PS4 Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

I just tried to pop a USB stick with videos I played on the ps3 in this thing...so it doesn't even do video files anymore? Or is there a setting I missed?

Happened to me once, couldn't figure out why there was no audio in Netflix. Then noticed there was no audio anywhere. Freaked out a bit, but system restart solved it.

Normally for lithium battery it is generally advisable not to fully drain it:

Similar to a mechanical device that wears out faster with heavy use, so also does the depth of discharge (DoD) determine the cycle count. The shorter the discharge (low DoD), the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid full discharges and charge the battery more often between uses

I had no problems with deleted saves but I only really played it yesterday and today. It's pretty standard military shooter fare so it's only 5 or 6 hours.
 
curious, how amazon.de will accomplish the current logistics problems in their warehouse (workers are on strike). Don't know, if amazon.de can make it on release day.
(purchased on saturday 3ds xl with zelda with assured delivery on monday... well, it's tuesday and it's still not here...)
 
Just to confirm, the PS4 firmware files will be identical across regions and hardware revisions, right? That was the case with the PS3. Do we know why the EU mirror of the firmware files was taken down?

Fucking hope so! Love 3D on me Hmz-t1, and been waiting/pumped up for Black Flag more than any other Launch title. And, being 3D (if so) would send me over the moon. LOL

I don't know. You can go the the sen website and go to games for ps4 and click the 3d. Aciv pops up and nba2k

Same. A little shocked by the lack of battery life. I really wish they would have beefed up the internal battery capacity of this thing or made it use AA's. Too bad because I'm really enjoying the controller otherwise.
 
Yeah, the battery life is complete shit. I have to charge it after each session. Not really an issue, but just doesn't make sense that it's so much worse than my PS3 controller.

It 'makes sense' because the controller has a light and enhanced rumble features, but yes it is completely shitty that I have to remember to plug my controller in every night so that I don't end up having to sit 3 foot away from my huge ass television and try to game.
 
Any word on a new firmware? I can't wait for them to fix some things!

This is the worst thing. It was my most used feature on the PS3... so Is till have to use it for that. I hope they update it!

Quick question. Anyone know if logitech blue tooth keyboard I used to use with ps3 works on ps4. I don't really have any practical use for it and don't exactly remember where I put it but it would be cool if I could find it and it worked.

Obviously YMMV, but my sticky button issues resolved themselves with more use. Weird lol. I had a sticky square and R1. All good now. Give it a week or two?
 
Welp, silly me.

I always assumed I would manage to find a PS4 on launch day in a department store so I never bothered pre-ordering (Australia), as the release is coming this Friday I decided to phone around a bit and to my surprise almost all stores including the big department have told me I will have to wait for 2014.

Some said they might get a shipment by Christmas and one told me if they get more in on the day than they have allotted pre-orders I can get one but come early.

A little defeated I decided to phone a department store in a semi rural town a hour and a half or so drive away from the city and I am happy to say I struck gold, preordered two today (one for myself and one for my nephew) for Nov 29 release.

Bought nba 2k14 from the digital store, first large game purchase for me. It seems to have downloaded 17gb to start the game but doesnt want to DL much after that...so I can only play quick matches.

It doesnt appear on my DL list anymore besides saying complete but if I go to info it says dl status 17/45gb.

Do I need to leave the game open to DL the rest of the file or something?
 
I wasn't sure if it was okay to ask, but I was trying to get a friend of mine a trial for PSPlus so that he could get Gravity Rush for the Vita. All I can find is trials for UK first-timers. Does anyone know of any other promotion that would allow a trial of plus or would I have to start browsing ebay and such? D:

I'm having a really annoying issue. My PS4 seems unable to detect the output settings on my tv at times. I just did 5 restarts because the screen was zoomed in at startup and I couldnt get it back to normal. I tied going into screen and sound settings but in didn't see anything in there. Any help? It's driving me nuts!

I remember doing a setting where you can adjust the size of apps for your tv screen. I don't remember if it was initial setup or launching a game. Try launching a game. If that doesn't work, factory reset and redo initial setup (that's what I would do).

Edit: Try another HDMI input on your tv, if you have one. Or double check the connection

I just bought my Vita today so I could quickly download it as well! I'm so excited for it! :) I appreciate it very much~ I've been searching for hours just to find a trial fast enough. We're going to get PSPlus on black friday but by then, the game will be out of rotation. Dx Thank yoooou!

There are only two things that stand out about the BF campaign.

1. The graphics. You will be wowed. Especially compared to Ghosts which is nothing more then an HD up port.

2. The horrendous writing. Do you like swearing? How about yelling? How about swearing while your yelling? Ugh. And people say the writing is bad in Shadow Fall. Try BF4, you'll change your mind.

Beyond that it's like what you said, it's just a standard military shooter of (in my case) 4 hours length. If anyone is only interested in the campaign do not buy this game. Redbox it.

Well you're in luck, GR and Uncharted will remain in the Vita PS+ until further notice!

Nope, sold is sold, doesn't matter whether it gets delivered in time.

I remain optimistic that Amazon doesn't screw up, they know how important release date delivery is with such a launch. Maybe even start sending them out a day earlier to be safe (one can always hope...).

You could always load it with another source (mobile phone charger or from lapto / computer usb port). Atleast my solution will be this. Console is so long from gaming place (~4 meters) and laptop is near. Ill charge my DS3 with laptop (mini usb) and it should work same way (micro usb) with DS4.

I have a USB wall charger that came with my phone that I use to charge the controller. There's no need to ever use the PS4 to charge the controller.
