My console is silent except when I'm playing NBA 2K14, then the disc drive makes quite a bit of noise.
To be fair it's not so much a "oh shit my drive is buggered" kinda noisy, it's just spinning at some serious speed.

Clicking sound? Mine just beeps, and spins the drive if there's a disc in. That's it.
I've replaced the HDD with a SSHD if that makes a difference.

Showed up and there were about 7 people trying to next gen consoles. They went and found the Xbox one's people wanted. Three people, two of which were parents. Then they were looking for the PS4s and turns out they didn't have any. They thought they were getting some but of course didn't. 4 people were there looking for PS4s

Mine makes that clicking sound as well, I assumed it was just the normal noise of turning it on and off.

Its noisy when it installs the game or boots up the game. Honestly, after that, I don't notice it. This is with me sitting 5 feet away from it. Maybe the game drowns it out?
It seems to depend on the game.
Killzone was quite loud, but I'm not sure if that was because it was still installing. Which is something that annoys me incidentally. It doesn't seem to give a installation percentage for the full installation anywhere. The percentage shown when you put the disk in is just the percentage up to which the game becomes playable.
The click must be harddrive releated, mine is dead silent.
Also, it seems PSN code redemption is back, my previously redeemed/not-working AC4: DLC codes worked this morning and downloaded properly.
I found out while playing killzone that mine gets really noisy under load. And it's not the disc or the install going on. At least I don't think so.Is there a way to know when the game is completely installed ?
I'm seriously considering contacting Sony actually, but the console runs flawlessly otherwise so I'm not sure. I will give it a week or so and try horizontal/vertical placement. We'll see.
Yeah I noticed the little menus under the games are back as well.
As I already mentioned, my console was the same when I tried Killzone. Also don't know whether it was installing.
That said it didn't worry me that much because it sounded exactly like the PS3 Slim does when it's running something quite intensive.

Same here, years of gaming has trained my brain to expect the Start button to be where the touch pad is on the DS4. I've been pausing my games by using the voice command to go back to the home screen, instead of fumbling for the options button.
Can you use voice commands in-game? How?
So... Finally getting round to giving my PS4 a good go today. Got it yesterday.
Everything was looking good. Then suddenly went to download Contrast and it turned itself off...
Thought nothing of it. Same thing happened about 10 minutes after I switched it back on. Randomly. Then it boots into safe mode and won't piss off. Restart doesn't do anything apart from going back into safe mode.
I clicked on the reinstall database(?) one, been working OK since... Should I be worried? Its playing FIFA OK at the moment. I noticed its when the USB charging cable is plugged in. Since I've taken it out, no problems. Sorry if similar stories have been posted... But I am wondering if I have a faulty unit right now.

Do you have power saving turned on? It's set to turn off after 20 minutes automatically I think. Could it be that?
Even if I'm using it? It literally turned off when I clicked download.
When I plug in the USB charging cable into the top USB slot, it restarts into safe mode...
After 3 or so days with the console, I'm still very happy with it. DS4 is incredible, Resogun is awesome and addictive, the menu is snappy and well thought out.
I have encountered some weird bugs though, the most severe of which was my notifications not showing up. Had to initialize my console to bring them back. I hope it doesn't happen again or Sony roll out a firmware patch that fixes it.

I guess not. I've had my charging cable plugged into that slot since I got the console and I've not seen safe mode once.
I hope your console is okay.

Anyone else got a sticky L1 or R1 buttons? When pressing L1 it occasionally sticks in then pops out shortly afterwards.
Maybe Sony/Amazon will replace it...

Loving the DS4,but think I'm going to have to send it in. Looks like I got one of the dodgy ones where the rubber on the top of the Left stick is quickly flaking away, where part of the inside edge of the ridge looks like it's already gone smooth. This is a UK unit to boot too.

I was playing, but then logged into another account and it told me that the password was invalid and I needed to change it. I sent the email, but so far haven't received it.
I went back to the account I was playing on and am now getting the same prompt for that one and still have no received the email for either of them.

Just occurred to me how much I want a Persona game on PS4... Dat remote play..
The shiny plastic part of the PS4 must have taken years and years of research to perfect, but they did it. Sony managed to make the most scratch prone surface in existence.
I can just imagine them at HQ. "We've done it sir! There is no microfiber cloth in the world that can touch this without leaving a hairline scratch! It marks up if you breathe on it wrong."

Is the players met function working for anyone?
Not showing anything for me, shame as had a good co-op session on Resogun and wanted to add the guy as a friend.
Having played with the DS4 for a few hours now, it is much improved over the DS3 but still not on the 360's level. Mostly little things, the one that is annoying me most is the sticks. They are too slippery, I have to keep readjusting when moving forward which you need to do in every game. Looking at the 360 which I don't have the problem with, it would have been a lot better if they used a concave middle so you get a better grip. Also, they should have made it longer as someone with normal hands my thumbs touch each other if both analogue sticks are facing each other.

Anyone else finding their PS4 isn't maxing out their internet speed? Trying to download and install digital games is taking HOURS. When I checked my network settings, the test showed I was only getting 10Mb/s, a third of what I get using my PC.
After buying BF4 and NBA 2k14 digitally, both games seem to "install" incredibly slowly. BF4 is downloading roughly 1% every 20 mins, NBA managed 3% during the time it took to play the whole demo match.
If this is the case for every digital game then I'm sticking to discs, this is ridiculous.

It's not maxing out my connection, but it is getting a lot more than that, 60 vs 75 d and 9 vs 18 u.

Yep. Both games are through my US account so whether it's got a rubbish connection to the US servers, I don't know. But having to leave the game on the title screen for what's likely to be a good few hours is ridiculous.
