I think I play more poker then the actual game.
I used to ride everywhere, now I warp. Even though the world building is pretty, there's not much to do apart from the odd stranger quest so I don't miss much.
The mechanics of gunplay are still weird. Dead Eye means I rarely feel threatened, but the cover system is hilariously erratic. The problem with the game is most missions seem to involve going from A to B and shooting some dudes. Sure, lots of games are nothing but shooting dudes, but those games have extremely polished mechanics.
In this game, all I do is wait for a guy to pop behind cover and shoot him in the head. Sometimes I will run to point blank range from some variety, and a different animation. but that's about it.
Enemies might move around a bit, but it's essentially a shooting gallery.
The world building, character, dialogue and voice acting are better then any other Rockstar game I've played. Each location has it's own character with cool, interesting art assets in it.
The economy isn't quite as broken and pointless as it is in Assassins Creed 2, but it nearly is. There's just no sense of scarcity. Compare and contrast the first few hours of Fallout 3, or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I also not entirely sure why you get access to one of the fastest horses in the game very early. Makes all the other steeds kind of irrelevant.
For me, games are ultimately about how much I enjoy the mechanics. They are already starting to wear a little thin on me here because of the lack of variety.
