PS5 Pro Specs Leak are Real, Releasing Holiday 2024(Insider Gaming)

Weird, he mentions here that he didn't experience shader compilation stutters.

Maybe they discovered them later.

Point being it’s always been an engine issue that impacted PC only and not consoles. It sounds like it might be resolved in current/future UE5 versions though judging by this comment.

This problem was mitigated on later versions of UE5, but the problem with Black Myth: Wukong may be down to its use of the older Unreal Engine 5.0.

It being an engine issue is why it wasn’t resolvable through newer PC hardware (going back to my original comment on the matter) and not something the PS5 nor the PS5 Pro would be impacted by.

Yeah, I know about shader compilation issues on PC and mentioned as much. The problem is, UE5 also has traversal stutters which affects every platform to varying degrees. This should be much easier to fix.

It is a tricky topic since it has to do with CPU overhead in an open architecture (such as PC) with rapid sequential datatransfer between storage and VRAM (and hence why consoles have much less problems here). There must be more that can be optimized on the engine side of things but it is really an inherant weakness of the PC platform without a clear magic wand (taking away the CPU overhead would open up a can of worms security wise since it would allow peripherals to transfer files without the CPU knowing about it).

Been waiting for this pro version for what feels like forever... Hoping to actually secure a preorder once they go live after being announced... Waiting is the worst.

It could possibly be priced at $600, though.
So it might not be worth it to you.

I have a bad feeling this will never come out.

Lets put it this way.

Ps4 pro was announced way before september , i want to say may with ff15 and then around august or september with first party games like days gone. And days gone was not released at that point yet .

Right now i dont even know what sony first party game is coming next so ita not like they have anything to show off the machine with.

So i am very sceptical this time around.

So its either coming this year and soon or never.

We are too far into this gen for it to have a major impact not to mention xbox already pulled out of a pro version and is focusing to start fresh with their next gen that will come best case a year after the ps5 pro.

In short , i think its cancelled

As i said. Revealed to the public in september with games like days gone , horizon forbiden west, etc which were first party games yet to come and were designed for ps4 pro in mind.
But before that there was already some legit talk and admition of its existence from sony itself. Part of the 4k tv push.
I dont see that happening this time and makes the console not worthy to buy at release.

So i think maybe its pushed to next year when some new first party debuts with ps5 pro to showcase what it can do.

You gotta make a choice, son.

He's right it was actually acknowledged at around E3 that year by I think Andrew House but the PS4 pro leak was way more forthcoming they were pretty much forced to respond when questioned about it. I'm just not sure if any journalists have had a chance to ask about PS5 pro this time around because Sony hasn't been to any events but it's obviously coming this year there's just too much smoke.

I still remember when the original leaks about the PS4 Pro came out. I was glued to this thread.

Needless to say, I was more excited about that Pro than I am for the one due this Fall. Gaming was still in a pretty good place in 2016.

I'm starting to get kind of excited to see if this will move back to console from PC or not. I crave the cost effectiveness and convenience as well as some operational characteristics in my systems of a console, but quality has held me to PC for some time now.

Andrew House talked about it then because he didn't want people to be upset that it wasn't at E3, they (Sony) don't attend E3 anymore (nobody does, it's dead lol) and they really don't talk to the gaming press like they used to.

I really hope it comes out this year and preferably as soon as possible.

My PC has been struggling with newer games and I don't want to spend 1500 euros on a new mid tier rig.

PC for work. Console for fun, games.

Honestly, I feel like I'm not the only one who wants to make the jump from PC gaming to PS5 Pro. With these high GPU prices.

I just hope Sony prioritizes framerate over resolution. For me, 60 fps > 4K res

Latest MLID vid says he has seen the dev kit. Must be getting close now.
A lot of people have seen the dev kits, they've been with developers for probably more than a year now.

That being said, I'm curious to see what node the Pro chip will be fabricated on, rumour is that the Pro developer kit is the same size as the regular console which likely means very similar thermals as well. I suspect the Pro like the regular PS5 will run whisper quiet as well, a nice upgrade from the jet engine that was the PS4 Pro.

This is getting too long…fuck it I’m putting the money in a new GPU when they launch going to be weird being PC, Nintendo only.

If I recall correctly, OverHeat has a 4090 already, no? The pro won't do anything the 4090 doesn't aside from first party exclusives and GTA for a short while. By the same token, the 5090 won't be able to play any first party exclusives, or, again, GTA when it launches. Top tier PC hardware isn't a substitute for a powerful console, because not everything releases for both.

ffs mate - have some patience - Sony have been so blatantly discrete in their public communications in recent years, considering that then we cannot expect them to repeat the same marketing strategies and timelines as they did eight years ago.

It's coming.

I agree they have been incognito for the most part .

But here is the problem.
We just learned there wont be any showcase for a while, instead just another state if play which is phatetic.

I dont see them using the tokyo game show for a reveal so what does that leave us with?

Only time will tell.

Makes me think that this might be the PS5 Pro dev kit because it's covered :messenger_beaming:

If my brain's internal image upscaling is working correctly I would also say that is a Lego logo on that big Death stranding stylized box behind the desk, which could mean Death Stranding 2 lego kits.

So it doesn't look identical to the current PS5 dev kit then! Even if it is just a different colour.
The picture I saw of the two if they were both shown to me again I couldn't pick them out

If I wouldn't have trusted the guy who sent them to me I wouldn't have believed it was a Pro DK

Now Hideos may be different though I see people saying that devs arent even allowed to openly show the OG PS5 DKs which I don't know is true or not

Well if the answer is they have a no pictures of the dev kit rule then 1, how childish and 2, Sony went out of their way to make an elaborate design for a dev kit! and now don't want the public to see it? Makes perfect sense!

Pretty sure that is a Lego UCS box. Note the logo opposite which looks like Star Wars. I believe the Razor Crest:

Navi 48 3 configurations confirmed

The second one is basically the PS5 Pro configuration (RX 8800 XT?) with 256 bit bus and 18 GT/s memory

It would translate to this:

1) 8800 XTX (Navi 48)
2) 8800 XT (Navi 48)
3) 8700 XT (Navi 48)
4) 8600 (Navi 44)

Talking of the PS5 Pro dev kit I came across this South Korea NRRA certificate for the DFI-T2000AA test kit. The PS5 dev kits/test kits were designated 1000AA. I don't believe Sony issued new dev kits for the "slim"?

Note the date: November 2023.

So the shader units will be doing either shader calculations, or ML calculations.
Those estimated TOPS, are for all the shaders being used at the same time.
What will probably happen, is that some shaders will be doing ML upscaling, while other will be rendering the each frame.
Those can't be done asynchronously? There is hardware for it right?
