Have fun dude! Use your ammo wisely and search areas thorough for items!
Yep, I'm definitely going to do that, though this playthrough is gonna be quite long for me since I'm new to everything plus how I would do those encounters as well.

I can't believe I haven't played this before considering I love dinosaurs!!!

Yeah, it is! It's nice to have the familiar RE controls, yet the game is very different in other regards.

Remember that mixing anaesthetics all the way up gives you a poison, instant kill dart. Though it costs a lot to mix up.

Is it just me or is there input lag when playing PS1 games on PS3?

It's a known issue but one many people don't seem to know about. PS1 games on PS3 are often unplayable because of it. JRPGs are fine but forget about platformers or racers. The issue (as I understand it) is the 240p to 480i change. If you use component cables and set you PS3's output to 480p it's less of an issue. I did this once but then all my actual PS3 games looked distorted.

I've talked about this for the past few years in various threads. Most people never notice it because they're playing FF7 or something. Vita is the way to go for all PS1 games bought via PSN, IMO.

Started to backup my collection and boy what a pain it is doing this. Especially if you are trying to get perfect rips. Hope Saturn games are easier to work with.

What are your thoughts about the NegCon? I just got one with Ridge Racer Type 4 and the gameplay is... interesting.

Not a fan. Never understood the love for those controllers.

I thought R4 used the JoGcon?

It uses both. The NeGcon support is better than the Jogcon, but R4 is probably best played with a DualShock.

The NeGcon's infamy comes from the WipEout series, where it is almost required to move beyond the earlier classes in the game.

Thanks guys, I'll be trying the NeGcon with Wipeout 3 SE now.

I think I posted it a couple of years ago, but the guys over at WipeoutZone somehow fit a DS3's guts into a NeGcon and translated either analog stick or motion control into the NeGcon twist. Impressions were that it made WOHD feel easier and slower.

Edit: Found a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPGg0feYnB8

This video brought me to this article, where they explain how to use a NeGcon on any PS/2/3 game by using an Xbox adapter then a PS adapter. The twist would be mapped to the stick to allow for turning in racing games that don't natively support the NeGcon.

Reading this thread has made me pick up a few physical PS1 games again.
This weeks finds are -

Gran Turismo
Ridge Race Type 4
Formula 1
Formula 1 '97
V-Rally
TOCA Touring Car Championship
Tomb Raider The Last Revelation
World Cup '98
Nagano Winter Olympics '98
Sensible Soccer
ISS Pro Evolution Soccer

All are in great condition with unbroken boxes and instuction books. Got them for £1 each. :)
I fear my addiction to PS1 collecting might have returned after I sold most of my collection years ago.

What a great console it was though. :)

Playing Mega Man Legends and Tail Concerto for a podcast this week.

I remember loving both on release and they still hold up well for me. They're also oddly similar, thematically. Floating islands living on ancient ruins and tech.

I remember playing the Tail Concerto demo. Lovely game. Never got to play the full game. My rental place never stocked it. And I was too poor afford at that age.

I personally never liked it for car games, but the WipEout games, now there's another story! The WipEout games are amazing with the NegCon, it's like what I imagine them using inside the spaceships!

Feels so intuitive to race with it and you can balance a smooth and perfect curve for turns.

I've used the NegCon for one other game too: Test Drive Unlimited on PC. Used a ps2 controller usb dongle. I used it for racing motorcycles, turning with the NegCon and braking/accelerating with steering wheel pedals on the floor. Coolest and weirdest setup I've ever had! Lol

How is the game itself? I've been eyeing it for a while now.

It's basically a ripoff of Panzer Dragoon with badly acted FMV cutscenes and an excellent Zuntata soundtrack. Also in the opening FMV keep an eye out, you can see Reuben Langdon, aka the voice of Ken Masters from Street Fighter and Dante from Devil May Cry. It's playable though.

I think I want a pocketstation...

I seriously considered getting one, but it's supported by very few games, most of which I don't really care about. Plus you need one per game as the minigames take all the space, you can't store anything else. And the minigames didn't seem to be interesting or really adding to the experience.

But I still kind of want one, because it's still an interesting piece of hardware and fun to show to people.

thank you for telling me this. God damn didn't know they took up so much space

The games i own for off the top of my head are Street Fighter Zero 3, Fire Japan Pro Wrestling, and Dance Dance Revolution 3rdMix, Final Fantasy 8 and Ridge Racer Type 4

So Mega Man Legends is finally coming to PSN. Our podcast game choices continue to be prophetic.

The game is mechanically clunky but playable. The art style is simple polys with highly expressive facial textures, something that's helped it from looking too dated.

I was surprised by how small the game seemed now as opposed to my memory of it. The dungeons are very small and there are like, two puzzles in the whole game.

The weapons are pretty cool, except for two things: First off, zenny has a ridiculously small pickup range that makes the Vacuum Arm so handy that I never brought a special weapon along (except when I had to destroy a wall.) Second, the game doesn't provide you with nearly enough zenny and everything is a massive zenny pit (health and canteen upgrades, parts, rebulding the town, etc.) The Shining Laser alone takes over a million zenny to upgrade fully. I don't think you make a million zenny playing through the entire game.

I generally play games to completion but I have never fully upgraded all the weapons in MML and gotten the canteen to 99/99. It's too much and it doesn't carry over into Hard mode. I still haven't completed Hard mode to unlock Easy mode, which is a weird as hell thing to make me do. Supposedly you get a stronger weapon and make more zenny on Easy, so maybe it's a reward for playing through the game twice?

Almost done with Tron Bonne now and I love it.

I posted this in the 20th anniversary thread. This had to be my favorite mag back in the day next to gamefan and gameplayers

I also won an Ebay auction of 35 PSM mags. I have just about every single issue I owned and then some minus 2 before the metal gear solid 1 issue. The September 1998 and October 1998 issues

I loved that mag. I remember I had a decal on my PS from them.

The person who did PSM cover art actually had his own comic right?

There were many people who drew cover art. A LOT of notable names and recognized art. I'll list a few names, and their websites

I think when people think of PSM magazine art they think of Adam Warrens art and style and Kinnairi (who I can't seem to find a blog of his or her art for the live of me)

My friend did the coloring for the Wipeout/Adam Warren cover. He snuck in his telephone number <now disconnected> at the time somewhere in the artwork, see if you can find it :)

Kept my momentum going after Mega Man Legends and played through the Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

It was really charming! The levels ranged from great (bank robbery) to meh (farm stuff.) The cargo container puzzles were almost too clever at times. Some of the solutions were moves I didn't even know you could do.

I loved the different outfits Tron wore and how some had animation, like being out on the deck.

The controls were still a bit stiff and it still feels better with a dpad. Looks like the zenny pickup radius has been improved, making their collection less of a chore.

Training servbots was repetitive, though. Would've been nice to have a couple of minigames for each stat instead of just the one each. Luckily it wasn't too hard to max them out, but there was absolutely no reward or acknowledgement for doing so =[ Throw me a freaking bone or something.

Already started Legends 2 and... I'm kind of blown away. It's a huge improvement in terms of graphics, narrative and controls so far. There's been more story in the intro movie than all of Legends.

Sadly it loses to Legends 1 in terms of gameworld and explorability. No big interconnectedness between the world, npcs don't react to things going on in the game as much or change what they say as much through the game. Stuff like that. Don't seem to remember as many hidden sidequests and stuff too but it may be that I just wasn't surprised by what I found that time unlike with the first Legends game where I was still amazed at all the cool stuff I could find when I thought there would be nothing.

The controls and graphics are way better though for sure. Even with that I have replayed the first game a ton more then the second.

Yeah, it's not the first time I've heard that opinion. There's a charm to Kattelox Island that can't be denied.

Loving 2 so far, though. I'll see where it ends up with me. Really hoping it gets put on PSN after Legends was announced. More people need to play it overall.

Is MM Legends coming to PSN?

Holy cow, that's so great. MML and TB. Pretty sweet. A copy of MML1 is not terribly expensive these days so maybe it will drop a bit. Would be nice to have one. It seems like only the really expensive collectors item games maintain or gain value after an official digital release.

PSone games look great on a CRT but do you really want to hook a PS3 up to a CRT? I prefer PSone games on the PSP for portability and it looks pretty good(plus suspend mode). Emulation on a PS3 is pretty good but once I played PSone on a PSP thats my go to now.

I have seen consistent reports that the PS3 introduces input lag on PSone games. Has anyone tested them with the PS3 set to 480i on a CRT?
