Who got the Best PC on GAF?

not top of the line that's for sure. but it works great with the games I do play. wanted to get a 5090 card but, well, we all know how that turned out.

AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12 core
ASUS TUF B550-PLUS
Gigabyte 3090
32GB RAM
Samsung 49" G9 OLED monitor

fun little things. I got my machine from a pre-built site and actually ordered it with the 3080 card back then. but when it arrived it's installed with a 3090 instead. so... yeah, I'm not complaining.

I just got a 5080 from Best Buy that will be ready for pickup next week. Current pc in r9 5900x and a 3080ti.

i7 13700K
RTX 4080
32 GB 5600MT RAM
LG 65G4

Laptop:
i9 13980 HX
RTX 4070
32 GB 4800 MT RAM

Only played Baldur's Gate 3 and Indy on PC last year, I am still more of a couch comfy guy. But this console generation has nowhere excited me as last gen did.

This thread should require that people posting their specs:
  1. Upload a screenshot of their system configuration using AIDA64 (or equivalent).
  2. A dated sticky note applied to their computer case that says "Hi, NeoGAF, it's me, [INSERT USERNAME]"--with clear line of sight into the internals.
  3. Any extravagant display claims should also be validated by way of a separate, or all-inclusive, photo.
Lots of master race liars. You can never be too sure.

Never use AID64, so it's the TRIAL VERSION (since it screams it at you :p). So, it'll have to do!

Main PC:

9800X3D
Noctua NH-D15 G2
Asus Crosshair X870E Hero
64GB DDR5 G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 6000mhz CL30
EVGA RTX 3090
CaseLabs Merlin SM8 case
Corsair HX1000i psu
4TB WD SN850X

Secondary PC parts so far:

10700K
Noctua NH-D14 -> planning to upgrade
Asus Maximus XII Hero
32GB DDR4 G.Skill Ripjaws V 4000mhz CL16
no videocard yet
no psu yet
no case yet
1TB Samsung 960 Pro -> planning to upgrade
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium

Last year I upgraded my computer and my eventual plan is to use my main PC as a gaming PC hooked up to a TV and then use my secondary PC as my daily driver web browsing PC.
I plan to move my current PSU, videocard, and SSD over to the secondary PC and then get better gear for the main PC once I can.

How are your GPU thermals? Love the upright GPU but I've avoided those cases because supposedly some GPUs perform poorly depending on their heatpipe setup. Lian Li's page for the O11 Evo XL has a list of which ones perform best with IO facing up vs down or doesn't matter.
Interesting! Had no idea that different cards handled vertical/horizontal differently.
Anyway I haven't noticed any problems but I can't say I push the graphics card very often, the TV can only do 4K60 so I limit the output to 60 fps.
Default fan curves made the whole thing loud though so maybe that's a hint that it could be something there idk. I've tweaked everything for silence on this build, every case fan is like 20dB too.

Mine is not the best but still gets me by.

2080 super
5800x3d
32gigs ram
separate M.2 drives for OS and game installs.
Dual monitors, but only slightly above 1080p.

I'm glad dlss4 is coming way back to the 2080 series.

Probably one of the better AMD builds at least if something:

Lian Li A3 mATX
PowerColor 9070 XT Reaper
AMD 9800X3D
Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 AIO
ASRock B850M Pro-A
Team Group T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-6000 32GB CL30
Kingston Renegade Fury 2TB NVME
Gigabyte Aorus Elite P850W

I really like the micro ATX form factor, first case like this for me.

My specs:
MSI Gaming X Trio 4090
Ryzen 7 9800x3d
32 GB G Skill Flare Ram 6000 speed CL 30
MSI Mag Tomahwk Wifi X670E
2 TB SSD, 1 TB SSD, 500GB SATA SSD
Noctua D-15 Chroma Black Cooler

Gonna update the case and go water cooling in the near future. Also the 9800x3d now kinda forces me to upgrade to a 1000w PSU.

I know people who work in a water cooling team. Why do you want to go that route? Requires maintenance. Nightmare if ypu upgrade your gpu in the future. You have a beast of a pc that will last years but what happens if ypu want to drop a 6090 in there?

Hows the 9070 xt and what did you have before if you dont mind me asking?

I think more interesting would be who's got the potato-est PC that they actually game on in 2025
i7 4790K
RX6600 (new, upgrade from 970 GTX)
16GB DDR3 1600MHz
750GB worth of SSDs
1920x1080 75Hz

Has the best games on it though which makes it the best! ;D Runs everything I want smooth as butter and I also make (2D) games with it. I have some pretty decent speakers (Nubert A-20), a quality reclining sofa seat, and loads of homegrown for my Arizer Solo vaporizer, which increases the immersion (gaming) and creativity (gamedev).

I have a close friend who is actively rocking 1050ti and an AMD FX CPU in 2025 (not on gaf and only plays the original Crysis and farming sim tho)

Ive asked before, apparently "Crysis is the best game ever" and farming sim is self explanatory, i wanted to give him my old 3070ti, said he doesnt need it because he can run everything he wants without issue. Cant fault someone for knowing exatly what they want.

Funnily he can easily afford 5090 every month and we have been trying to get him to upgrade and play other games for years, but every game we show him something (like Witcher 3, Baldurs Gate 3, Red Dead 2 and so much more) he just dismisses and calls it "lame trash". Now hes finally starting to show interest in Assassins Creed Shadows and Tlou2 so i guess this could finally be it once he realizes he wont be able to run them.

I kind of respect of that, honestly. I'm doing the same but with the GTA VI PC port.
