"Sucks" is a stretch isn't it? It's one of the most highly rated games of all time and it's meant to be played with at least the soft lock on clearly, free aim is madness on controller.

I'm an absolute pedant for graphics and framerate and the like but sometimes you just have to play the game and get over things, or you wait 14 years lol. The game will not hit quite the same after all this time clearly, though I do think it holds up very very well and the characters and dialogue is superb, like top tier of all games.
You already responded yourself the mainly reason why it sucks. PC is a sea of games where performance and gameplay don`t suck so RDR was easily skippable for 14 years.

Relax 😂

I know I could go and buy a PC and play it there. Chill out with your industry ruining hyperbole. It’s beneath you.

Its mos def not beneath me.

People on Twitter asking for remasters and remakes of games you can already play on a PS5/Xbox Series X.

I saw people asking for a remake for Alien Isolation. or GTA IV

Its fucking insane. And they are conditioning other games to expect remakes for every other game under the sun as well. Or remasters, whatevs.

GTA 4 was a terrible port at the time, i bought it on release back in 2008, it was a straight up 360 copy, and ran badly yeah GTA V and RDR 2 ran well but not GTA 4.
GTA IV’s big problem was that it used like 1-2 threads at a time where multi-core CPUs were becoming ubiquitous. I had a an old dual core I OC’d by like 25% and was getting better performance than my quad core. Still is junk unless you mod it.

Yeah, pretty brutal port overall.

Free aim is the only way to play GTA/RDR games on a controller. Unless you absolutely suck at aiming.

For GTA V, the 'Standard FPS' control scheme is needed for it.

In RDR, I never had an issue with it on 360.

It's not meant to be played with a softlock but it's there for journalists

And don't forget Games For Windows Live. Just to make that much worse.

How could I? I still can't play my legally owned copy I bought from there. During the migration, there was some stuff to tie your GFWL with Rockstar Social/Club or some fuckery. I guess I used a burner email or something because whatever I use to try and log in does not work, so I can't play the game on Steam. I forgot the specifics, but I have it in my library and can't play it.

I debated buying it again for $10, but fuck this shit. Ain't giving Rockstar a dime for this game.

Welcome to 14 years ago master race.

When they ported this to PS4 recently I knew this was going to happen. Played it at 4k 60fps and it was a massive improvement. Anyone on PC considering a replay you should.

I just always owned all 3 consoles alongside my PC, I don't get this waiting 14 years to play one of the best games ever made. Nowadays you don't even need an Xbox it you have a PC outside a handful of titles.

Like it you had the money for a PC why wouldn't you be able to buy a preowned PS or Xbox? Please help me understand, I'm in the UK where these things are more expensive too, is it a pride thing? I don't get it, if I want to play a game I get the console and play it, sometimes on launch, sometimes way later sometimes the Pro as in the last gen (because I was big into Diablo III and then Hitman during the start of the PS4 cycle).

I would bet most of us played this already years ago. Even if you only had a PC there was numerous ways to play this if you were really dying to. But a native port is obviously better than emulating it or streaming it.

Such a disappointment to not have MP included just like the new console versions. MP, especially the Undead Nightmare modes were so much fine online.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
In the past few days:
1) Alien Isolation sequel announced
2) Silent Hill 2 Remake gets positive reception
3) Metaphor:ReFantazio gets glowing reception
4) RDR1 for PC

2024 has been legendary

Man, PC be feasting this year. Not to mention GOW Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades 2, Indiana Jones , Deadlock etc

Hell fucking yes! RDR2 was the (nearly) perfect cowboy simulator, but RDR1 was the superior crafted game. Been waiting for this for a long time. I don't remember 100% but I think I never finished Undead Nightmare.

It's nice that PC is finally getting this but considering PlayStation is remastering games from 5 minutes ago I don't get why R* wouldn't want to do a proper job of it.

I have never heard of the people doing the port. Double Eleven?

Was it limited to 20~30fps, 720p resolution, high input lag, no better controls, no mods, no night shadows, no free online...???
It ran worse than that, you obviously wern't there at the time, i'm a PC only gamer, never owned a console but that doesn't mean all PC games are better if they are bad ports and GTA 4 was a bad port.

I'm a bit greedy but wou have loved it redone on the rdr2 engine
Especially since the entire map of 1 is in 2 (I think).

I honestly thought from the beginning that would be their plan; to release 1 as DLC to 2, and have the whole story in the same game/engine.

All the heavy work is done. I would think all they need to do is port it over and update the textures.
