Expected once the official cuts started elsewhere but props to those who called it even earlier than that.
The division between PS4/XB1 sales really was getting too narrow in US and it felt like time for Sony to use price directly to drive further demand.
Should be interesting holiday period. I still figure XB1 will sell more in US but that doesn't really matter so much as what the gap is if they do. So long as Sony remain overall ahead by decent margin come 2016 they're in good shape IMHO. Being ahead over 2 years into the gen in US should mean they can hold the lead throughout so long as they remain competitive in the market.
Post holiday period the lower price with bigger exclusives finally starting to arrive (U4) should help them too.
I think XB1 will do well too and enter 2016 in respectable position in US but while the lead isn't huge I'm really thinking Sony is going to manage to hold them off fully closing the gap now.
Although there's still plenty of years to go yet so who knows MS might still find a way of closing the gap in the end.
