Loving the PS4 but have noticed that killzone makes the console really hot and loud and that ghosts, killzone and knack are quite stuttery and not as smooth as I read they would be.
Anyone else experience this?

Nope, been playing KZ a lot this weekend and didn't notice an increase in heating or sound.

The only thing I've noticed as being 'weird' on the PS4 is that sometimes I hear a hard ticking sound.

My PS4 has the pretty much the same sound level on horizontal as in vertical (ie almost nothing) when running KZ. I've also never ever heard it click.

Hello fellow gaffers, need some help , my ps3 fat just broke today and i really need one (have a good library and still some games that i am waiting for) after purchasing a ps4 i am sort of out of money - pre christmas stress, my wife spending more then usual and i dont think ill get away with asking her for another console . Thing is i got ps4 killzone bundle and couple of other games im not really liking shadow fall and after the reviews i wanted to cancel my preorder of kz but turns out after having a ps4 vanilla and killzone ordered seperatly i was automatically bumped to the bundle wich i did not want after contacting my retailer shop to i was told either this or nothing :( my gripe is i want to trade that game to gather funds for a ps3 but the bundled one dosent have a barcode. I am not sure if i am breaking any rules her if yes just ignore it, but if its ok from any gaffers to post their scanned retail art uk version retail box cover so i can print it out, thanks a lot

Thanks I think outs time to give Amazon a call.

Ah, those'll be the ones that report back on your TV watching to LG :/

Only if you are watching on the built in tuner surely.

Mine isn't even plugged in.

I believe they also send any information played via the USB port, even possibly via the Smart/Networking features too. Fact is I don't mind if LG want to look at what I watch, as long as my TV is working fine and gets firmware updates quickly and easily I'm happy.

So I'm streaming Resogun to TwitchTV and when I go on a computer and head to Twitch to see the quality it reverts me to Justin.tv

Why is this?

In standby mode my PS4 fan is off (LED is orange) which I expect, but my friends is always on, even when its not downloading anything.

Anyone else noticed their fan being on or off in standby? (orange LED on)

Why is this?

Did you ever have a Justin.TV account? Mine did the same. I had to log into Justin.TV with my Twitch details, delete the account (which also deletes your Twitch one) and go to Twitch to make a new account. It's an ass pain.

I know, the Help pages stated that they could move Justin.TV accounts to Twitch up until May this year, but now the databases are separate. Which doesn't make sense since deleting one deletes the other :-/.

Thanks for the help. Guess I'm gonna have to do this.

Edit: and it worked. Thanks for the help. Gonna stream some Resogun properly now! Man I suck at this game. www.twitch.tv/st1ss

Its on but only ever so slightly you have to put your ear on the ps4 to hear it.

Also for people saying their ps4's are silent even on killzone don't pause to listen to it because the fans go into quiet mode mute your TV instead. You can hear the fans and they go up and down depending on which section you're in, but they're not very loud maybe a little bit louder than ps3 slim still quieter than 360 slim.

Can anyone explain what region to buy PS+ in?

I bought BF4 during the amazon US sale and I'm in the UK. I know that to play the game, I have to set my master account to the US one, is that right?

How about online?

Mine hardly makes any noise.

Regardless, based on numbers of noise responses, I'm basically changing my entire lounge to put the PS4 horizontally instead of vertically in my TV setup and inside a cabinet which is fairly airy but also kind of enclosed, it should acutallly still get half decent airflow, while reucing the noise output for me and not cook the thing.

I can't stand fucking noise - I'd rather pay $50 more for the console to be silent, I'd rather it were 15% bigger. Sony marketed the PS2, PS3 and PS4 (?) to the middle aged gamer, not just the kids, they style these things to look slick in a home theature unit, it's not a bright purple fucking gamecube. Why do they think ANY loud noise is acceptable from people with a bit of money?
:/

Is it just me or does the glossy part of the PS4 get small scratches easily?

I don't own one yet but yes EVERYONE is saying that, thanks for reminding me to basically wear gloves when handling it :(

I don't think you have to change anything to master account. Just that the PS4 is your primary PS4 for the US account. Your UK PSN+ account should work normally with the BF4 after that.

Not exactly because of the noise, but I wish they'd have gone with an external power brick instead of enclosing it. They would have more room to play with clock rates/cooling.

I wonder what the clock rates could be if there were no inner heat source from the power supply.

I think the issue is just how they've designed it. They skimped on fans to make it cheaper and made it more compact which makes it hotter anyway. Compare this to the xbox where its less compact and the psu is separate it ends up being significantly nosier.

Most people won't care though because cheaper is better and you can just drown out the noise with the game. I mean the noise doesn't really bother me too much anymore. The ps3 slim had the same issue.

How much are you guys enjoying Fifa 14 on Ps4? Is it worth to buy the console already just to play it until Destiny arrives?

It's basically the same as Fifa 14 on PS3 with a higher resolution. And it's missing two features I loved in the past: tournament mode and the ability to play coop online on one console. If I didn't get it for "free"(amazon b2g1) I would have regretted it. If your not interested in any other of the launch games, I wouldn't buy a PS4 just for Fifa.

The PS4 will show the friend playing a game, not the format, unless you go in to that friends profile and then it will show the format of the game being played.

Does the PS3 tell you when a friend has gone online and starts playing a PS4 game? Recently I've noticed like 5 people online instead of about 20 on my PS3....

I personally am loving FIFA on PS4. Playing Pro Clubs with GAFers is great fun and the experience is even better with DS4 and PS4's party chat/streaming. Love it.

Ah okay, because the glossy part got lots of scratches just in one weekend.

And now I noticed my PS4 is saying a very silent clicking sound while operating the OS menu, which is noticeable now that I noticed it.

Am I going crazy?

It greatly worries me. Anyone else having this?

There aren't any gameplay improvements? What about the ignite engine?

Gameplay feels a lot better coming from PC. Animations make the game smoother, Ignite physics make a nice difference and it looks a lot better than PC. AI is a lot better, especially defending. I'm glad I picked it up.

has sony commented on the thumbstick rubber issue? i got my ps4 on launch day in america and my left thumbstick has just started to "peel". i've been playing pretty heavily over the last 2+ weeks, so this isn't necessarily something that happens right away.

For those who are interested.

Yum.

Jelly. Gonna need to get that or blue at some point.

Just made my housemate shit. They were watching Netflix on the Wii U and I wanted to show someone a PS4 game at work, so fired up my Vita and the PS4 started whirring and switched the HDMI switcher to the PS4 output. Got a text that my PS4 might be haunted when it started moving the UI by itself!

Hmm, this might actually become a problem. I love the HDMI-CEC feature (never had it on my PS3 since it's a Phat), how the TV automatically turns on and switches to the correct input, how I can control the UI with my TV remote (please make this work in Netfix...), but I really don't think I'd want that to happen when remote playing. The TV doesn't seem to automatically turn off when the PS4 does, only on, so that means my TV would turn on and then stay on until I got home. Don't have a Vita yet, but once I do I might have to turn off the auto-on feature on my TV.

I have tried many times but this HDMI-CEC feature confuses me. =/

Apparently, CEC doesn't do anything according to the The Sixth Axis blog when you turn on the PS4 via remote play. I've got a cheap HDMI switcher as my TV only has one port and that will switch automatically to any device that just started giving it a signal rather than it being CEC related.

Still, there’s some brilliant thought to the overall design of the feature. It won’t turn on your TV alongside your PS4 if you’re using HDMI-CEC, and vice versa for turning off. It’s a really solid start for a technology which will clearly evolve over time. And while some may say that it kills the point in the Vita, it truly revives it, expanding the library to all of Sony’s future games (well, minus GT6) rather than just handheld exclusives.

Not in front of my PS4 so I can't be specific, but it needs to be enabled in the settings. Think it's "Link to the television via HDMI" or something. It's not on by default.

Tv brand ? Name for it change based on tv. bravia link for sony , anylink for samsung , etc...

Samsung, it's Anylink+ I think. I turned it on but any time I turn on my PS4 it doesn't turn on my tv. Both go through a receiver.

I did the "Connect via HDMI" on the PS4 in settings.
