Are you making a general statement? Just curious because if your PS4 was DOA, how did the rubber on your DS4 go bad with nothing to play?
Wow, I'm continuing to love this system. I spent almost six hours in BF4, and despite a couple crashes, it's been an amazing experience. It's my first real online shooter so I'm gettting destroyed, but it's an insane amount of fun.
I tested the f2p games too. Warframe and DCUO both look great. I'll likely drop some time here and there in those games. Blacklight: Retribution, not so much. Not a fan in the least.
Can't wait for another day of PS4 gaming tomorrow!

Official release in Argentina is November 29th. I do not own a PS4 (yet) so, yes I'm making a general statement.
I don't mean to overreact, please don't take me wrong. From 1500 reviews in amazon 450 of them are rated with 1 star. People with product issues tend to vent things out and rant about it more often than people who doesn't, I am aware of that.
But basically I was really hyped and now the hype went down. Anyway, I strongly believe PS4 is a great system nonetheless!
I hope when I get mine it goes as well as yours hah!
A large number of those 1-star reviews aren't even from people that bought their PS4 (IF they bought a PS4 at all) from Amazon.
450 sounds like a lot.
Until you consider they sold and shipped tens (or possibly hundreds) of thousands of PS4s.
Question: I used the 30 day PSN+ trial that came with the console, have a year code and a 7 day code ready to redeem.
1: If I redeem the year code now, will it stack on top of the 30 day trial I just started today?
2: The 7 day trial I got from Killzone keeps giving me an error when I redeem it. Can I not stack it on top of my existing trial?

From what I can tell, you can only use trial codes if you don't currently have PS+ and you can't stack trial codes
You can stack paid for codes/subscriptions though
Like if I bought 2 years of PS+ cards I could stack them

Considering the 1m sold, the failure rates at this point well within expectations but may main concern ATM is PSN running like shit & the online MP of certain titles affecting this, main reason I'm getting a PS4 is to play BF4 64 players, just hope shit gets sorted I time for euro launch.
Have Sony commented on PSN issues? as jumping ship from xbox the one thing I expect XBone to do well day 1 is XBL will azure servers already up to speed to handle demand, kinda got me doubting my purchase :-(

I was able to stack the 30 day trial code with my year PS Plus membership. It's weird though, because it shows up as two separate items on the console when I check memberships, and doesn't show the end date for my year membership at all. It does however show the end date for the 30 day trial as 11-28-14. I got my year membership on 10-27-13 or thereabouts. Maybe I got the extra 30 days or maybe I caused myself a future headache.

Question to Xbox 360 owners playing PS4
Is the new PS4 Party Chat system/Invites etc on par with what Xbox 360 does? Is just as smooth and easy to invite/join games etc if you are use to 360?=)

1M sell through in 24hrs is exactly why PSN is having such trouble. That's a LOT of concurrent connections on launch weekend. The further out from Friday we get, the better it will get as fewer and fewer people are all trying to access PSN at the same time.
I fully expect MS to experience the same issues next Friday with XBL (unless they sold far fewer systems)...
There was a post on the internet of a picture of a PS4 controller with some sticks that looked haggard.
I haven't had any problems with mine, but from the looks of that pic, it was the kind of wear you'd get from hundreds of hours of use. If there truly is a problem it won't be widespread for weeks at the earliest, maybe months.

there was a separate thread about this...but most of the reports seem to be second hand (i.e. here is a picture of someone from reddit who's stick tore off) or from ds4s used at a demo kiosk. something about the plastic wearing away.

Yeah I understand that its just when seeing issues like people not being able to play 64p conquest BF4 & stuff then I have my wobbles lol.
The XBL point was that azure is already well up to speed from a business stand point, yes there will be hiccups but I don't expect half as many as PSN.
I think the best thing for me to do is take a GAF blackout until launch(damn gonna be hard) guess like everyone I just want my new shiny to be perfect day1 outta the box & most of my friends list is sticking with XBone so don't want the "I told you so's" lol.
It was my understanding that the problems with Conquest in BF4 were on EA. Has something changed?

My ps4 left the USA on Thursday afternoon and was actually here in China on Friday. It's taken 2 days to clear customs and will arrive tomorrow morning. Can't wait!
I shouldn't complain.. Actually that's pretty fast shipping considering how far the item has come. Can't stop worrying about the state of the console though. I hope they packed it securely..

I've been watching some videos and it does not appear that there is a "game library" section in the UI. You have your top XMB-style menu system which has "notifications" "settings", etc. Then down one row you have that dynamic menu which has your most recent games and some other stuff.

yep one of the complaints. no filters or sorting, or folders. they just toss all of your recently downloaded/installed games on there.

There is a library, it's the bookshelf Icon. It displays your games/apps in rows of rectangles, showing 9ish (guessing, at work) at once, you move down to move through them.
The list that you see horizontally on the main screen is just your most recent applications used.

It's in alphabetical by default, I don't recall if there are sorting options but I would guess the options button would prompt with something.
There's a setting on the PS4 you'll have to change, but yeah. It defaults to just voice chat, I believe.

.Yeah, it's way too early to tell. I've seen controllers at Kiosks have their sticks looking like that, but one that's only seen home use? Never. I think people are abusing the kiosk controllers with keys or box cutters or god knows what.
My two DS4s have seen about 12-15 hours of Knack play by little kids, who are not super gentle nor do they practice the best hygiene, and I've spent a good deal of time with them as well. Both still appear brand new.
My gut tells me it's overreaction to what typically happens to public game controllers at best, FUD at worst.
According to the FAQ, as long as the HDD is less than 9.5mm thick and is a SATA II 5400 RPM it should work (as long as it's bigger than 160GB)
The only 2T internal hard drive that can fit in the PS4's bay is the Samsung Spinpoint M9T. Seagate, ironically, makes it for them.
It is super brand new, and I don't think it's widely available for sale yet.
I would go with a cheap 1T drive for now if you need the space. Personally, I'm holding off. I have about 5 games installed plus another 5-6 PSN titles, plus a bunch of DLC, and still have like 250 gigs free. Since the saves are stored in the cloud, I'm not really concerned about having to reinstall just the games I'm playing when I upgrade.
Also, I've kinda spent enough money at this launch! Heh.

I didnt know it was an EA issue, my bad! but was generally speaking about MP with BLR also going down etc I guess we have to allow for the infrastructure to mature before making generalisations.

Vita also handles invitation at a game level, similar to the PS4. You send invites from the game, but I think you can also receive them via the Dynamic Menu. It isn't like Xbox LIVE where you can invite anyone to your game via the Guide.
I could be totally wrong on this, but this is what I've noticed in my two-or-so days of playing Killzone.
They probably don't. Once I noticed that the system didn't label or provide an image for the
Blu-ray movie in the tray, I knew they cut out a whole bunch of non gaming stuff to make launch. I'm sure we'll have a very different PlayStation 4 in six months.

Downloads are completely fucked for me. The FIFA 14 demo went very slow (around 100KB/s) last night, so I cancelled it and wanted to try it again. This morning, it appears in my Library with a download icon. I try to download it and get kicked back to the main screen of the UI. The icon doesn't appear there and it does not switch to downloading when I check on it in the Library.
Is it just me?

I was playing a game last night. Paused it to watch something on Netflix. When the show was over I went back to the game instantly with no loading just a double click of the PS button - my mind was blown.
