It's not. 3DMark11 typically shows wrong system settings, especially on overclocks.nincompoop said:Uhmm, why is my CPU (Core i7 2600k) stuck at 1600MHz when I run the test? I'm pretty sure it runs faster than that when I'm using other applications.
Haunted said:ok... did a first run just now.
Where can I find the latest overclocking tools again?

Could do with a better processor but it gets the job done for 99% of games (GTAIV still puts up a fight). Can't wait for BF3. My PC is ready.
Edit: Had the wrong value for memory clock (put shader clock instead), and incorrect speed for RAM (recently switched to 12GB @ 1600 from 6GB @ 2000 due to stability issues). Everything is good now.

It's called 3DMark11 for a reason.Wonko_C said:

Compared to consoles, definitely. But the framerate goes all over the place. Trying to maintain a solid 60 without any hiccups seems impossible.Smokey said:Game is still awesome on PC though

I had that problem before I got my Lightning 580, and was using an Asus. Another user in the PC thread said the same thing and he was also using an Asus.

Smokey said:That seems awfully high. Is it a reference 6950? My 2 Lightnings in SLI idle at 41-43c for top card and 37-39c for comparison.

I think i might be doing something wrong or my CPU is REALLY holding my performance back in this benchmark.
n0n44m said:yeah CPU is holding back, here's a comparison between yours and a run I did back in January with my CPU @ 4400 and the graphics at stock (just like yours)
GraphicsTest1 - 22.51 - 21.03 FPS
GraphicsTest2 - 23.5 - 21.88 FPS
GraphicsTest3 - 32.07 - 29.86 FPS
GraphicsTest4 - 16.47 - 15.61 FPS
PhysicsTest - 12.92 - 31.24 FPS
CombinedTest - 17.65 - 23.3 FPS
you score better due to improved drivers and all, but no chance with that physics test...

Smokey said:Any reason why you don't wanna go SLI?
n0n44m said:who me? 1080p maxed and everything runs fine, BF3 shouldn't look bad at whatever brings me 60 fps either
SLI 480 means: used card, new PSU (HX650 now), new waterblock, and the new overclock settings will probably be lower than optimal because my current card isn't the best clocker out there
upgrade to single 580 means: pay 200+ assuming I sell the 480 and 75 assuming I can even sell the waterblock for a ~20% upgrade (when overclocked).
I'd rather pocket all that cash and get a next-gen Nvidia card sometime next year I guess or that sexy HMZ-T1. Anyway need to finish uni and get a job first lol

also you could just put 1.1v or more through those cards for benching. I mean my 480 came with 1.088v at stock lol (bad clocker ... ). Hell everyone used to bench their stock 480s at 1.138v, and those haven't got the better cooling and extra VRMs of a Lightning
