PS3 Home Official Thread

It was capped, and I think the cap was around50-80?

Edit: they need to sell a skateboard, rollerblades, hover shoes, and such in home. I want to do stuff while waiting on game launches. Dancing isn't cutting it. Grind on the public property, pull off tricks, play with the frisbee or beach ball. Something.

I thought the cap was 32 per instance, IDK where I heard that from, but that's what I thought it was, they'll release a list on Tuesday or Wed so we'll know for sure.

Yea 30 sounds right, it just seem like a lot more was in there. I wasn't going to count lol. A lot of people was also upstairs too. Not when the mod was in, but before the event officially started.
 
The cap can't be 30(ish)..

I asked around and was told multiple times that it was 60 (around, since some told 62, other 64, other 68)..I went one by one counting and counted 58 at one time..

Everyone was also dissapointed because, appearently a moderator from Home was supposed to walk by and visit..yet noone came..people started leaving the place when people were informed in other forums that the contest ended..
 
The public spaces are larger. I think 64 is the limit. I heard 100 is also possible if Sony allocates a big instance.

The private spaces (e.g., clubhouse and apartment) are smaller.... like 32 or even 16.

Instead of making each instance bigger, they should make the whole Home more seamless, the downloads when you go from place to place is ridiculous.

Thanks for the info, wish the mod would've mentioned when exactly we're getting Warhawk, SOCOM, Resistance 2, SFIV and RE5 spaces.

I was in a lobby since 4 or 5pm and once it filled everyone started dancing. I joined the dancing at around 7 after chatting with "leon". My PS3 froze after entering the huge crowd of running man dancers. So after that I kept trying to "go to" justintimeROA and jason_ac. After about 15 minutes I got lucky and got into an instance justin was in. He left seconds after I joined. That was the winning instance! We saw MOD text at 9 telling us to stay ninja-like and remind us no winner was selected and then later Locust and Cydonia showed up and told us we won. They said a ninja video would be up in the plaza for tonight and then at the mall later but I didn't see it.

I love me some Warhawk and all, but they should take the Warhawk 'zone' and reskin it, change the maps and make it the Killzone 'zone'...this woulda been huge in 2007 for Warhawk...

It's a common chat room scaling strategy. IBM used to run a seamless virtual world platform called Butterfly Grid. It's defunct now. Probably too much infrastructure and you need to program in certain way to take advantage of the platform.

Take a look at the EU home and you'll begin to wonder other things... like if there was a zombie outbreak and there's no longer anybody left to push out updates. It's not changed at all since its release, except for the standard updates everyone gets.

Fortunately, the Helghast won’t be armed with STA-52 Light Assault Rifles (per se), but with demo codes for Killzone 2.

So if you don’t already have access (by pre-ordering), just jump into Home tonight starting at about 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern) and keep an eye out for the Helghast soldiers. When you find one, work up the courage and… just ask. If they’ve got any left, they’ll direct message you with the demo key.

Then you can punch that code into the PlayStation Store (upper right corner), download the demo, and repay the Helghan emissary by… invading their planet. Oh well.

Does anyone know when JP Home's SIREN Lounge is usually opened? Everytime I go there, I always greeted with a "Closed" sign and I can't go beyond the outside of what looks like a theme park.
 
Sony is pulling out all the stops to make home a successful endeavor. Giving away KZ2 beta codes? Cool if you didn't already DL it from t he EU store.

I remember someone got all angry at me or something by giving me attitude even though I wasn't fighting them or anything; mostly I was just talking to my friend. In any case I got angry and reported them too, overall I think I've reported maybe three people though.
 
i had a very funny conversation at home with a guy lately who swear Bioshock ps3 was 1080p because his TV said so. A lot of little kids and fanboys been there who commented and said most of PS3 games are 1080 and stuff.
 
i was there for the meetup chat and locust said everything that we have seen in the 2007 demo of HOME(must be the GDC announcement trailer?) is coming. Streaming videos, picture frames, 10 room theater etc....

Cant wait!:D

Indeed. But it's too much to hope for timescales I guess. Gah. I've always been a believer in Home. But the recent vibe I picked up of log in to find out what's happened and the latest updates... rubs me up the wrong way. I've never seen Home event news on the official UK PS site either.

Humbug. I'll continue to rely on GAF. Roll on Warhawk room... : )

Paramount Pictures is readying a major marketing push into Sony's PlayStation Home service for the upcoming film Watchmen, with exclusive footage, a filmmaker Q&A session, and of course, Watchmen costumes for your avatar.

The film adaptation of Alan Moore's classic comic book series The Watchmen is a major deal for Paramount, and no on is safe from their relentless marketing campaign; not even the residents of Sony's PlayStation Home. With exclusive clips of the film already available for viewing, the PlayStation Home Watchmen invasion escalates on February 27th, when players can purchase exclusive clothing and items for their avatar, including clothing, a doomsday clock, and a couple of fine-looking costumes of characters Nite Owl and Rorschach. >

Then on March 6th, Paramount is hosting the first-ever filmmaker Q&A session in PlayStation Home, featuring the movie's director Zack Snyder (of 300 fame) along with graphic novel artist Dave Gibbons. While the Q&A is an invitation-only event limited to 10 guests, it will be streamed majestically across the internet, eventually incorporated into a full Watchmen webcast that includes footage from the film and clips from the UK premiere .

The PlayStation Home push is being orchestrated by the fine folks at specialist film marketing agency Picture Production Company and Deluxe Corporation, who previously worked on one hell of an amazing Second Life campaign for the Transformers movie, complete with custom transforming robot avatars. You know, for the kids.

While I've not spent too much time in PlayStation Home at this point, I might have to log in long enough to pick up a sweet Nite Owl costume. Wake me up on the 27th please.

I was in the beta. It was a blast, it's just that game after game was released and I never got around to buying it. Even now with Killzone coming up. I'll have something new to play while I wait for it. I picked the slowest delivery option for Killzone (Amazon).

Edit: So max capacity was 65. I was close on my first guess (not really).

Huh, I know that feeling. Except in reverse. Warhawk has stopped me playing other games. And I mean a shitload of other games.

More messages? I found Locust_Star and he said Sensoo Taka Sanyuuu Mokuyoubi..which apparently meants Warhawk space this Thursday or something. I didn't know theere were multiple messages though.
 
Ok so what we got during the "Ninja hunt" was a hint about Warhawk Home space coming soon. It was later confirmed by the Sony press release. Now there were other vague messages being said but those have to do with a bigger "event/release" coming soon. Its has to do with [Xi] , this weird sign that keeps showing up in most of Home's videos for a few seconds along with the weird cryptic messages on the PDA. Its like a viral thing but within HOME. It all seems to lead to a new Home space coming up but it could be about a new game of sorts. ATM we truly dont know.

Some think that it has to do with KZ2's release, which it could, but the sign "Xi" makes it really hard to guess what surprise is coming up.
