This thread though. It's a shame people can't see past some of the drawbacks for what is overall a decent product, hopefully with a decent future. I've watched quite a few reviews and none highlight any deal breaker issues for me.

You do realise the video you're seeing of the experience is that which is visible on the 2nd screen - the right eye view "undistorted" for a flat panel viewing for those in the room with you.

Read the reviews - it's not representative of the in-headset experience. Reprojected images apparently look particularly poor, offering all kinds of weird artifacting and blur that you simply do not see inside.

Just a heads-up: The quality of the Social Screen (image on TV, what the majority of footage available is right now) is lower-res and in general worse/blurrier looking than what you actually see in the headset. Several reviewers mentioned this.

your tone of 300 posts you made where you respond to anyone trying to be positive, with quoting negative criticism from very few reviews, makes you say that product is shit.

If positive reviews mention tracking is not perfect, but product overall is awesome, it means tracking did not spoil their enjoyment of the product.

You are seeing red, and are thinking nobody liked the product - or at least thats how your 300 posts in this thread come off as. In reality, 29 reviews were positive, 3 were mixed.

The in-headset experience is even worse looking that what's on the screen for any VR HMD because you see it much closer and the resolution doesn't help it.

I'm wrong.

if review units are anything to go by, there isn't a big percentage. seems only one or 2 had HMD tracking issues. move controllers are a different thing entirely and a lot seem to have struggled with those, but as you say it's not something you will be using anyway and i think sony will release something more suited for VR in the future.

there obviously will be faulty units though. i don't know a single electrical product that doesn't. you just gotta hope you don't get one but if you do just replace it.

actually, not... PSVR shows small picture blown up on big tv... it looks better on headset - thats what giantbomb guys kept repeating through their review.
 
i'm happy enough with what i have seen so far and will keep my preorder.
i wouldn't mind if Sony released a better control system than the Move stuff later, they have always been a little fussy to use.

Note: It is very important to know that the resolution of what the PS VR renders on the TV (so basically what we can capture) is lower than what the person using the headset can see. Don't believe that it looks as poor as that when you experience the whole thing. Obviously, don't expect HTC Vive/Occulus Rift quality either, PS4 and PS VR are much cheaper.

I stand corrected, so the social screen is rendered at a lower resolution, then yeah, in HMD should be better.

Solid meltdown, but I can understand you. I tried the headset for around 2 hours in different room and lighting conditions, and I also never experienced any technical issues when it comes to tracking.
This whole topic is just so strange.

The output to the TV is cropped and distorted. Eurogamer goes into this a bit if you're curious.

It's a much lower fedility image than the headset is using.

A novel experience doesn't necessarily constitute an enjoyable one. The fact that the "old" experience has been proven enjoyable means a less riskier investment. This was never a case of one or the other for me either, I'm just not prepared to pay the cost of a console for what I've heard having not tried the system myself yet.

Exactly - my Post was rude - but for a Reason! In my Job i cant fuck up shit! Every mistake would be Expansive for my Company. If the Reviewers are to stupid the set it up correctly or to understand Line of sight Issues with Move Controller, i will Point it out. they step into the public with their Reviews! And that comes with the Obligation to minimize own Mistakes.

Nothing new. This was reported a while back.

And it makes sense. User is watching a virtual screen with a 1080p headset.
 
I was under the impression this was $400 with everything included in the box, but apparently it's 500? At that price I'd rather just wait for the PC competitors to mature.

Oh that's such bullshit, I read the reviews as I'm entitled to do, I don't give a shit what gaffers think about it, I'm listening to the experts on the product. Again you're pointing out 29 "positive" reviews in which many mention drifting exists. you may be cool with the tracking issues and the drifting, but if those are present I'm not cool with that, and I suspect many others won't be with it either. We'll see how it all pans out though wont we.

edit- on top of that like I said if you had been following along you'd understand I'm discussing the fidelity of the tracking, not the overall experience. It could work perfect 9 times out of 10 and I'd be pissed that I got disoriented and nauseous on the tenth time due to crappy move technology, which is well known to have calibration issues.

so many people including yourself were trying to pass off the GB stream as the only outlet that had any issues with tracking which is FALSE. The purpose of pointing out that those positive reviews also have mention of tracking issues is to show that your argument is flawed.

I never experienced any problems with the Move that couldn't be solved by closing the curtains, so I wouldn't worry too much.

But moving away from tracking, it's great to see how positive the reviews are. I really believe that between the accessibility of PSVR and the technical prowess of the Vive can push VR to reach its potential. I completely understand anyone who has decided to wait, but I'm very happy to support VR in its infancy.

Yeah if you fucking hide the Move globe with your deformed Body than yeah Camera will lose the Tracking. Especially if you shove it up your A**. Then for shure it will lose Tracking.

Well I bailed out, the tracking issues and poor implementation of the move controls convinced me not to take the gamble on this one. I'll just put that money towards the rift.

All The Batman reviews are great. Was already sold on it from my short demo but can't wait to play it now. First thing I'll play!

Huh? I don't say people should wait at all (i also don't like that, when people say that for smartphones since the next high end flagship is always 3 months away).

I just want VR to be succesful but it's clear that this is just the beginning (hopefully). And therefore i'm looking forward to what will be the next gen of VR (in regards to fidelity, inputs , games and price). Nothing more. Not a native english speaker so some things come out written differently than i think it and it's probably not clear what i want to say.

Don't know if i can afford a VR unit (be it PSVR or PC) but i like watching everything around it.
 
My God. The Metacritic score must be mid 70s - 80 maximum. That's worse than the bomba Gears 4.

Both are doing great. Can't wait to pick up both.
 
23 positive reviews vs 3 mixed and 0 negative.

Really good standing for PSVR. But then again, VR is one of the things you should judge yourself. I'm very excited for it.
