PS4 Firmware 3.0 Features

Wow 10GB and PNG sounds like fanfic.
There are only a few highly requested features left (on/off notifications, ID change, PS2 emulation, playtime tracker...).

Still an improvement. The full store with that design would of been amazing though.

The PS4 library is garbage. It doesn't even include all of the items that I've purchased over the years. I shouldn't have to pull my PS3 out.

As for the 3.00 bit, it's common sense that 3.0 = major update. I don't need to develop software to understand that.

All PNG's are compressed, think of it as the equivalent to the FLAC format(or apple lossless) in audio. Lossless format, but still uses a compression algorithm.

BMP would be a uncompressed and lossless image file, but the file sizes would be enormous, like .WAV in audio.

Not really. A 3.00 update should have added things that people actually cared about. Not events and Twitter. 10 GB is a joke too.

Can be a thing only in US Store, each region store has its sections, etc...

huh? why would the ps4 list your ps3 and vita games? i would NOT want that on my console. what's the point if you can't download or play those games on the ps4?

Your PS4 should list items that it cannot use or play? Man you're really reaching. That'd be more confusing. The web store has a shitty version of what you're after.

No it's not common sense actually. Programs like Google Chrome have largely changed how some developers think about software versioning. It's an assumption based on old data.

For most users the update version is not even going to be an issue for them. Their console will download it and they'll have to install it at their leisure and keep on playing.
 
Other than storage, not a whole lot to get excited about. Feels more like a 2.5 than a full 3.0 update. Hopefully the other stuff in the update is more substantial than it sounds.

Yes and that's why they're putting these major new features and changes in 3.0.

@topic: great update, now they should finally fix the download speed issues.
 
Meh, as someone who rarely goes online this update doesn't do a whole lot for me. Just give us folders gosh darn it 😣
 
I don't care about the social features (I don't like that a button is wasted on "share"), but I'm glad they upped the limit to 10GB for online storage. I stopped playing games like Driveclub because the saves were so huge and prevented every other save from getting upload.
