PS4 Firmware 3.0 Features

10 GB of storage is nice, but Sony should consider finding a way to trim down the bloated saved data files. Some of those files seem way too large for the scope of the games they're working with.

Does that have to do with Sony or the developer?

I wish they had an update for fixing the media player. Its straight garbage right no subtitle support and a majority of my files not even reading

Dead serious. Folders, pinning, give me fucking something.

I can only imagine the people who don't care about this haven't been signed up to PS+ from launch day. I have about 100 games & apps combined at this point for fuck's sake, many still untouched and forgotten.

Crazy that on PS3 I was able to make a 'PS+ backlog' folder to guide me as to what I was planning to play next (and get through things in case my sub ran out, which it sometimes did) but on PS4 'tis impossible.

Does that have to do with Sony or the developer?

It must be Sony, as not every dev would be choosing precisely 10.49MB as their save file size on a whim or as coincidence. Occam's Razor suggests that this is just the PS4 minimum, and it's stupid.

It almost has to be Sony, I don't think I've seen a game save less than 10.4 MB, and the larger ones tend to be multiples of 10.4 MB depending on how many save slots you use. There's a couple video apps that have smaller saves, but that's about it.

I think is the new section for content you share, archived recordings and captures, not live streamings, there are also a Facebook icon,

But why the Youtube, Twitter and Facebook icons? I think it means that the app is able to pull from those websites, so hopefully that includes livestreams.

Seriously wtf Sony.where's friend notifications and folders I'm beginning to think Sony takes pleasure in not listening but I do appreciate the 10gb etc

- Folders
- Improve the online
- Fix messaging (assuming it isn't fixed already)
- Add sub communities to the community (assuming it isn't a thing)
- Seriously I don't care how they do it make it so the process if the PS4 shuts off accidentally like say to a power outage while it's in rest mode doesn't require all the pain in the ass work.

I addressed the online stability, it's weird that you would choose to ignore that part of my post. The other things you mention either don't bother or don't affect me.

Bluetooth headset support is still missing, isn't it?

At this point I honestly can't think of many more things that I want, I'd be happy if all they did for the rest of the PS4's lifespan was improve the network

I have used the PS4 almost exclusively since launch and reckon I have deleted maybe 2 gigs in total. With a bit of maintenance it should be enough for most people. I could be talking outta my arse though, time will tell.
To be fair it does seem fairly ample. IIRC Driveclub and Alien Isolation are pretty big (at least for me I think each is around 200MB or more) but overall it should balance out as a lot of save files seem a lot smaller.

1GB though - like you I was constantly chopping/changing and dumping less treasured saves to a flash drive. It sucked.

10GB seems a decent hike.

Mostly social bullshit.

the current social crap is Facebook/Twitter garbage that is useless. if this is what I think it is it means dedicated tools for setting up play sessions like Destiny raids and people who play the games you play. for example, someone of GAF can crate a group and people can join players without having to go third party means like the forum itself.

with friends lists getting into the hundreds some sorting options and organization have been needed for a while.

I see. I wonder why they would do that?

I like the upgrade from 1GB to 10GB, but I'm still not seeing the folder option or friend notifications.

People who want features that haven't been hinted at yet: are you telling PS employees on Twitter etc about 'em? They really do seem to listen (PNG screens a very good example) so you should go and make yourselves heard.

Wait and see, Fallout 4 save files are gonna be 1 GB each. We'll be right back where we started :)

That community thingy sounds awesome. If it's anything like miiverse I'm gonna use it a lot! :)
And thanks for the 10gigs, Sony!

Regardless, this isn't worthy of a 3.00 update to be honest. Sony have a long way to go in terms of UI structure –– the minimalism of the PS4 hampers its usability.

Omg I stop reading after the Cloud Storage bulletpoint, this just made my day. 1GB was not enough and my latest saves weren't able to be stored in the cloud. Can't wait.

Thank you for PNG screens, based @toshimasa_aoki.

For those that don't know, that's the guy you should be sending requests to for firmware updates. Yoshida tweeted that out to people earlier this year. One of the first tweets he responded to was about PNG's

Great update. Especially the 10gb storage.

I got burnt when I didn't realise I maxed out my online storage over a year ago, played through 'til very late in Bloodborne and had to factory reset my PS4, then checked the online storage after, and my heart sunk when my progress wasn't in there. It was my own fault for not checking :(

That 10gb was so needed. My last few saves haven't been able to be uploaded and there was nothing I really wanted to clear out.
