RalliSport Challenge 2 appreciation thread (56K = roadkill)

Isn't this game supposed to be a very arcade-ish racer?

On another note, is there even a single realistic racing sim on xbox? And please don't say PGR2, no car has brakes like the ones in the game..

1. Yes, I think that's the problem I have w/ it.

2. Allow me to introduce you to:

It isn't very arcade-ish at all. It is arcade-ish though.

What do you mean by realistic sims though? collect lots of different cars and shit? You have two sega gt games. Realistic rally game to the degree it's boring? richard burns rally.

I'm all about RSC2, one of the rare sequels that made the previous game pointless in my collection. Aside from the Career mode being quite a bit easier to progress through (which is moot to those simply earning cars quickly to use in Time Attack), most everything else gets the nod over RSC1.

This thread reminds me that that orange 037 and black/white Metro 6R4 are waiting for some new time attacks or clean race replay captures.

Is the answer still 'no' in regards to RSC2 coming to PC? I was hoping the so-so sales would make them want to recoup their losses and get a PC version out. I know M$ published RSC1 on the PC.

I also have MotoGP on the PC, but will more than likely pick up the XBOX version this week as I'm sure it's super cheap now...

Wha!!? Fuck that...

OK, MotoGP2, I have to admit, I forgot all about that.. But then, I hate bikes :D I may buy it anyway if it's really good, though.

RSC2 has been one of my best gaming experiences this gen. The GAF tourney kicked ass.

FMT - I was thinking that after the new year, people would be up for this. Typically, it's a slow time of year from now until E3. This year seems a bit more eventful with game releases, but I think a RSC2 tourney would be successful.

It's a crying shame that people didn't buy this game, or are even aware of it. I still play this game to this day, and it is one of the best titles available for both the XBox and XBL. A very good gaming experience. I only prey for a sequel on the next gen XBox hardware.

i think i'd like to at least try to participate in a new league, though my game playing time is still very sporadic and unpredictable, so i'm not sure i could really be counted on to make meets... a several day window for each race should be adaquet though.

actually, maybe i'll jump on today for a bit. anyone else interested to screw around for some races?

and on the topic of sim racers, richard burns rally is really fucking good... if you can get over the weak graphics and terrible framerate that is. i hope they are working on a much improved sequel, as the game itself was hot

i LOVE rsc2, but honestly, i think they lost a lot of what made the first soooo damn good. rsc1 >>> rsc2 i'm afraid (despite the improved visuals and vastly superior "campaign").

Your just mad that I kicked your ass all the time in the league. :D

I'd participate in the league even though I haven't played it in months. What little skills I had have probably dissipated but it should still be fun...

Best racer on Xbox, together with the first one. Just too bad shit like PGR and it`s equally shitty sequel totally overshadowed them. Do not expect a sequel due to crap sales.

But hey, there`s always another NFS sequel coming. I`d like to thank all gamers out there for buying NFS games in droves.

MotoGP2 takes the concept of "really good" and punches it in the face repeatedly, all the while yelling "This is what you get for setting the bar too low!". It is gaming bliss, digital crack, 2 wheels of heaven and made the letters NSR equivalent to the cheap dimestore hooker everyone gets to ride. :)

Yessir!

I'm all for RallySport 2 but geez don't any of you play Pro Race Driver 2? To be honest I haven't played in awhile but from what I remember that game had a sim. and arcade mode for every fan of the genre to enjoy. It especially played damn well online. The race chatter between you and the other racers on the track was also especially good. The visuals don't compare to Rallysport or the PGR series but had a pretty slick ultra clean look to go with the games incredibly long draw distances.

My copy was scratched when my bro borrowed my copy. The game is worth buying twice-I'll be grabbing another copy soon.

Can I make a citizen's ban for this offense?

Have you ever seen Gek talk positively about an Xbox exclusive racer? Ofcourse not. No force FEeDABck SuPport WheEl On Xbox!!!!111!!1
That`s always his excuse. He`s nothing but a PS2 troll trying to hide his bias.

I rememeber he talked shit about the first RSC game also, until he tried out the PC version with a wheel. Then it was suddenly pretty good.. :lol

:lol That was some good fun while it lasted.

i remember being so proud getting a time, i think i was like -5 to 10 seconds ahead of the leader and on the last day you plow my time into the ground by like 5 seconds

it scarred my online gaming career for life!

:lol :lol :lol As soon as I get the xbox back online(having network issues right now) we need to get a small tourney up for a weekend sometime. I haven't played much since we all played, but I'm up for any online racing with fellow gaf'ers.

a thorough search for motogp 2 xbox pal version on the net reveals that it can't be had in europe for less than an arm and a leg whereas the pc version goes for dirt cheap.

teh shortage!1!11

why?..

How could any of you like racing games, and be this clueless about MotoGP1 and 2?

I mean, really...

I have a excuse. I only just got an Xbox in September and so far have only been interested in the more recent games as opposed to catalogue titles. I will check out Gamerankings and filter a search for 75% and up titles.

Shows how much you know about videogames lol :lol

Try CMR4, RACE DRIVER2, and Forza which isnt out yet. There are more sim or how you put it realistic racers on xbox as well.

Oh, no, I think most everyone on this forum "gets it", it's just that it's pretty fucking lame to shun one of the greatest games ever, because you are confined to playing it with a control pad.

But surely you dont hate NFSU2 ? They got the car sounds right at least ?

Yeah, I found it for 15 quid (GAME sale in case any other Brits are interested).

I likey so much. Something about drifting just makes me all giddy. Which is probably why I can't my head around 90 degree turns. Hairpins, you can e-brake and throw the ass round like crazy, whereas the long shallow turns it's a prolonged elegant glide .

Now I have driven total of 6+ hours so far, and I'm still in love. The gameplay's gotten fierce due to having opened couple of the Killer B's. That MG Metro is fugly little cube of a car, but furiously fast. It's like trying to control a little metal hurricane. 400+bhp + <2500lbs + wheelbase of a BMX bike = I'm begging it to go where I want more than telling it. Can't wait to open up the 037.

Graphically, after reading DaCoco's comments, my curiosity forced me to pop in RSC1. The difference is night and day. After RSC2. RSC1 just looks wrong. It's as if the car's lit like it's in a showroom under flourescent lights, while the environement looks like it's lit by incandescent lights. Just doesn't look right at all. The car just looks pasted on in the background, doesn't look like it belongs there.

In RSC2, the lighting on the car matches lighting in the scenary perfectly. The car looks like it perfectly belongs in that scene.

Also the scenary is also much more organic in RSC2. RSC1's desert for instance is way too clean looking. RSC2's desert looks like desert, not some half baked CG representation like in RSC1. The environment just looks 100x better in RSC2.

BTW, I have now ripped Sega Rally 1 and 2 soundtracks into my XBox and racing to those tunes. It's almost as if I'm playing Sega Rally 3 on the XDude. :D

The lighting is amazing. I also like the touches of how losing your headlights can really make a difference. And how the glare can actually be a hinderance in snow tracks. Just an amazing game. I'm blown away by some of the GT4 media I've seen, and the perfect touch of real world lighting they have, but that game doesn't take on the effects this one puts out. Stunning.
