybody wants to jump in with a complaint about those 7 words, he AND his supporters said the exact same 7 words about Obama for the last 5 years. Where the fuck were your complaints then, "ALLIES"????

Clearly not everyone is aware. I had a Trump voter messaging me today that had no idea about Pence's aims for LGBT citizens.

Whatever, continue fighting the good fight of looking down on people for protesting racism, sexism, homophobia etc. etc.

Spare me.

Go protest at the door of every democrat that didn't show up. Protest the Clinton campaign that gave away this election.

Go back a little further too:

2004: Kerry, 59million. Bush, 62million

2000: Gore, 51million, Bush 50.5million

1996: Clinton, 47million, Dole 39million, Perot 8million

As someone on Reddit said, Obama voters didn't stick around.

That graph would not be so dramatic if it included elections before Obama.

Pretty much. People looking for a reason will build something that fits their narrative. The numbers don't lie though.

Would you be so accommdating if the other half of the country felt it wasnt their country anymore if Hilary had of won?

How many times do people have to say that most of the large protests are IN BLUE STATES as in they voted and they were fucking BLUE. Holy shit.

Do not fucking dare tell people who have legitimate fear and anxiety to calm down

I am attempting to be calm and peaceful but stop that shit. Stop it.

Yeah, it's getting very frustrating to hear so many people try to normalize the shit that Donald has said and done to get the presidency. As if the vote gives him a blank slate and all of the flames he's stoked aren't his problem to deal with.

If we need unity, it's Donald's to fucking create. Be a fucking good president and find a way to bring us together. If not that's on him.

Would you be so accommdating if the other half of the country felt it wasnt their country anymore if Hilary had of won?

Their fears wouldn't be rooted in logic considering Hillary is a continuation of the last 8 years of policy and had no plans to strip rights away from American citizens. So no I would fucking not be. Spare me with your devil's advocate, quasi-both sides are the same bullshit.

That doesn't change the value of protest in and of itself. And BTW I am not at all happy with the Clinton campaign, nor am I happy about the turnout numbers where it counted.

I am not looking down on anyone for any such thing ...... seemed to me to be more about a bunch of bad losers, protesting about the "popular vote".

Unfortunately those topics have an electoral mandate now.

Im no trump supporter, i hate that he won....but i fail to see what protests will do. Create awareness?

Im usually for all forms of protests. But for a presidential election im not sure what can be done? They want a recount or something?

Maybe that's why they are blue. Because they start crying every time things don't go their way. Boohoo, poor babies, they lost fair and square and now it's everybody's fault but theirs. Bunch of whiny sore losers.

Why do people here have a problem with the protests?
Protests, just as voting, are a part of the democratic process.

Its futile, the time to protest was at the ballot its always at the ballot. They didn't show up and Trump won fair and square. Look we have been down this street before with W including protests and it did nothing the real power is in the ballot. It sucks that this keeps happening but people need to show up. Trump supporters held their nose and pressed the button the dems just stayed home or voted harambe or whatever other 3rd party nonsense like in 2000 or stayed home like in 2010. Every fucking vote counts but no one seems to be able to remember this past an election.

You get what you vote for, you get what you don't vote for. There are a lot of people who sat back and watched on Tuesday, had no intention of voting and didn't bother to. And some of them are probably at a few of these protests, acting like idiots. Well here we are.

You cant participate in a race and then cry and moan when you lose ..... especially when its your own fault.

That isn't entirely true; Trump won because of the Electoral College.

The final votes were:

Trump: 59,611,678
Clinton: 59,814,018

That means more people turned out to vote for Hillary than Trump despite the outcome.

The blue collar worker is dying and nothing will change that. However they have been fed lies that say their simplistic view of life, and their dead or dying towns will come back. All of a sudden the dreaded witch wins and their last hope is crushed. They act out in anger.

You don't have to like it, I have my personal biases against rural communities, but understand it. Understanding is vital for this country.
