Spanish forum so beware

First of all, this Ferdopa guy has connections with Sony Spain distribution chain, I don't know what does he exactly do, but he has given info on Playstation packs, dates and stuff, all Sony related. And he has never been wrong.

He talks about the different things that were discussed in a January meeting held for Sony people only in which at first a March release date was discussed and how things went down the toilet and Europe got screwed again (in terms of dates) due to the Northamerican launch.

He also goes into detail as why there was no news for Europe= Sony people were on holiday right up until February 7 and some other tidbits.

The juicy stuff:

All this information is official and is confirmed:

- PSP release window will be between April 21 and June 21 of 2005, not before nor after.

- There will be two packs for Europe: Value Pack and Normal Pack.

- The Normal Pack will be priced between 180-200 €, while the Value Packwill be between 220 and 250€ (nor more nor less).

- There will be a price gap of 50€ between both packs: if the Normal Pack is priced at 190€, the Value Pack will be 240€.

I know I'm not a Junior member, but that's just a matter of number of posts and I know I am don't have much (if any) reputation over here, but trust Ferdopa. He knows what he is talking about.

Well, guess I will have to go the import route. Japanese or American? That is the question.

I would be extremely surprised if we got the "normal" PSP pack. But I'd love not having to fork out extra for headphones and a tiny memory stick.

Thank you for the infos,I hope it's true.
A few retailers as Amazon say PSP is coming out on the 29th of April.

wow, the price of the normal pack there = the price of the Value pack here

These prices are really good if confirmed.
US dollar is too weak at the moment to make a valid comparison.
Also european prices are always vat included.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't matter in the end anyway.

If this is true, I hope SCEA releases a standalone pack once steady production/shipping flow gets rolling.

American games are cheaper than the stuff you get around here (Spain), add the current euro/dollar exchange rate and there you have it.

Oh, btw: this thing about the region encoding for the games should make a little bit of gaming rumours history, wether it is true or not. I'm having "lots of fun" every time I read about it¡

Import and get pwned when games come region encoded later down the line?

The prices sound about right to me. Hope it's true.

I plan on importing all my games from now on.

I mean the NZ dollar is so strong and the US so weak that it is much more economical for me to have a game shipped to me from the other side of the world than it is to pop down the road and pick it up.

Someone in between myself and the overseas distributer is making much more money than they used to be. It's completley batshit insane. New gamecube (firstparty) game here ? $120 NZ. Imported from Canada ? $80.

Do I give a shit about my local industry/economy ? Fuck no, they don't care about me...
