Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

I'm at a loss of words as to what to say. I don't know where we go from here as a country. I don't know how we recover spiritually with one another after this unless a miracle happens.

Anyone know if the LA protest is planned to continue tomorrow? Wondering if I can use it as an excuse to work from home..

Edit: Oh shit they shut down the 101.

Well people are tired of the same ways. The same same ways that enacted voter suppression laws to rig the election for Trump. The same same ways that ensures that the majority of the voters DON'T get who they voted for.

But to think this is ONLY about the results of the election is short sighted. The seeds that were sowed during the Occupy movement are still very much alive in today's protests.

And that can all change,

But where does it end? At what point do you stop calling it the United States?

Helicoptor guy just said the sheriff just gave the call on the protestors. They've made their point. They're coming in and gonna shut em down. Theyve shut down the freeway long enough. Theyre gonna come in hard.

People look like ants from this high up.

How many of those people do you think voted? Certainly not all of them. Obama's old adage remains true as always. They can boo now, but they should've voted.

It doesn't have to stop being the United States just because changes are made. No bullshit laws against money in politics that are REAL and NOT smoke and mirrors would probably be enough to call off the movement. Then the country can rejoice in a political system that is MORE like the United States and MORE democratic than it has ever been.

"Clinton supporter"

But yeah, some of them still don't get it.

Get what? shutting down the cities that overwhelming voted for Hillary doesn't do anything?

No wonder we lost, apathetic before the election and outraged after. I bet this forum would be signing a different tune if Hillary won and trump supporters had hey effigy on a noose.

It's not Clinton that said it. But that sentiment is akin to the same sentiment we see from posters in this thread. They just don't realize how IMPORTANT these protests really are. It's just a lack of foresight.

Helicoptor guy's commentary has been wack all night, but he channeled Tupac a bit when he saw that people starting sitting down on the freeway he (i assumed threw his hands up and) said that LA does things their own way.

Trump =/= Hillary
If they were out there doing this over Mitt Romney, McMullin or even GWB I would be pissed at them.

As it is? It's their Wednesday.

Meh, I'm working from home tomorrow anyway.

I like the dick move tbh. If any citizens were used to pointless freeway stops, it's us.

why wouldn't we be? there's a lot of difference between protesting and hanging an effigy of someone by a noose, of which we have so far not seen in these protests against trump.

Wow. It's interesting that you understand that Trump supporters would do exactly that if Hillary had won. But you are too blind to see the difference between that and what people are doing right now.

There has to be some sort of online equivalent way to vote. This protest, this spark of movement whatever it is needs a guiding force. It needs organization and leadership.

Be vocal and active.

Contact your state representatives often. Be strong and firm, but be civil. Show them that you pay attention and that you vote. That you and many others will be voting in the midterms.

Politicians can get away with a lot if we don't pay attention and we don't vote.

These peaceful protests are wonderful, but we also need to vote as well.
