PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

Oh man, expected delivery for my PS4 Pro is tomorrow. O_O

To initiate the transfer, I should just be able to keep my current PS4 connected as is, and swap my Wii U HMDI and Ethernet Cable from it to the PS4 Pro, correct (both Ethernet Cables are connected to the same router)? If so, that simplifies things, as I don't need to pull out my receiver and/or trace a particular Ethernet Cable back to the modem. Afterwards, I'd of course switch out the PS4 with the PS4 Pro, and re-connect my Wii U with its original components.

Or maybe I'll just swap out my PS4 with the PS4 Pro right away, and use the current Wii U HDMI/Ethernet Cables with the PS4. Either works, I guess.
 
Should i make sure this firecuda drive is formatted to FAT32 before my pro gets here? or does it not matter and the pro will handle it?
 
I'm ready. picking up from store.

I'm going to be a two PS4 household. However, my OG ps4 is not ready. I can't activate it as primary because it seems I have another PS4 activated as primary. This is not the case, I've only ever had one PS4. I hope I can get this fixed in time but I'm not seeing much hope after a bit of research.

Try updating your TV's firmware.

You can deactivate it online.

Go to http://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/

Log in.

Then select [Deactivate All] under [Account] > [Media and Devices] for the type of content for which you want to deactivate all activated systems.

I think you can only do this once every 6 months.

When I upgraded my PS4 HDD, I did not format the drive prior to doing it, and it was fine.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. The guy I sold it to said it was for his twin sons so that made me happy.

So if I'm switching to PS4 Pro and just sold my PS4, I should de-activate it online? I also have a PS3 and it says it would de-activate that too. Will that mess up my PS3?

Ordered mine for £299 at Tesco a few weeks ago.

The order status is "Ready to dispatch".

I hope it's dispatched today!
 
As much as I'm looking forward to the PRO. Reinstalling everything is going to be a bitch... I also need to start backing up some of my save files and screenshots.
 
My Amazon UK order has changed to preparing for despatch and they have charged my card,I have prime so come on Amazon despatch today and deliver tomorrow👏👏👏

Seems like I got excited too soon, it was just the standard "we are preparing your shipment" message you get on all preorders. 👎🏿
It does say that it will ship today though.

Just back up everything to an external hard drive. I would think most of us would have one. I'm transferring all 860GB to my new console. Won't have to download or install a thing besides the operating system.
 
So what's the process for slapping a hard drive in?


I upgraded my Destiny PS4 to a 2TB when I got it, I just plan on swapping in the 2TB from my Destiny PS4 into my Pro, and the Pro HDD into my Destiny PS4 and redownloading everything.




Can I just format it on my Destiny PS4 and put it in?

Yup. I'm not even trying to reinstall everything all at once but I already know some patch/update sizes are going to slow things down quite a bit, especially since one of the first things I'm looking forward to is a multitude of PSVR titles that got Pro updates.

Connect a USB HDD to the PS4 -> Settings -> System -> Backup. Select Screenshots and Save games. I just did that and it took like 5mins for ~6GB of data.

You can also mass copy your save games to a USB device.

I choose Prime delivery and mine says shipping tomorrow, too... :(

Edit: @ those who ordered from Amazon.de whose orders have already been shipped, did you choose standard instead of Prime delivery? Both typically take a day to reach you but standard sometimes takes two days so it would have been smarter to choose standard to at least have a chance of getting it early. It's ridiculous that paying for Prime is a disadvantage in this case. Next time I'll buy from retail.

Hmm standard delivery always takes at least 2 days (1 more day than prime) to deliver. If they would dispatch it today I wouldn't have it until thursday as well.
