PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

I saw that someone posted the PS4 Pro under a TV and working. Does that mean there are some who got it in advance just like the PS4 Slim? If this is the case, can he play it normally from now especially if there are already games which were patched to support it?

The picture in this thread? I think it's from a event

I really can't attest to any usage specifics as it's a test kit, so the under the hood behavior may be subtly different and therefore such impressions may be anecdotally unreliable. :)

The only thing I can attest to, as stated: it looks quite sharp in person. I'm a fan.
Oh, and the buttons have a satisfying click to them :p. That much I can say I suppose.
Yeeeess thank you!

It's not a wild pro, the picture has been taken at an event.

I thought the buttons were capacitive. Whew, that's a relief.

I'll agree here. Test kits: your impressions would be identical to retail, btw.

The Pro devkits, however, don't look as nice as my OG PS4 devkits. Bah! Still plan on keeping my old one on display because it looks badass. I wish all PS4s looked like that, tbh.

Because of the Pro, I can't in good conscience get the PSVR. Feel the Pro is a better value. And I'm worried about overload where the VR system sits around in clutter while I just continue playing my normal games in improved quality on a 4K tv.

Plus my wife gets a PS4 out of this!

Can you imagine these games on pro? Just a 500mb ram increase and some games are getting Ultra textures.

If a little plain, I do find it looks better in person.

Yup, looks real good.

No matter how radical it is, it still won't do anything but render Xbox One games in 4k/1080p with some bells and whistles. Same with the Pro.
Let it be known that I am totally on board with that though. :)

Agreed.

And I agree that's not a bad thing with either of them. :)

Yup, saw them last month, you still won't get the 4k and HDR from these, but Horizon looks awesome anyway.

Yeah, I can't wait to see these directly on my TV when the games come out/get their update.

And I find the back a lot tidier!

Hopefully it doesn't sound like it's going to take off......my PS4 is fucking loud at this stage being a launch model lol. I'm to lazy to open it and put new thermal compound on it. I just want the pro..... Transfer data..... Trade in OG ps4

Hype! Even though i won't have my 4k til Dec. Can't wait to see the 1080p improvements at least.

Any word if we can just swap HDDs? I honestly don't want to go through the pain of downloading everything.

less than 2 weeks before this console gets on sale, still waiting for some actual proper gameplay footage/comparisons with original PS4...

So basically a PS4 Slim? It'd look like that.

3rd layer helps to differentiate it from standard/slim PS4 models.

The 3rd layer makes the Pro look like an ugly photoshop. You'd be forgiven for thinking (because of its bulky design) that the Pro is a first generation PS4 (in the sense that it looks like something released at the beginning of a console gen) and not the ultimate version of Sony's flagship console.Everytime I see it I can't help but feel that it needs a future redesign to trim the fat. The iconic lightbar is enough to differentiate the Pro imo.

i'm just inclined to take the plunge, minimum required 1920x1080 framebuffer, with many opting for scaling between that and 1600-1800p is enough to sell me on IQ. Also napkin math tells me that in 60fps CPU-limited games where the framerate dropped to 45, the CPU over clock will mitigate it in the pro.

Well, Death Stranding will probably be a next-gen game (and the trailer was probably run on some beast PC). God of War was probably being demoed on a PS4 Pro to begin with, so I don't think we'll get an improvement from what was shown at e3.
