Isn't it kinda nice, though? I like that anyone can see my online name pretty much anywhere and be fairly certain that it's me. I feel bad for people who don't have universal online identities.
Certainly makes it easier to remember people, too. I think it was an RGer with the PSN id 599usdollars, and while it's a funny name and it sticks out, I can't remember for the life of me who that is. Whereas I see davedough and I know it's that guy with the nips of steel

Probably because invariably, people end up recommending the same games every time, with nothing new being said.

I've thought about taking out a lawsuit on Davedough... a pizzaria in Texas. I can prove through the magic of the Interwebs that I've been Davedough for FAR longer than he has. I just cant think of the basis for why it affects me. =P

It is? I figured 9gag can't possibly own the copyright to the image, so I wasn't doing anything more wrong than they were doing by spreading it around.

I have had similar thoughts aimed at the inventors of the "echoshifting principle" and, more importantly, with the creators of echoshift. A far more egregious theft, in my opinion. Ten years from now people are going to think I got the name from some obscure puzzle game. Boo.

This was what I expected, but she was riveted. She listened to the whole thing, and wanted me to explain the parts she didn't get when I was done.
I used the first dwarf song from The Hobbit...the one from the trailer, so I had a bit of melody I could cling to ;p
Hopefully the imagery of the dragon storming the Misty Mountains and ravaging the countryside will give her pleasant dreams

We have a bigger military* than the next fourteen or so countries combined. We can pretty much conquer all of Europe without needing to institute a draft. You have nothing to worry about.
*spending-wise, at least; either way, there are plenty of people involved, too

9gag has been found on many occasions to simply copy and paste whatever is on reddit and put it on their site simply to garner traffic. Redditers have a profound hatred towards 9gag.

LA gaf meetup being overrun Cloverfield/Shaun of the Dead style.
Breaking up a prostitution ring run out of a Starbucks, getting stabbed and running for my life.
Watching a baseball game in a local field and having a helicopter crash and kill some of my friends.
Posting a porn site on Facebook accidentally and the horror of it.

This is, for all intents, a thread based on being friends from an event in January. That's a dead end as far as new participants regardless of where it is, but the solution is the same as it is for every community thread in Community: do something new. Have a new temporary event in Off-Topic that engages the general population and links back here.
