Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

TV media? CNN basically pulled a strategy where they had Trump supporters on every segment to shout down Clinton supporters and take up all talking segments and was nothing but emails during g early voting. Fox News was all emails and Hillary is evil of course. MSNBC was trying to point things out, but nooone watches MSNBC.

They spent last week blasting an e-mail scandal with no substance and what ended up being, of course, nothing. They barely said shit about Trump. It was a trade by and disgrace.

I don't watch TV, so that's probably why I didn't realize.

I read newspapers though, and it seems like all the papers that I read such as the Guardian, the Atlantic, etc, all stood united in their efforts to make people vote for Hillary.

There is something very sad in protesting the results of an election.
Sure, sound your dissatisfaction with the results, but this is just throwing a tantrum.

The turnout for the election was low, blame the ones who thought a clinton victory was a guarantee.

This was brexit and colombia all over again.

Bu...but you do realize that by protesting Trump's win you are marching AGAINST the concept of democratic elections?

Democracy is good. America has voted.
Trump is your president.
Deal with it!

Time for "unity". And you know, stop being "intolerant".
Take the L and be a good person.

not how it works. protests doesn't just mean 'fuck democracy'. it means a multitude of factors. mainly it just means two things: fear and rage

The people thinking politics is merely limited to voting every couple of years might want to run to the kid's section in the book store and grab a history book. You've got a lot to learn.

This is an oxymoron. These people are sounding their dissatisfaction with the results by protesting.

Furthermore for your second point, yes more people should have voted. But what do people like me do who voted Dem all the way down the ballot? I did my best to ensure a Dem victory and people who hate me for how I was born prevailed.

Yeah, everyone has known that the Electoral College is shit. Any system where there's a failure rate of 7% where the loser is sometimes the winner is not a system worth keeping. Everyone talks about changing it. But it never gets done and never will get done unless people make a big stink about it.

Enjoyed this post when imagined in Raylan's voice. He would probably say this...

1st Amendment. Right to protest over whatever the heck people want, including trying to make sure their rights are protected instead of simply keeling over dead and letting their rights be trampled over without so much as a fight which seems pretty damn protest worthy to me. Deal with it. Or are you conceding that the Constitution doesn't matter already? Like... this is the literal purpose the thing was made for and the exact type of protest the founders were envisioning when they wrote the fucking thing.

If something is decided in a democratic way and you disagree, you have every right to protest. Same reason you can protest against laws in place and such. That is also part of the democratic process.

Well, I saw and read some crazy shit on twitter and on the news. So yeah, I know what you mean, but believe me, some of them do have the 'fuck democray' mindset now. Which is hilarious.
If Clinton had won, you would hear 'America has spoken. We have voted. Democracy!!!! Hillary is your/our president' everywhere. But being on the losing side now, democracy sucks all of a sudden, for a certain group. Hilarious.

edit.
Oh, and I'm all FOR protesting. It's just HOW you do it. And I saw some shit yesterday.

Right now it looks like people are mostly protesting because Trump won, since he isn't even president yet, and thus can't make any decisions.

This happens in a lot of countries immediately after elections. It happened in small pockets sin the UK after the Tories won in 2015. Give it a few days, everyone will go home and get on with their lives.

Nope
Nope
Nope

Protesting is a fundamental para of democracy. Especially so if the factual majority of the voters wanted another outcome. Stop trying to be a fascist asshole and shut people up. It's not time for unity, it's time to push back.

personally what i read the protests is is mainly: if you're frightened and scared and angry about what just happened, believe you are not alone

Haha. WRONG.

Read the thread next time before you try espouse your views in it. Your concept of democracy has already been shown to be wrong so many times. BYE NOW.

Edit: Unless you were being sarcastic. In which case, COME BACK!

It's kinda hard to believe so many people are missing the point. No one reasonable is saying Trump's not actually the President. People are showing they don't like that we elected someone only because of fear and hatred, which is OK. It's not that hard to understand, especially since it's happening in big cities that overwhelmingly went for Hillary.

Normally I would scoff at people basically going "DEMOCRACY DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE MY CANDIDATE DIDN'T WIN" but there are plenty of legitimate reasons to be unhappy with the state of "democracy" in the USA and the resulting social climate after Trump's election.
So protest away.

Oh, so we're back to this again? Didn't you learn anything yesterday? Nothing? And you wonder why Hillary lost.

'YOU'RE NOT ON MY SIDE? RACIST! DUMB!'

Haha. WRONG.

Well, bye, I guess?!

Listen to Rick James, guys: UNITY!

Oh, so we're back to this again? Didn't you learn anything yesterday? Nothing? And you wonder why Hillary lost.

'YOU'RE NOT ON MY SIDE? RACIST! DUMB!'

It's a relatively peaceful protest, which is something that doesn't go against the whole concept of democracy as you claimed. Don't hide from your own ignorance behind convenient cover.

You're literally telling people to shut up and accept the demise of their rights. You literally said that protesting, a fundamental part of democracy, is somehow "anti-democratic". Cut that shit out.

You're wrong, you're against democracy, and your "Unity" line is nothing more than a call to get people to shut up.

Hillary lost and yesterday happened not going to change anything. This is going to continue( I'm not talking about the protest). That is something you going to have to deal with and I think the country will be pretty divided or more-so in the future.

If Unity mattered, people shouldn't have voted for such a devisive fear mongering person to be the president

In the eyes of many, especially minorities, the outcomes essentially means Unity doesn't matter to a huge portion of America.

Absolutely nothing wrong with protests. People are upset and scared about the future, and for good reason. Somehow americans thought it was a good idea to elect a person who has confessed to sexual assault and has been openly racist. Good luck in the next 4 years if you want unity

I can't help but roll my eyes at people who oppose these protests. Chances are you are privileged enough to not truly understand the fear felt by those affected by a divisive america created by Trump

People love me actually. I'm a peaceful soul. I know it's shocking to accept that, when the person in front of you doesn't agree with you.

Somehow, it actually was.

People must feel great for potentially trading in the rights of the minorities in exchange for a loto ticket. People have every right to be angry at Trump voters

Let me guess? You're BOOM - PLATANG! ?

One side wants to opress, deport and electrocute people.

The other wants equal rights.

BOTH SIDES AND UNITY THO!

Right?! The fact it's a fight is ridiculous. We're literally fighting for a better and safer world where people are treated equally and our environment is protected for future generations. But fuck us right! But we're expected to "respect" and attempt to understand the other side more, not the other way around, that would be silly

Yes, about 50% of the population in US wants to opdress, deport and electrocute people. Every single one of them.

Nope, but they're willing to potentially trade our rights for Donald Trump. I'd understand a bit more if Donald Trump was an actual solution to the job and poverty crisis. But he's not

Well that - learning to understand the other side - tends to be the burden of the losers because, well, the other side is doing fine as they are.

They had no problem voting for a guy who said he would do all those things so as long as it doesn't happen to them I'm assuming that they are ok with it which is just as bad as actively wanting to do it.
