PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Yeah but from what I understand you have to.go through a fairly lengthy process to.load isps every time you turn it on. That's not good imho.

Actually it seems pretty easy. You can load a game in what looks like under a minute (and that's provided you can't use the sleep or save state function on the Go, which i'm guessing you can).

Yes I do I will re-upload it to mediafire.

Edit:

After going a little research I noticed there are different version of this fix.

5.03 Gen-C Savegame fix
- fixes that savegames are corupt or damaged
- Only for psp3000
- MADE BY LUCA00555

5.03 Gen-C Savegame fix
- fixes that savegames are corupt or damaged
- Only for psp2000
- MADE BY LUCA00555

5.50 Gen-D3 Savegame fix
- fixes that savegames are corupt or damaged
- Only for psp1000/2000
- MADE BY LUCA00555

Can't say for sure which one I have but I used this last on my 5.50 GEN-D PSP model 1001. So it may not work for PSP version 3000 or higher. Also just an FYI make sure you back up your saved games before use since I have no idea if this works with Prometheus.

Edit #2:

How does this Prometheus work? I'm on 5.50 GEN-D, do I just run the v4 download posted earlier or do I need to prep something first?

Edit #3:

N/M I got it. :D
Fuck, I did this "fix" and now all of my saves are corrupted. urgh! I should have backed them up too, but I thought it wouldn't do anything too bad. I feel retarded now.

Anyway, anyone know why it didn't work. I did it on 5.50 GEN-D Prometheus v4.

Your saves appear corrupted, but they're still the same. The patch only changes the savegame decryption module on the PSP unit, it doesn't touch your saves. Reinstall Prometheus v4 and everything should return to as is.

Quick question since I've been out of the CFW loop for a while: Have there been any updates that will allow me to play ClaDun? I've been dying to play that for a while.

I have also been out of the loop, so I apologise for my noobness. Haven't had a PSP since FW 1.50 times :lol

I recently borrowed my friend's PSP 1000 so I could play KH:BBS, but it's on 5.50 Prome-4, and it doesn't work. I then find out that the game needs 6.20 to run it.

Now, a few questions:

- Is there an easier way to update the CFW 5.50 Prome-4 to 6.20 TN-A? Actually, IS there a way to do that?
- I'm trying to update 5.50 Prome-4 with the PSP x000 OFW 6.20 Eboot, but it keeps saying "This game cannot be started". From my research, I changed the version.txt to 6.10 so it is updateable. What am I doing wrong?

Cheers guys, this is really frustrating me at the moment :p

It's weird that it didn't work. that's the firmware i'm running and it works great. try reripping the ISO from the UMD.

EDIT: Since the 6.20 HEN came out with the ISO loader, I've thought about getting a Go and giving my 2000 to my GF. Anyone see anything wrong with this scenario? Is there a reason to keep the 2000 I've got?
Besides the fact that I'll have to do the Eboot every single time I turn the system on

Okay, I managed to get it to stock 5.50, AND EVEN THEN it's still not letting me run the OFW6.20 update. What the shit.

ediT: YAYY I got 6.20 TN-A (HEN) to work, but... hate to jump the boat, but it's a "tethered" hack? D: Means I gotta do the Patapon Hack all the time? D:

My pspsgo is charging and will be hacked when I get home later today. What goes into doing the eboot agagin each time you power up? Is it a pain in the ass? I've still got my psp 2000 too. Im also curiouus to know if the pspgo helps with the fmv slowdown issues on isps.

Looks like you just have to start up patapon everytime and load the exploited save file. a minor annoyance i guess. I don't know if you can put it into sleep mode and keep the HEN running, though. that'd be nice as hell.

Oh and i don't think the PS1 games work yet, either :(

supposedly putting it into save state mode (psp go) will keep the HEN running...looks like its finally time for me to get a psp go to replace my broken psp 1000...

if i order one today what are the chances are of getting one with 6.20?

Why would you upgrade a 5.50 CFW PSP to 6.20 hen.... It's so much worse.

Non-existant I think. The PSP GO I got a couple weeks ago had the free 3 games thing on it and it was 5.xx something. I don't know if it changed in a couple of weeks but the firmware the one I got from amazon still had really old firmware as its stock. Unless something changed, I haven't seen them flash that high yet.

So apparently my PSP Go came with 6.1 pre-installed and I need to upgrade it to 6.2. But, the firmware floating around (6.2) isn't for go. ARGH...anyone have or know where to find this firmware for the go?

I just did a quick bit of Googling and it appears that sometime in mid October, some dude named Kiss of Death managed to create a patch that would allow ClaDun to run on CFW.
I've not had much luck finding the actual patch yet, but the fact that I'm finding CWCheat codes for the US version indicates that is it playable. I'll research further tonight and probably wind up purchasing the game from PSN. Been wanting to play this for quite some time now.

There's no such thing as go exclusive firmware as far as I know.

Yes there is, he needs to download the GO only firmware.

And yes, as long as you don't turn off your PSP, you can resume it and no need to go through the patapon exploit.

Thanks for the help on direction to the 6.2 OF. I was able to get everything working perfectly on the PSP Go. To make things better, as I expected, there is ZERO FMV slowdown. I strongly recommend grabbing a Go if you've been on the fence. It's only a matter of time now before it has a CF developed.

I bought a used Go today to use with HEN. It was a waste of money. I'm going to have to take it back. It's got a vertical line of miscolored pixels on the left side of the screen. :/

What's the performance like on the SNES emulator? I'm still using M33 and performance is a bit flaky, worst part being you can't sleep/resume with it so you have to exit to XMB everytime you want to take a break.

You should always ask to use it before you buy it. If they give you a hard time, just threaten to buy it, open it, and then immediately return it if something is wrong.

I was unaware of go firmware, I didn't think Sony cared that much.

I usually do, but it was really busy and there were only two people running the cash registers. I tried to check it when I got to my vehicle, but the battery was completely dead. I'll just take it back in a couple days. Radioshack has Gos new for $149 this week. I'll take the ad to Wal-Mart and get them to match the price. I've got a $50 Wal-Mart gift card, so I'll be able to get a new one for $100.

I got my brand new Go at Radio Shack for $150, but that was a one-day sale. I can't imagine why you'd buy it used. I'll also come back at some point tomorrow and let everyone know how some of the emulators, most notably SNES, work on the Go.

$99 used is the reason I suppose.

For those that have that dualslot photofast adapter, does it work with Sony cameras as well? I've got a measly 4GB card for my PSP that I don't mind using with the camera, but if the photofast works too, I might as well grab them for both pieces of hardware.

Did you just buy one? I wonder if the ones from Radio Shack actually have a FW > 6.20 already otherwise I would pick one up as well.

The one I grabbed this past Sunday was running 6.10. I'd recommend looking at radio shack, as their stock is probably pretty damn old. Mine obviously was. :D

If homebrew is what you want, run HBL with the Sukkiri demo.

Just set it up a few hours ago... been playing SNES Gradius III and some GBA emu on my PSP 3006@6.36FW.

I just bought a Go today at a Wal-Mart and it has 6.20 on it. If you want to get a Go for HEN, you better go and buy it pretty soon.

Hey guys, need some help.

A friend of mine just dumped their PSP (1000) in my lap with official firmware 2.80 (lol) asking me to put custom firmware on it.

He's a bit of a noob so yeah.

My problem is I've never done an upgrade from such an old firmware, could you guys help identify the best upgrade path please >:

Just got a used PSP go. To run the TN-A Hen stuff can I use my main psp memory or do I need to find a memory stick for it? Everywhere I mention says memory stick and I dont think any local stores really carry a M2 card around here.

You can run it from the internal memory.

TN has apparently come up with a method to downgrade firmware that works on every PSP model.

Hatsune Miku is a go on my go, whoooooooooo

Oh, and Outrun 2(006). The process is a little less elegant than the super mature CFW but it runs!

I call this the Chris Rock hack. "Your PSP is supposed to play PSP games, you low expectation having motherfucker!"

Awesome. For some reason I upgraded my Go to 6.30, and haven't touched the firmware since. Not really sure why I updated it in the first place. Completely regret doing that.

Wait, you can get homebrew to work on a Go that's over 6.20? You're talking about HBL through the Patapon 2 glitch? I was unaware of this.

Says you can run homebrew up to 6.35. I think its just the iso loader thats locked to 6.20 atm. I could be wrong since I just started reading up on this stuff again.

Sukkari HBL is the same as Patapon 2, but works on all FW. Check out Corran's link. It's very straight forward to implement.
