Quantum Break PC has no "Quit" option on Menu. Gotta Alt-F4.

Do wonder why they are launching the game just some vague "sometime" on the 5th if they've given it out to press and streamers already. Hitting the button at midnight hopefully.

People talking about quitting the Windows app is a common knowledge thing. I never even knew about that and I'm sure millions of people who use Windows 10 don't know about it either.

People are just being smug about it to make themselves feel special or something. It's pretty gross.

I honestly thought it was common knowledge. There should be a "quit" in the menu though.

This gif may be overused but it was my legit reaction when I read the title.

Jesus I'm better off buying an Xbox One if I want to play these games.

Pretty sure all of the reviews were from the Xbox version.

lol

Not the PC version.

EDIT: Am I the only one having issues with twitter? Nothing is loading for me.

Those reviews don't focus on the great extra features enabled by the Universal Windows Platform!!

not a single review for the PC version, only XB1

Well that seems silly. You'd think review copies of both versions would be provided, unless Microsoft just thought it'd be a great idea to not give reviewer Win10 store codes? Because that is not, in fact, a great idea.

See, I was trying to be funny, but instead I ended up--.

...Never mind.

Since WINDOWS 95 (or maybe earlier I don't know, I started with 95) you click that X button on the top right corner of your window to quit an application.

I'm having that exact same reaction when I read people in this thread defending not having a quit option LOL.

Like, what the shit?!?

A PC game without a quit. Wow. Add that on top of all the other UWP bullshit and it's just ridiculous.

lol, but iin Win 10 that bar is obscured until you move your mouse cursor up there when the app is fullscreen. I guess I knew this because I use a surface pro 2 and (I think) it was this way back in 8.1 too for fullscreen apps. I think it is reasonable to think that some people won't know this, I guess.

And.....bikeman doesn't read comments while playing lol.

Whatever

I genuinely dont get why this bothers you so much, as in, your defense to it

at first it was that he didnt know about the red X, which still completely misses the point of what we're talking in the thread

I dont see why he'd lie, we'll just wait for whoever else launches the game to that main menu, unless it's patched by the time of commercial release

it's a really stupid oversight, and that's all

PC games without quit options aren't unheard of. They just usually turn out to be Japanese ports of games that are at least a few years old.

Microsoft with all its' issues lately is rivaling niche Japanese ports in their bizarre issues.

Indeed this is true.
But um what about someone using a controller ?
They cant quit

Thats the point here , why in the shit would you not include a quit option?
Even other UWP games have a quit option , it just seems like a stupid oversight.

You know this isn't happening lol

PC gamers.. complaining about reaching for a m/kb to operate a game. Now I've seen it all.

The lack of a menu option is dumb however.
Considering that PC is all about options, having them artificially removed because of bad decisions is a bad thing. Even if the solution is as easy as grabbing the mouse and moving it to a random corner, on which a close button will magically appear (which is the polar opposite of intuitive, mind you).

How many fullscreen games since you started in Windows 95 have had that X in the top right corner?

honestly people defending the lack of a quit button baffles me. It's like the sales person telling me I gotta exit my new car through the sunroof.

but Japanese ports have only gotten better, while MS's have only gotten worse.

Strange days, indeed.

i'd like to imagine that its so easy that someone can see that tweet or this thread and go "oh shit" and put it in

I mean, it's a Quit button

For those that are huge couch players.....yes it's nice and people who don't know how to quit an app through other means it can be be a big WTF moment. Side questions since I don't use big picture or any of the controller modes: do UWP games even work nicely with steam?

dude you've been able to get out from cars through the sunroof since like the 50s

what's the big deal

Threads about MS games on PC bring out a whole bunch of people that aren't familiar with the platform but want very badly to stop people from complaining about Microsoft. It happens every time.

I dont think the lack of a quit option can be considered something artificially removed unless someone comes right out and says they were forbidden from putting it in. It was probably just overlooked by Remedy, who ported the game themselves. Other WinStore games have it.

why are you acting like this is something new and that windowed or borderless fullscreen modes don't exist

There's this wave of posters who come specifically into Win10 threads (posters who have previously not engaged in other PC threads) and furiously defend everything involving Win10 ports, UWPs and the app store. So please be gentle on them for not knowing the basics of how PC gaming work, they're just in it for Microsoft's new platform!

I know Microsoft are dedicated to PC gaming and whatever they're doing, it's actually an improvement and not being able to quit games with reasonable methods is fine, it's actually better this way. For example mods. Mods can be full of hacks, so it's great that Microsoft have taken care of us by disabling them!

I believe in Phil Spencer!

yes I'm being sarcastic, but then again Microsoft have demonstrated absolutely no reason for me to give them any props with their Win10 shit. Every game they've launched on their store has either been riddled with issues or tone deaf towards the PC platform. They deserve to be raked over the coals until they get it right or leave us PC gamers alone.

Like, there is absolutely no reason to defend this. No reason someone should go "it's better this way". You can say "well it's a stupid oversight and there are other ways so it's not too bad" but people actually defending this are just... what?

That's the point. If Remedy overlooked something as basic and simple as a quit function, then god only knows what the hell else they "overlooked."

Thus we're terrified it's a shit port.

Strange days, indeed.

Microsoft's ports have, to be fair, been all over the place with performance.

Gears of War: UE had a bunch of issues.

Killer Instinct runs fairly well on most every setup with only one general performance issue (regarding 144hz monitors).

And now Quantum Break possibly has some performance issues.

honestly people defending the lack of a quit button baffles me. It's like the sales person telling me I gotta exit my new car through the sunroof.

"Uhh... there are no doors on the car."

"Yes sir, we know, you have to exit through the sunroof."

"Well that's silly."

"It's the future sir. Just use your legs. It's fine. You don't need doors."

Also, I wouldn't bother blaming Remedy for this. They've done PC games before. They know what's what. I'd blame Microsoft and there strict bullshit Windows Store/UWP crap.

Maybe its a shit port. Maybe it isnt. Freaking out over a missing quit option seems to be overkill to me but I guess maybe to some it is the canary in the coal mine. *shrug*

For the record Fable Legends beta ran and looked great in its PC form. Unfortunately it was taken out back and shot in the head.

Oh, it's got doors. But it's like a cop car, you can only open them from the outside. So you can get in, but you can't get out again.

Fair enough. Still a dumb thing to miss, and doesn't give much hope to me for other aspects of the port.

How many fullscreen games since you started in Windows 95 have had that X in the top right corner?
Even worse, how many Win95 programs didn't show the X button up there and instead expected you to just know it's there, as is the case with fullscreen W10 apps?
