PS, I Love You- Greg Miller's new PlayStation Podcast

I actually love the EZA podcast. Yeah I would love a more consistent panel on the podcast but then again, I love the different voices each week. I seriously love each member of the EZA crew.

As for this weeks PS I Love You.. I really wish that Colin would actually give FFXV a fair chance. He seems to shake it off like, who cares. As someone who always boasts about his love for RPG's, I feel that FFXV is a major milestone for JRPG's and something that should be experienced for JRPG fans.

Agreed. For such a big fan of FF like Colin says he is he owes FFXV a fair chance. I'm 30 hours in myself and I'm loving every second of it (on Chapter 5 so far).

Colin & Greg are cool, but the list of topics and subjects being out of touch with my personal gaming taste and personality is just off putting. Besides that, they curse too much, and I can't even listen to their podcast with my daughter in the room. Then I had an epiphany, "If I don't want my daughter to listen to this? Why am I?" I get you curse sometimes to express yourself (usually in frustration or strong emotions) but I don't approve of it for myself or in my house for just everyday language. Had enough..

I think it's a bigger part of the gaming culture though, and I admit, my taste is likely not mainstream, so no hard feelings to those guys, just fell out of touch with them. Very contrary opinions towards PS4 Pro, FFXV, Ueda's games, segments of the show like "trophy list" or "Worse PSN name". A lot of "meh" stuff for me, but I wish them the best.

I don't know if you can call their opinion on PS4 as contrarian when a lot of the stuff they were saying was incorrect or just plain false.

And the PS4 Pro reaction seemed very mix anyways.

Yeah, I know some of it was, but they were reasoning "the details aren't important" basically, why are we correcting them on things they don't care about? I think that's what Greg's "I don't know enough about Pro stuff so we don't comment on it" thing was. Obviously, they felt "it's all about the games" mantra was enough to justify their dismissal.

But that's neither here nor there. The whole way they handled it, the thought process, among other things, they simply don't speak to me anymore.

The trophy stuff is the biggest off putting thing for me in the podcast it's like two segments.

The show could definitely trim some fat. Personally find the trophy time, psn name, and listing new games a waste of time that could be spent on discussing news from Roper's report or actually talking about new releases versus making fun of copy.

Also...guess they are still not adding timestamps? Is it related to advertising or are they just still purposely being stubborn/lazy?

Yeah, for them to not even try it is kind of sad. But then again, I stopped listening so probably shouldn't comment anymore. :)

Finishing last week episode. Their The Last Guardian discussion is just pure garbage. "People are afraid to be too hard on it". No Colin they have played the game more than 1 hour and they have not been judging the game before release like you. Also Ps3 couldn't run it because of Physics( destructible environments ), Trico feathers, and AI. Even if he thinks AI is garbage it doesn't mean it's not complicated. All these 3 are tied to cpu along with framerate. I was really laughing during this segment, because I've never seen Greg mad at a game like this before. It obviously doesn't have collecetathons for his safe gaming zone that he has recluse himself to since he doesn't have to review games.

The difference in tone and everything between this and the EZA frametrap/spoilercast of TLG is staggering to me.

Uh, no. I'm actually capable of thinking for myself. Thanks for your concern though.
So true.

Greg and Colin are not the authority when it comes to evaluating games. They are just dudes who make a living off of talking about them, thus not implying they inherently know anything more than you or what goes on in an average day's discussion on neogaf.

The fact that people seem to think otherwise is baffling. In fact, by virtue of you guys posting on neogaf everyday, I would wager to trust your opinion over theirs. Neogaf > World > Neogaf remember?

The difference in tone and everything between this and the EZA frametrap/spoilercast of TLG is staggering to me.

It's interesting to note but dollar amount per patreon EZA destroys KindaFunny. I'm starting to realize why.

I wonder how many times it needs to be said that PS3 TLG had a frame rate in the single digits for the penny to drop for KF that the 2009 trailer was all smoke and mirrors and that the original vision was never going to be realised as a PS3 game.

Timestamps are always on the KF forums, but yeah, probably related to advertising as to why they don't explicitly put it in the description or something.
Hang on...what? I stopped listening to KF a long time ago, but do they still incorporate advertising in their podcasts even after getting almost $27,000 a month just for Kinda Funny Games Patreon? Seriously?

Dude in last week podcast it was downgraded to a PS2 game by them at least control wise. Give it a couple of episodes and it will be a NES game. Plus jump on triangle, how dare they? I was really laughing at that segment. They are the one one who wanted to hate the game and accuse others for liking it to compensate. Other outlets are so afraid to criticize the game they decided to give it GOTY award lol.

Don't they run pre-rolls too? (Maybe mid-rolls?) Also, that's not even counting their Kinda Funny Patreon too.

I enjoyed this week's prediction episode! Though I wish they wouldn't insist on taking cheap shots at Gravity Rush 2. Such an odd thing considering how excited the PlayStation audience is for it and Greg actually enjoyed the first game.

I'm more with Colin on his release windows particularly with either Detroit or Days Gone coming out in fall but not both and the other releasing in February 2018. That is literally what I've been thinking as well. Also nice to hear his thoughts about Sucker Punch's game. That sucker could be anywhere from end of 2017 through 2019.

I'm not sure if Sony will want to just stand aside while MS launch Scorpio, it seems to me they will likely want to counter it with something.

Spiderman seems like an obvious big title especially with the release of the movie, but I'd expect them to throw more big exclusives into the holiday season mix than usual just to maintain profile.

Yeah I agree that this weeks episode was good. The Gravity Rush 2 shots were not needed however that game is a known quantity in terms of release date. So there is no need to discuss it on what they were doing.

They got destiny 2,Battlefront 2 and RdR2 bundles most likely for starters. I wouldn't put a single exclusive near any

At this point i'm not sure if this guys are being pretentious and controversial on purpose or they don't have idea what they're talking about.
Sometimes the things they talk are so casuals that is insufferable watching them more than 2 minutes.

That's why I like EZA, because they are totally the opposite

They can't force a game to be finished by the time Scorpio launches. Besides, no game is going to out mindshare a new console launch.

With so many things I seem to have strongly different opinions of, this year has been an... interesting one for me and Kinda Funny content. To name a few:

The Witness
No Man's Sky
PS4 Pro
Kyle Bosman
The Last Guardian

I am capable of listening to constructive criticism, and meaningful discussion, in fact I look forward to that. But when it starts to seem like an endless stream of negativity, or worse yet ambivalence, to the things that seem rather important to me, it leaves me quite conflicted.

At least we can still agree that Vita, Shuhei Yoshida, and the list of upcoming PS4 exclusives are all great. Better luck in 2017, I guess.

Lol I don't love everything KF does, but "pretentious" is not a word I would ever use to describe Colin and Greg.

I love both KF and EZA, but you need to remember that Kinda Funny is just 4 guys compared to the 9 of EZA. Of the 4 at Kinda Funny, only 3 are really into games. Of those 3, only 2 of them co-host PS I Love You XOXO (both EZA podcasts always have 4 people). Greg and Colin have very similar tastes/viewpoints in terms of video games, so you're not going to get all that many contrasting viewpoints. As much as I love the show currently, I do think having a rotating third chair would improve the show.

If they can make extra money from advertising, why wouldn't they?

Especially in a city life SF. As much as they bring in via Patreon, that ad money is a nice security blanket for them. And the ads are not all that intrusive anyways. You can easily skip past them.

When they used to be at IGN, they would go to other shows like gamescoop and Up at noon and they would go to the office and talk with other people. Now they are just insular and their opinions are merging because they don't have contact with others. Because of other people hype at the office they would try things outside of their comfort zone and wouldn't be so quickly to discard games.

This is why I miss Clements and goldfarb. These guys really balance out Greg and Colin well.

I'm still a KF fan, just not a KFG fan due to the fact they claim they like being challenged yet when others do via internet, they dismiss it. In a nutshell, you don't get mini-debates, just bold statements in this podcasts, which fine for me, just a bit way too frequent for my liking.

Here's the predicted released schedule from this week's episode:

Horizon Zero Dawn - Feb. 28th, 2017 (Both)
Gran Turismo Sport - May 2017 (C), Fall 2017 (G)
Days Gone - Nov. 2017 (C), Summer 2018 (G)
Detroit: Become Human - Feb. 2018 (C), Spring 2019 (G)
Death Stranding - Fall 2019 (C), 2020 (G)
God of War - Fall 2018 (C), Spring 2018 (G)
Spider-Man - Summer 2018 (C), Fall 2019 (G)
Dreams - 2018 (C), Summer 2019 (G)
The Last of US Part II - Summer 2019 (C), Fall 2018 (G)
Sucker Punch New IP - Early 2019 (C), 2020 (G)

This is fucking crazy. Colin's is not so unrealistic, but I think Greg's is way off.

You can swap the triangle and cross functions in the PS4 accessibility options anyway if you really insist on having jump mapped to cross.

Something you'd expect a PlayStation specialist podcast to know.

I think they are waaaaaaaaaaay off with Dreams. The beta is rumored to launch early 2017 (delayed from 2016). I would assume that would mean a late Spring/early Summer release. Whenever a Media Molecule game goes into Beta testing, the final release is months away.

Agreed. I expect Dreams to come out sometime between May and September of next year. I also think that Detroit and Days Gone are 2017 games.
Sucker Punch would have to be making the biggest and most dense open world of all time if their game doesn't hit until 2019+
Yep. This is the prediction that was most baffling to me. Early 2019 is the absolute worst case, but that game is coming in 2018. I'd bet on that.

Greg mentioned in this episode he thinks 2017 is shaping up to be a bad year for games but that confuses me so much. There's so much coming out in the first half of the year alone, Resident Evil 7, Nioh, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Zelda, to name a few... Red Dead most likely in the second half of the year... 2017 doesn't look bad to me.

For me, it will be hard for 2017 to match or top 2016, but it doesn't look like a bad year. Also, I'm not sure Greg said that. I thought he just said it would be a slow year for Sony exclusives.

I think Greg is referring to Sony exclusives in 2017 being weak. He only mentions Horizon and Gran Turismo as notable releases.

Those are the tentpole releases but there's still Gravity Rush 2 and MLB: The Show at mininum and plenty of potential for games like Knack 2, Detroit and Dreams, etc.

Don't they have 3 exclusives in the first 3 months?
Gravity rush2,horizon,mlb the show

Crash trilogy
Wipeout trilogy
Gt sport
Hot shots golf
Knack 2
All slated for 2017

Amoung other downloadable titles, indies and unannounced games and dates for other games?

With Dreams coming to VR I can see it pushing into 2018 assuming it hadn't been initially designed with VR in mind.

Honestly, I am surprised Colin and Greg haven't discussed this game as being a perfect fit for VR. While i agree with them that I haven't seen where the gameplay is in Dreams, I do think Dreams makes perfect sense for a VR experience. Building your own, and exploring others, dreams in VR seems rather interesting and plays into the creation and exploration tools we have seen from it so far.
