PSP Remaster Series Announced for PlayStation 3

If VC3 still has the tiny, cut up maps that VC2 did, then I probably won't get too excited. I'd still buy it though.

They are, at least in the early footage.

Anyways, it's probably fake. Sega aren't ones to jump on a good opportunity in a heartbeat (still waiting for a VF5 console update). I still can't find the art, but it looks a little different from the others. Could just be some really good fanart.

Considering GT PSP is 480x272 I wouldn't be so sure about that.

The smoke in the PSP version is a joke

The smoke is awesome in GT5, just let down by the resolution it's rendered at, which amazingly seems to be 256x144. Anyway not wanting to start an argument about it :)

I'm just excited about the possibility of playing PSP games (VC3 and TO:LUCT in particular) on the big screen with 1:1 (well, 1:2 or 1:3) pixel rendering, and at the correct aspect ratio.

For some reason, I can't get my PSP to output to the TV correctly using the basic PSP-to-TV cables. Even if the upscaling factor weren't an integer, and it didn't upscale all the way to the edge of the screen (it doesn't), it would still look semi-decent if the aspect ratio were correct. But -- and I have no idea how this could go wrong -- it isn't.

So a PSP remaster or even a plain old port would presumably have proper visuals. Improved visuals would just be a bonus.

Sounds like you have an issue with your TV settings or PSP settings, I have a PSP component cable and had no issues with the aspect ratio. You sure both are set to 16:9?

So many PSP games I missed out on. This is definitely great.

Possibly a stupid question, but developers won't add in support for 2 sticks, will they?

Yes, they will. At least they are in Monster Hunter.

I bought a PSP for Peace Walker. If it's announced for PS3. I will buy Peace Walker for five gaf members. I bet it will be at E3 and people will be pissed.

Monster Hunters HD sounds good too.

Could Peace Walker be Kojima's NGP/PS3 project? It could fit his whole idea and it wouldn't require an entire development team to create and would get plenty of attention. PSP version enhanced for PS3 but wireless play to NGP etc.

A new game would be great but this wouldn't be a bad announcement either.

I'm in!

So many PSP games could benefit from this.
I hope Square are not as slow about this as they have been about getting their games available digitally.

Dude, I've been saying this since Kojima made his whole cloud comment after last e3.

Such a nice person.

As long as more people get to play these great games, I'm fine with this whole thing, though I still would have preferred a UMD player for the system.

If he is doing Peace Walker for NGP/PS3 then it will probably have all of the stuff they cut out of Peace Walker (apparently 50% of the characters) and the gameplay areas will be expanded... which would make it an entirely different game and not a PSP Remaster.

Something like Being able to play a game at home and on the go. It was awhile ago.

He's been talking about it since TGS 2009 at least, it sounds like it was originally considered as a feature of Peace Walker, and it'll be a focus of something for the NGP revealled at E3.

Source, please?

If this is confirmed, now we have 3 main questions about PSP remaster series:
-If you buy the PS3 version, does it include the PSP version or code? In this case it would justify a full price for the BluRay

-Price? I bet it will be the same than PS2 HD games or Platinum games, or even higher to avoid cheaper prices in PS3 than in PSP if it doesn't include the PSP version in the disc.

-Are JP only games use this opportunity to reach the west to be localized? Maybe now some games which failed in PSP can work decently in PS3 worldwide, if as it looks the port is very cheap.

They are mandatory, but maybe they mae an exception for the PSP Remaster Series:

-They can be easily hacked through PSP savedata
-To avoid extra work/costs for the developers who are porting it as low as possible, keeping their mandatory work only as to be emulated properly in HD (3D, 2nd analog, on-line are optional), giving them an opportunity to try to get some extra money in PS3 for a PSP for a very low cost

They can justify to not include trophies saying this is a separated label not considered as PS3 games (as happens with Minis or PSOne games, that also can be playable in PSP).
This is what I read on no trophies:
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/05/23/psp-remaster-series-wont-include-ps3-trophy-support/

Not having trophies support seems to be a unique case of Monster Hunter, which uses a transfer of saves / connection between the PSP and PS3.

From what I saw, the God of War Collection Portable HD ( apparently a "PSP Remaster Series " ) will have the trophy system. It should be around: No connectivity between PSP and PS3 = trophy system enabled.

...Really?
Deal with it.

Interest in buying any HD ports that aren't MHF3 and Type-0 is now gone.

I'll just play the other games on my PSP, like I always have.

Any news for PSN online support instead of Ad Hoc? Wouldn't cheaters be a huge issues due to large number of hacked psp transfering saves to the PS3?

They should make the US version of MH3PHD exclusively for PSN with characters progress saved on the server since the game haven't been release for PSP here yet.

Oh no, people will just have to play the games because they're enjoyable experiences.

I haven't had any cheater-rific experiences using AHP in Dissidia, but that's the only game I've played where cheating would have an impact.

looks sketchy, but I remain hopeful

The true Metal Gear Solid 5 has arrived if so

Hopefully Kojima has HD versions of those Ashley Woods cutscenes stored somewhere. I'd kill for that stuff at 1080p.

oh my god yes, one of the best parts of the game was watching/playing those cutscenes. I'd rebuy for sure if that was the case.

by now, would a new IP from Kojima will be considered as megaton?
For me it would.
