Is it friday yet

I assume since Australian orders are currently being added to a waiting list due at the end of February there is zero chance of getting one launch weekend? Especially in the isolated Perth of all places.

I feel for all the parents that have no idea about the shortage in supply we will have here and the many that may be thinking of getting their kid/s a PS4 for Christmas but won't actually be able to do that.

SO I GOT MY PS4 YESTERDAY!

its SO SLICK

Welcome to the party!

Yeah the system is slick as fuck. It is the centerpiece of our living room and everyone loves it. Everyone loves everything about it. The UI, the controller, the system itself, the sound out of the controller, music unlimited, sharing, etc. etc. I lost count of all the Woah's I get when people come over to hang out, especially when throwing in a game of Res0gun.

As this is the first Tuesday of the PS4's launch, can we expect any new PS4 demos or anything to hit the market?

So what's the latest on headsets - which ones currently work? I have the official Sony PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset but I'm guessing that won't work at launch.

With 3 PS4 games installed and a couple indie titles I'm down to 290GB, 500GB can't be the standard for for much longer

Also loving my first 24 hours with the system

Not bad! :)

Maybe I'll change the HDD, the next year, with a 1TB or 2TB, when will cost much less!

But for the moment I think those 500GB will be enough and will advance as well! :)

It can be for anyone buying retail since the games install in the background.

408 GB usable means about 10 full installs give or take. I'm not going to be playing that many games at once.

So you're getting one fellow Perth-dweller?

3 retail games, 3 indies, and Warframe and 726GB left. That 1TB will definitely be like the new 320GB with all the games doing full installs. Glad I went with this one.

plus it seems like physical games install pretty damn quickly, so fridge management won't be that frustrating.

Still have my 1TB SSHD ready to go. Can't have my new PS4 with a smaller HDD than my PS3 :)

i've been begging for over 5 years.
You could always load it with another source (mobile phone charger or from lapto / computer usb port). Atleast my solution will be this. Console is so long from gaming place (~4 meters) and laptop is near. Ill charge my DS3 with laptop (mini usb) and it should work same way (micro usb) with DS4.

I have a USB wall charger that came with my phone that I use to charge the controller. There's no need to ever use the PS4 to charge the controller.

I feel like a moron for not thinking about doing this. Thanks for making me feel like a moron and offering a solution to sitting 3 foot away from my TV. LOL

Thanks man.. Yeah Last night I got home at like 9pm
And popped in NBA2k Oh man i couldn't believe how "SLICK" it was.

Great experience so far. I got 3 other games but only managed to play NBA 2k and Resogun until 3am. I'm at work this morning feeling like I'm hung over.

it isn't a silly thing - the PS3 controllers were quite fussy about how they charged. I never managed to charge one from a wall socket - only the PS3 or a PC

I really love my PS4, but I won't lie when I'm say I'm disappointed in just how barebones he entertainment options are. They really need to improve that, and hopefully soon. I also have trouble understanding why they couldn't get their official PS3 Bluetooth remote control to work. That thing is amazing for navigating the UI and media apps, and it's absence on ps4 has caused me to continue using PS3 for my media stuff. That seems counter-productive to have to keep around both systems for something the new system should be perfectly capable of doing itself.

I got my PS4 from Best Buy (after having to return a defective Amazon PS4)

I LOVE IT! It's so slick and smooth, the messaging system is fun to use IMO, switching between apps is awesome. I was playing CoD: Ghosts multiplayer going from the PS Store over to the Internet app, and the finally over to Netflix, the PS4 prompted me that it would suspend CoD Ghosts for Netflix and I watched it a bit and then just tapped on the CoD Ghosts icon and I was brought back to the same spot. So cool!

Can't wait to try out all the other features.

NBA 2k14 is like 40GB, buying a disc still loads the entire game on the HD

Using a 3.5mm jack cable should work, assuming it has one. I'm using the Pulse Elite version that way. Only stereo sound and mic for now but hey.

Anyone know why updates aren't downloading in the background on standby mode? I have it set in the settings so it does, bit every time I switch my ps4 on it begins to download whatever's needed.

Isn't that the point of standby?

I have the same problem and wonder the same thing.

I think NBA2K14 is, so far, the most annoying game to install. It's the only game that I don't want to delete from the HDD because of the dreaded install.

It took me 59 seconds to install from the dashboard. When you put the disc in for the first time just let it install automatically, don't launch the game and play the pick up game as it slows the process down drastically.

I think a lot of us have forgotten just how much Sony added to the PS3 over time with firmware updates. Initially you couldn't bitstream the high res audio on blu-ray, only option was to output LPCM. And of course 3d playback wasn't there initially, but added later in firmware.

I would guess a lot of the media capabilities will be added to the PS4 over time, much like on the PS3. Right now, the focus is on games.

Ha, can't wait for the European pals to hop on Killzone SF! Lots of noobs like it's Christmas... =p

I'm posting up a Killzone SF multiplayer impressions/review/recommendations video later today if anyone is interested in that.

How many gigs does the console needs to download before you can start playing Knack? If I recall correctly, the game is almost 40 GBs.

So the BF4 update came out and the PS4 is gonna tell me it's gonna take about 8 hours to download all 670 mb.

I thought this was fucking next-gen, you're telling me that I'm gonna have to spend my day off waiting on this piece of fucking shit download? It says I have 12.7 Mbps connection speed (wired also) and now it's just taking its sweet fucking time? 8 fucking hours. What. The. Fucking. Fuck.

Go drown yourself PSN.

Did you enable it under settings-> power save options (something like that)?

I just want to say that I've been pretty much making time to play with the PS4 as much as I can since launch day. I still love it. The OS getting dismissed by the media annoys me. It has plenty of options already and will continue to improve over its lifecycle. Sorting and folders, for example, will no doubt come in the months to follow. But what is there right now is the fastest and best organized console operating system out there. It's a pure pleasure to use.

The controller still blows me away. I'm really happy with the Xbox One's controller too but it feels very similar to the 360's. I was never a fan of the dual shock before but I never had much of an issue with it either. The DS4 is perfect though. It feels fresh and fun to use.

Seriously, the PS4 is fantastic and I'm really excited to see how the games and the system evolve over the coming years.

Edit: I had download speed issues on the PS3 but the downloads on the PS4 haven't been going slow for me. They're as fast as all my other devices on my connection.

Welcome to the club. Is AT&T your ISP?

You bet your ass I have AT&T. That name will always get the same response whenever I complain about my internet on the internet.

Use Gooles or OpenDNS DNS servers. I had ATT service as well and it sucked hariy whale taint. I changed my dns server to openDNS and it was an amazing night and day difference.

There's definitely something wrong with the PSN servers. My buddy that lives not even a mile away, on a different ISP, was able to download 1.51 at 2MB/s. Me, on the other hand, couldn't even touch my theoretical max of 2.25 megabytes with the FIFA 14 demo. Would have required over a day.

Yes, that's why I said 408 GB usable should mean about 10 full games installed, and that I won't be playing that many at once.

My point about physical is that you don't have to have a large HDD to save yourself using bandwidth, and the games will install from disk far faster than they can be downloaded.
