This is on sale on Amazon for $19...Considering getting it...I have plenty of other stuff to play but...$19 is so cheap...
The prison area is a good long linear mission. The subway, gear head vault, and jackals camp coming up soon are the best 3 missions in the game.So I've just joined the resistance and the game is really starting to pick up. I've got cool shit, I'm doing more unique and interesting missions and HOLY FUCK are the animations great in this game. Nothing like having a mutant jump onto a door frame, then run towards you like a nutter, or run against the wall and do that crazy Matrix-y flip move. They just look so awesome. It definitely helps with the gunplay too because when you hit someone you can really feel the impact through the animations.
This game is wasted with the open world. Too much am I going to the sheriff, being sent somewhere which is a fairly long drive, to flick a switch and pick something up only to drive straight back. Fucking boring. The world is void of personality and is just boring to drive through, as well.
The linear levels (like the dead city or whatever it's called and the sewers) are so amazing, top class id design. If this game was a focused, linear game I think it would be one of the best of the year. As it stands, I have to put up with the open world crap to get to the real meat of the game. Shame.
Hopefully these linear levels will only increase now I'm part of the resistance. My next stop is the prison to save their leader, which sounds cool.
On PC nightmare difficulty is too easy but that probably doesn't translate to gamepads 1:1.Played the demo last week and enjoyed it. Will definitely pick up the game once it drops some more dollars, maybe boxing day.
I forget what level of difficulty I played on but things seemed hard as hell to kill and could definitely do a shit tonne of damage.

There's something about the controls on PS3, they seem sort of sluggish to me. Even with the sens at max (both x and Y axis) they still felt a little sluggish. Makes it a pain when those nimble bandits get within reach of you. I try to keep a distance between them but if they get in close the sort of sluggish aiming makes it tricky to track them. Just finished the game (PS3 version). Loved the gameplay and had a great time throughout, including the car combat surprisingly enough.
That ending though...what a fucking cop-out. Total disappointment.
Also, how do I change my guns on my buggie? I'm playing on the 360 (i know....) and bought both the mini gun and rockets upgrades to the car. But I can't figure out how to change between them =(
This or DNF were my choices this year to blow money on a classic FPS developer's possibly mediocre game. I probably made a mistake going for DNF. I think I'd really like this game from reading through the thread.
A mediocre game with great music.I also had high expectations for Rage and after playing it I couldn't understand why I was so excited for such a mediocre game.
So I've just got to the last area and I checked the IGN guide to see I have like 4/5 missions left to finish.
Really odd, because I'm only 4hrs 20 into the game. Much shorter than I expected.
The fact it's such a short game only adds to my annoyance that they just sent me back to the Dead City to backtrack all the way through for basically yet another fetch quest. Great game design there - cheers!
Urgh.
Finished it. Glimpses and moments of brilliant, but never more than that.
Someone compared it to Ep 2 in the Steam thread (JaseC?) and I'm sorry but that's utterly laughable
I really hope id learn a lot of lessons from the design of this game and come back with a kick ass, linear, Doom 4. This game could've been one of the best of the year, easily.
A fun six hours, but I'll never touch it again.
I hate how when they want you to be done with someone you just hit a dead end. Some people give you missions and then just shut up and don't respond. And if its a major character they just outright take them out of the game. They close the door to their room or say they got kidnapped. A more specific example is that guy that upgrades your defibrillator, he just ignores you if you go see him when your done with his missions. Its a shame because the took a lot of care in animating them and making them believable characters and so stuff like that just sticks out.
Can't for the life of me get this to run well on a hd6870.
Texture popup remains when turning around no matter what even with the patch, and I tried some config tweaks from the thread and it just made the game run poorly.
I'm ready to give up and forget it ever existed.

What are the benefits of installing this (Xbox version). I would have to delete a lot of stuff off my harddrive to fit it. Is it worth it?
That's strange with the newer drivers it works well (in the engine's limitations) on my 5850. But yeah this game is just a huge, huge disappointment. Can't for the life of me get this to run well on a hd6870.

Realistically... is there any way they can fix the texture pop on PS3? Will they even try?
I tried to play this again... but the shit makes me feel nauseated after only a few mins.
How the fuck am I supposed to platinum this when NO ONE plays online on PS3?
I had 1 other guy in the lobby and it just waited for 2 more. You'd think they'd allow a race to go ahead with only 2.
I just want the 2 race trophies for winning one and participating in one.
FUCK.
I have the feeling no one demanded a car combat focused MP. Like you suggest I would've at least checked out an on foot MP. I'm not against car combat per se but the car gameplay didn't exactly made me yearn to play it competitively.Hardly unexpected, since id and Zenimax thought it was a good idea to make the multiplayer a car combat game instead of a shooter. Even a simple team deathmatch would have kept a community for longer.
But I blame the stupid "No MP = no buy" mentality. People demand it, devs spend time and money making a half-assed MP mode and then those that demanded MP don't play it...
Amazed you did it all in 6 hours.
My Normal completed save is 16 hours. But I did pretty much everything you can do in the game. Sometimes a few times.
It's very stupid that a shooter doesn't have an online multiplayer deathmatch/team deathmatch component.
Wish ID had made a classic deathmatch for online though. Those weapons/toys would be great in a Quake style environment.
They could and if I vaguely remember they hinted at the possibility if demand was there. But this game is done saleswise and I don't think we'll see neither TDM nor the better texture filtering patch (for PC) that was talked about.maybe they could patch one in
