EDIT
Just off the phone to the manager of my local Belfast store, he confirmed it's on the system as £229.99 RRP...
:O

xfactor said:how about retaining the screen size? The key here is to make the screen as small as possible for portable yet big enough for the game to display whatever it needs.
VGChampion said:Really? You find that post and not what many others have said why people like smaller screens? It's more portable.

At the current exchange rate $249 is approx. £150 which is a much better price.

PSP is capable of rendering video that's natively higher res than the screen, so it may not be scaling the video, just when it's output to a higher res screen, it allows the video to play at its native res.A Twisty Fluken said:Interface scales, video playback scales....
The_Inquisitor said:So are they going to release some old UMD games into DD versions via PSN? I want to get a PSP GO, but there are a few titles I want to get that I have missed over the past year or so.
El-Suave said:That's the plan. Many major releases should pop up on PSN in time for the Go launch.
I'm sad I missed a temporary price reduction they had on the 3000 model a few weeks ago. 30 Euros off - now it's 170 again. Won't get the Go - apart from me not liking DD, the buttons seem too small for my taste. I have small hands, so it shouldn't be a problem, but it's still scary to see how tiny it is when you actually see a man's hand on the controls.
The_Inquisitor said:My fear is they will pop up for 39.99. Sigh.....
The catalog releases probably won't be that high, but the day and date releases of new UMD titles on PSN as well look like they will have the same price.The_Inquisitor said:My fear is they will pop up for 39.99. Sigh.....
Oni Jazar said:There are a lot of PSP original titles out on PSN now that are very well priced. Usually around $20.
It's not a mainstream price but people have different priorities. To me 200 would have been perfect but one of my friends thinks 250 is really cheap, and he hardly uses his Psp. Ipod touch's price is currently higher and doent offer a great game library like Psp does; so even compared to Ipod touch, Go has better value to me personally. The portability and better useability of Go compared to Psp1000 are worth it to me for an upgrade.fanduck said:I don't like how so many people are trying to justify the insane price tag with "Well, iPod touch is $230." This just seems like a terrible rationalization to me. Partly because this won't live up to what the iPod touch is, and partly because most people will be comparing this to the PSP that's currently on the market which, imo, is already more expensive than it should be.
A Twisty Fluken said:I don't care how they do it, I honestly expect a device designed to play games and output to a television actually be useful for playing games on a television.

Onix said:First, it's designed to be a portable ... outputting video is a nice plus they added recently. You make it sound like that feature is on par with it being used as a portable. I don't think so.
Second, you're actually going to argue that is useless on a TV because of the borders?
Third, would you be willing to pay a bit extra for such a feature?
fanduck said:Since this thread is still hoppin, I'll post a thought.

A Twisty Fluken said:1. A feature, not a nice plus. If the feature is not useful, it's worthless to me.
2. On my TV it is, there's no way I'd play a game with that size screen from that distance.
3. Obviously, that's what I thought I was doing when I was buying the overpriced TV out cable in the first place.
I would have liked to have seen them price it more aggressively ($200) but a lot of the arguments in here are running dangerously close to claiming the price isn't even competitive with similar devices. "The Sony Tax" etc., like there are numerous devices with equivalent function and capability for significantly less. That's not really an accurate portrayal.fanduck said:Since this thread is still hoppin, I'll post a thought.

You guys can bitch and moan all you want, but this is bullshit, as evidenced by all of the people who are saying "day one." If you think people on GAF are the only people who will buy this, you're out of your mind.krae_man said:Silly Sony, you cant get away with ipod hard drive pricing when you support flash cards.
By the time this releases 16gb memory sticks will be $50.
The last two PSP redesigns didn't warrent an increase in price. You have ZERO change of convincing people that this redesign warrents a $80 increse in price with Memory sticks that cheap.

Sure there will be some, but I think Sony is crazy to think they can switch to Apple pricing and be sucessfull. Only time will tell.
Onix said:Because it isn't full screen, it's worthless? You are allowed to have that opinion, but I will say that most do not share it. Is it perfect? No. But it is certainly not worthless just because of a border.
You could always move your seat closer. Also, does your TV have a zoom option? Either way, I'm simply stating that using terms like worthless seems silly (I admit, I'm mincing). It sounds like you're stating this as some commonly agreed upon truth, which I'm simply pointing out is not the general consensus.
You thought you were buying a cable that has HW scaling in it to make games go full screen?
spwolf said:ehm, they didnt switch to Apple pricing, they went cheaper. :lol
Old Sony would do OLED touchscreen, 32 GB for $400.

Looks like a traditional USB plug is out(really disappointing). Probably still get one though, my PSP-1000 is looking old and the lack of 64mb RAM (for future apps) and TV-Out gets to me at times
