(my normal/stable settings as you see)
Pretty good for the gtx460 ;)

Raptor can you put :

#3 P12191 - 2x MSI Lightning Xtreme 580 3GB - (875mhz, 2100mhz, 1.013v) - Core i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz - Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1600 - ASUS P8P67 Pro - Smokey - Corsair H70 - Link

Under the Nvidia dual card section. It's still showing my old score. It's correct on the overall leaderboard though. Gonna continue later on today. Wanna see how close I can get to those Tri-Fire 6970s. At the very least I should be able to get into Hawk's range. I only have a AX850 PSU compared to his 1200w so I should probably be careful lol

Thought id put temps as well

Note my side intake fan was off, cuz honestly it makes more noise than its worth

I have one available to me....

Uhmm, why is my CPU (Core i7 2600k) stuck at 1600MHz when I run the test? I'm pretty sure it runs faster than that when I'm using other applications.

It's not. 3DMark11 typically shows wrong system settings, especially on overclocks.

Increased the voltage and pretty much maxed out my graphics cards. They're not going to budge past 900 MHz without some big time tweaking. So this will probably be the best I can do with my current setup. :)

msi afterburner for your graphics card, and ur motherboard bios/uefi for the CPU I know some motherboards come with windows utilities for overclocking, but thats ill advised.

Could do with a better processor but it gets the job done for 99% of games (GTAIV still puts up a fight). Can't wait for BF3. My PC is ready.

Edit: Had the wrong value for memory clock (put shader clock instead), and incorrect speed for RAM (recently switched to 12GB @ 1600 from 6GB @ 2000 due to stability issues). Everything is good now.

I have come to the conclusion the game is simply not optimized at all. On my brothers i7 2600K, GTX 580, and 8GB of ram the game fps is all over the place going as low as 30.

Careful, there's a GTA defence force out there that'll rip you to shreds, the word you were looking for was futureproof....futureproof.

Compared to consoles, definitely. But the framerate goes all over the place. Trying to maintain a solid 60 without any hiccups seems impossible.

Does your brother have an Asus card by any chance?

I had that problem before I got my Lightning 580, and was using an Asus. Another user in the PC thread said the same thing and he was also using an Asus.

No doubt, but there's no way I'll think that Gta4 vanilla should have a reason to destroy the kind of rigs people throw at it.

I think Avast is/has fucked everything up, but despite adding the .exe as an exclusion and even killing Avast altogether, it still won't launch.

He's using Gigabyte GTX 580. His motherboard is a Asus. Don't know if that matter or not.

OK, so. After reading the thread. Thinking about upgrading. Getting depressed with a bit of lag in RO2. Ive been toying around with Overclocking my cpu/memory.
Turns out my RAM might have even been very underclocked (running at 400mhz, as opposed to 800). Ive also given myself a nice boost on the CPU too. Got roughly an extra 0.4 Ghz on each core, 2.5 to 2.9 ghz. So not too bad since its all standard cooling and just fiddling with the settings.

Ive restarted my computer about 1000 times this afternoon, but I think these clocks are sticking. New results for me, 200 higher. Both CPU scores were about 500 higher.
A good days work I think haha.

Hmm, I'm noticing everyone's gpu temps and it's got me wondering: my 6950 idles at 63 C and I believe it goes above 75-80C during load. Is this normal for the 6950? I'm tempted to unlock the shaders and OC, but that would just bring up the temps.

That seems awfully high. Is it a reference 6950? My 2 Lightnings in SLI idle at 41-43c for top card and 37-39c for the bottom card for comparison.

Raptor has failed us, he's not updating the OP!

Yes, it's a reference XFX 6950 with the bios switch. I don't want to have to change the thermal paste on the card (which would probably solve my problem) unless those temps are really abnormal for a 6950.

Seems a tad high but not that bad for a reference cooler. I get about 8-10C below yours and i have a triple fan cooler. I also have an older case with not great airflow though.

I think i might be doing something wrong or my CPU is REALLY holding my performance back in this benchmark.

just spent an hour doing a semi-suicide run with the windows open (18c ambient) ... bit disappointing really

got CPU to 5.151 GHz with 1.50v (max I'm willing to pump through it), everything higher needed more vCore I guess

GPU did 930 stable, anything higher needs more volt again but I'm already at the software limit (bios flashed) so that's not improving unless I start soldering (99% sure I'll kill it given my escapades in the past so that's never gonna happen)

so all in all I only increased from 7270 to 7447 :( :( :( was hoping for 7800 or something. Although I guess it's a good sign that my cooling lets me run at close to maximum every day :)

so final submission for now (not going to be much better until outdoor temps drop significantly in late December I guess) :

yeah CPU is holding back, here's a comparison between yours and a run I did back in January with my CPU @ 4400 and the graphics at stock (just like yours)

GraphicsTest1 - 22.51 - 21.03 FPS
GraphicsTest2 - 23.5 - 21.88 FPS
GraphicsTest3 - 32.07 - 29.86 FPS
GraphicsTest4 - 16.47 - 15.61 FPS
PhysicsTest - 12.92 - 31.24 FPS
CombinedTest - 17.65 - 23.3 FPS

you score better due to improved drivers and all, but no chance to get higher with that physics & combined test... well overclocking will make it higher ofcourse but never 7k territory

who me? 1080p maxed and everything runs fine, BF3 shouldn't look bad at whatever brings me 60 fps either

SLI 480 means: used card, new PSU (HX650 now), new waterblock, and the new overclock settings will probably be lower than optimal because my current card isn't the best clocker out there

upgrade to single 580 means: pay €200+ assuming I sell the 480 and €75 assuming I can even sell the waterblock for a ~20% upgrade (when overclocked).

I'd rather pocket all that cash and get a next-gen Nvidia card sometime next year I guess ;) or that sexy HMZ-T1. Anyway need to finish uni and get a job first lol

---

also you could just put 1.1v or more through those cards for benching. I mean my 480 came with 1.088v at stock lol (bad clocker ... ). Hell everyone used to bench their stock 480s at 1.138v, and those haven't got the better cooling and extra VRMs of a Lightning :)

I know. I'm not pushing them as hard as I can since I only have a Corsair AX850. Want to be careful. Is there some type of program that I can run on my CPU that will tell me how much wattage my machine is using?
