Man, another person with a ps2 and no ps3. Glad I'm not alone.I don't have a PS3 anymore, though.

Unrelated: I have been messing with framemeister settings for ps2 games and I honk I'm pretty close to optimal settings. I'd be willing to share them with folks once they're finalized if there are many people using a fm with their ps2.
I'd love to see, though FM settings can vary from TV to TV. I have one setting for my ps2, DC, and Xbox, but kinda wish the thing allowed for multiple presets.

New firmware allows for presets. That how I would share themcheck out the Retro Gaming Done Right thread. couple pages back is links.
The newest firmware update does! It also allows loading/saving presets onto the micro SD so you can share your settings that way.

I'm using component out. Need to pick up a Sync-on-Luma cable for good IQ out of PS2 before I can use RGB. I can look in to 480i a bit more. Haven't really fleshed that setting out a whole lot.FWIW I'm definitely interested in your 480i settings, they can be trickier than the 240p. Are you using component or RGB out of the PS2?
Yup. New firmware is actually pretty great. New features and things are better organized than before.whoooaaa.
welp, here's to a weekend of fucking around with the new stuff.
Alrighty put together a little package for my 480i preset including samples from a number of different games as well as usage instructions.

Planning to do the 240p and 480p PS2 profiles this weekend but the 480i one is the one I finished first so I figured I'd share it.
Sounds weird, just like a typical Taito game.![]()
so this is a FMV rail shooter interspersed with tank control style third-person sections (with just photos/video for backgrounds) in which you unlock videos of the actresses going bowling and shit. discuss.
Just bought a PS2 slim at Book Off for 45 bucks in great condition, bought it to play all of the MegaTen games I missed![]()
lower quality how? missing some extras or?
I believe all of them have gotten reprints recently so the MegaTen games are cheap. Jump on it.
Oh, and the reprints are a bit lower quality. Pretty sure they're not bootlegs, though.
I think I'll take pictures though I'm not sure how well it will show up on film. The boxes are lower quality and the front covers are printed on thinner paper. the boxes are the real thing that bug me since the quality drop is obvious. I've been exchanging them with spare cases I have lying around.
Got photos. think it's clear which is the original. the other one has much sharper edges (couldn't quite get a picture) that feel like a cheap mold.
**Man, these photos suck. ***Okay, that's better.
^ Speaking of Amazon, I'm starting to get pissed off at sellers for not detailing if a disc has been through a buffer machine or not. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered something with "zero scratches" only for it to arrive and have that stupid buffer ring in the center.

Wow this sounds like something from a different era. From the then contemporaneous PS2, I mean.
Today i got two original PS2 controllers at a flea market. When i get home to test them, the PS2 goes kinda crazy. For example, i tried Raiden 3, and when the controllers are plugged in, the PS2 acts like i'm pressing random buttons on the controllers, but i'm not touching the controller. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
What i find strange is that when i tried my two controllers that only i've owned, one of those controllers have the same issue. The reason why i find this strange is because it worked perfectly fine before. I havnt used my PS2 in years though, so its shouldnt be a wear-and-tear issue. Could it be some corrosion thing or something that happends with some PS2 controllers?
My other controller works fine however, which makes me think that the problem lies with the controllers themself and not with the PS2 itself.
That sucksThis happened to me the other day with one of my controllers. I opened all of them up to clean them because some where not registering certain button presses as cleanly so I decided to do some maintenance on them by wiping clean the contacts. I opened my 4 and only one of them acted this way after the cleanings. Just like yours, all the buttons seem to be being pressed at once. Proceeded to open it again and clean it and wipe the contacts of dust in case something was stuck. I put it back together and still it was the same. Did it several times and it seemed to be a bit better but still not in proper working order. So I have no idea either whats up but all my other ones are in perfect working order. :/
Any recommendations of 2D/2.5D side-scrollers for PS2? Especially stuff like Klonoa 2, but pretty open. Thank you!
PS2 and the whole 6th generation is probably the only generation which is still relevant as of today (FFX remaster on PS4). I mean, the vast majority of those games are perfectly enjoyable and playable (comparing to the blocky 3D mess that the majority of gen5 games were) and we are well into the 8th gen of consoles.
Tekken 5
Gran Turismo 3-4
All the Rachets
All the Jaks
SOTC and Ico, GOW series, DMC 1-3
Games that really holding up even in 2015 and are still perfectly enjoyable.
Probably the true golden era of gaming that won't EVER be replicated again. (Lack of budget, high development costs, shortage of creativity, fall of JP devs, rise of mobile gaming).
The only thing that i WON'T miss from that gen is the cheap and horrible PAL conversion of many titles.
Light Gun games, how are Dino Stalker, Resident Evil Dead Aim, or Vampire Night? I know Time Crisis is automatic.
Have you played the Viewtiful Joe games?
I just ordered a Official Wireless Dualshock 2, any impressions for it?
Looks more official then that, like identicalThe licensed one made by Katana? This thing:
I had one a few years ago. Uh sorry to say but it's kinda shit. The buttons feel like they have sandpaper on the side, the d-pad is terribad, the analogs feel really loose, and my right analog actually broke while I was playing FF12. I think the shoulder buttons were pretty bad as well.
You'd think since they were licensed that they could have copied Sony's mold for the DS2 but I guess not.

Exactly that but black.
I have a feeling its fake.
I thought so, as long as it's identical to the real DS2 and feels good I'm ok with it.Yeah that looks like something you'd find on ebay direct from China.
I'm sure it can't be worse than the thing I bought.
