PSP Remaster Series Announced for PlayStation 3

Dear Sony,

Release Resistance: Retribution as a PSP remaster for PS3.

With online MP and perhaps give the graphics a slight 'spit and polish'.

I have moneys.

Yours Busty.

Ya'll can already play Resistance with a DS3 (if you own a PS3 with Resistance 2, and a PSP with Retribution) so I don't really see the need.

True dat. But I'd sooner have it on my big TV.

No trophies is pretty lame and drops my interest level a lot.

I've greatly enjoyed playing on my PSP partially because there is no ridiculous point-giving system and I can just enjoy playing the games.

I'm not saying Trophies are a bad thing but you must take that first step to free yourself.

This is like saying all PS2 HD ports are useless, I know you are super pro-handheld and everything, but I think the main points of PS2 HD port and PSP remasters is that you have games that run on better framerate and on native HD res ( so it look better on HDTV).

No Trophies for PSP Remasters
SCEA confirms Trophies will not be supported.

The PSP Remaster series, titles being upgraded and playable on PlayStation 3, will not support Trophies, SCEA has confirmed to IGN.

Sony first made the announcement last Saturday, unveiling an enhanced version of Monster Hunter Portable 3 for PlayStation 3, but details about possible Trophy support were unclear at that time.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is reportedly being released as a PSP Remaster title, but Konami has yet to make an official announcement.

That worries me, if games aren't getting that much of a reworking maybe the controls won't get reworked, in which case I don't care about this anymore.

yeah, but for that to work you need:
-PS3 with Resistance 2 running on it
-PSP with Resistance retribution on it
-PS3 Dual Shock
-PSP Component Cables, if you want to see the game on your TV (but on a small box)

The other alternative would be through a PSPGo, but the Dual Shock 3 can't be used fully (no dual analog, no L2/R2) and still need the component cables.

:p

If they are not adding trophies I guess your fears might be founded. It seems they are not reworking the games' code themselves much.

Not buying a game you want just because it don't have useless Trophies or achievements is just beyond me.
But that's why I don't understand why they don't include them. People are going to cheat the system with a hacked PSP? Who cares? Trophies aren't worth anything anyway.

I have fun collecting them. I just see them as part of the game; just like how you'd try to master certain aspects of older games. Sure you don't really get anything more than raising your gamer score or trophy collection, but they still help give some replayability and just more things to do in general.

Peace Walker, for example has tons of side-missions and things, and having trophies would probably push some players toward actually doing them all and getting good rankings.

That's what I think, this could be a development side HLE, slap in some uncompressed textures, don't change any code so it's literally just HD. I'd still buy Type-0 on it, but that'd be disappointing to me.

If it had online functionality, I'd play Dissidia on the PS3

I wish Project Cafe don't have them.

1) I never said I wasn't going to buy the game and 2) trophies aren't useless. If it wasn't for trophies I wouldn't have hunted all of the treasures in Uncharted, Done all the trials in Street Fighter 4, or looked for all of the shards in inFamous. You may not like them, but you're opinion is irrelevant to the millions of gamers who actually find them fun.

Well the way Peace Walker does it is by rewarding players with extra weapons, items and code names (basically titles).

I think this simply shows that they are not reworking the games' code much and not putting much effort into it. We have yet to hear about pricing and NGP compatibility but I would guess that these games are going to be budget priced. If that's the case I guess I understand why they are not wasting time with it. AAA games like MH3 will probably have more "bonus content" and "upgrades" in them because there's potential to get sales. It's no coincidence that it was the first one revealed.

I really like trophies, lately I've become a trophy whore. Though if they release BBS on this, I will buy it. That and Crisis Core is the only ones I'd buy though.

wait whaaaat i've completely missed this news

does this mean.. i can finally play a Monster Hunter game? on my PAL ps3? online with other PS3 players?

please..?

PW doesn't seem likely. Would all those terrible cartoon cutscenes been made at that resolution?

I liked the cartoon myself.

They probably weren't drawn at such a low resolution in the first place. The originals are probably drawn at a higher resolution than that of the PSP screen. Hell, some of them can be scrolled on the PSP screen.

Just wait. Sony probably won't let companies release Remaster titles outside of Japan.
That makes no sense, the PSP is viable there, and no where else, it's the worst place to sell these exclusively. And SCEA wouldn't be commenting on the trophies if they weren't going to America.

Yeah it's a good point, and Koji-Pro knew there was demand for a PS3 version, they probably wanted the work at 2k just in case.

that is good news if true. the easier it is to make it into PSP remastered series, the more PSP titles potentially make it into this series. if it's a complete port with new code etc, I doubt game like VC2 will even make it.

I'd buy a PS3 just to play games like Peace Walker and Monster Hunter online because I don't know anyone IRL to play with.

you don't even need PSP remastered series if you only want to play those games online. ad-hoc party is already available for PS3 now.

I liked the art style of the animated cutscenes. To each their own though eh?

I'm sure the process of replacing the images isn't that crazy in any case. I'd imagine they have high res originals.

Edit: Oh snap I'm a member!

I'm so relieved that there are no trophies. My OCD can rest easy once more. I can understand being miffed that they aren't being added, but I don't see why anyone's decision to buy the game would be solely contingent on their addition.

So what's the point of psp now? Seriously, as if Sony hadn't confused consumers enough with this shit.

Apparently it (and the NGP) will exist only to subsidize games for PS3 and iPhone owners.

$40-60 on the PSP/NGP, $20 (per game, I'm sure collections of 2-3 games will be at $40 or so) on the PS3, and under $10 on the iPhone.

Call it a handheld with buttons tax. Everyone wins, except those that actually play games on the PSP/NGP...

No trophies is fine by me, although I don't know if I'll double dip on Peace Walker. Have they commented on if your save games will be cross platform compatible?

That is like one of the first things they mentioned.

You do know a lot of stuff like that is done in high res originally... right?

As needs be, yes. But the specifics of that example I really don't know about. It's seemingly a lot more work to do it in HD if they were never going to use it for that, I don't know though.
