I'm just as disappointed with the outcome as anybody. But usually protests have a particular outcome in mind. I'm not sure what the end game is by protesting the election results. Unless they're just protesting his positions and bigotry, which may be the case.
I don't think this protest has a clear direction either. And without a clear direction, a clear narrative, and leadership it could fizzle out prematurely like Occupy. BUT what it does show is anger, passion, and contempt for the system. Right now it's too narrowly cast as Liberals vs Trump and rightly so. BUT that doesn't mean that this anger, passion, and contempt CAN'T be harnessed and directed in a way that sparks a genuine social movement that can bring change.
That's what I'm excited about, the possibilities of this. Countless revolutions and movements in history have shown and intellects like Chomsky agree that these types of movements are needed to make changes that the political system WON'T make. They won't change the status quo unless forced to.
This, I hope is the spark. We NEED a spark. Trump being elected SUCKS. But if the outrage it creates enables the spark to create a true social movement to bring about real change then I for one will be glad we didn't get Hilary.
