It means nothing.

It will accomplish nothing.

The protests should be at the homes and places of people who didn't fucking vote. Any and all liberal/democrat protest from here on should hold signs that read 2018 midterms, that's our only hope for anything right now.

this. and escpecially this.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Imagine if we saw the same energy from democrats yesterday

Yep. This is kinda like how tons of people waving EU flags descended on London after the Brexit vote. There was nothing like that during the campaign at all.

Still, it's good to show strength of feeling, I guess.

Wrong approach. You don't protest a valid election result.

Wait until Trump and his GOP government implement fucked up laws and policies. Then, demonstrate, protest, uncontinuingly, vehemently, ... with vigor and spirit. Protest eveyr step of the way. Let the government know you're not gonna have it. But not now. Not yet.

Good. I just hope it stays peaceful. The people need to rise up and show Trump that he does not, in fact, have a mandate from the American people to do whatever fool things he wants. He won on a
constitutionally-mandated
technicality.

Good. People should be worried, should feel agitation, and should keep escalating the situation, because that's how big it is that a racist bigot got elected to the top position in the country.

What movement is going to come from this?

children.

go home, you lost.

there are other ways to handle this. jesus

EC has not yet actually elected Trump. Until the EC casts its votes, people can speak up and act in protest. People should speak up and act, people should never be complacent nor should they ever give up.

The EC has never gone against the vote, but the US has also never also elected a sexist, racist bigot and narcissistic pop-star.

You probably did from these Democrats. New York, Illinois, and California all went Clinton in a landslide.

For those wondering what the purpose is, it's to serve as a reminder to Trump and the GOP that winning doesn't mean they're unopposed. Conservatives did the same thing with Obama.

So if Trump won the popular and Hill the electoral you'd say the same thing?

Might actually lead to a change if both parties got burned by it.

Now Republicans know they can only hold power through the electoral vote, and against the will of the people. It's never going away.

Throw the Trump Steaks into the harbor!

The Electoral College has the authority to vote against their state's popular vote. As extremely unlikely as it is, protesting like this at least until the EC votes in December should be encouraged.

It is passed the time to protest, this is utterly pointless. I guess it'll make people feel more content over something, even though this will do nothing.

They should have been out there the past few months, its too late now.

Get ready for 4 years of protests and civil disobedience.

I believe that there are many, many people that will never accept Trump.

This is just the start.

Man, I forgot how anti-protest Gaf can be sometimes. Good on everyone out there. I have some friends in both Chicago and NYC who are out there right now. Wish I could go join them right now.

I said it in all my posts yesterday, that the only gleem of optimism I have for Trump winning over Clinton is that it will piss off enough people to move them to protest. To move them to get involved outside of just the election cycle. This movement is just beginning, and it will need a name, it will need a leader. It might be too early for that right now but we cannot repeat the mistakes of Occupy. It NEEDS a direction, someone needs to rise and lead and organize this movement.

I vote Jon Stewart or a retired Bernie Sanders. Although its still too early to know exactly how this will all play out. I just HOPE that it continues and snowballs in momentum.

SUPPORT THIS CAUSE GAF. No amount of politicking is going to make the changes that YOU want to happen in this country. Clinton's loss proves this. No matter what Democratic strategy they have next, you KNOW that the opposition can LIE their way around anything and garner support from the stupid. And you ain't changing the stupid. SO MARCH MARCH MARCH.

I totally respect their right to do this and I'm glad they are. Excising their right to protest is incredibly important, especially in the next few years.

However their energy and the effectiveness of the protest is much better focused on those who didn't vote at all. It's incredibly sad the over 40% just didn't bother to vote, despite knowing what could be the outcome. Their time and energy would be better spent mobilizing opposition groups, parties and organisations against trumps polices he has said he would try and pass. Your great nation has done that in the past, and won its independence.
