Not at the moment, but I would expect that by a few months after release, once the newness wears off and only the dedicated gamers are left, it won't be much of an issue. Really, other than some odd lighting situations, you can detect the difference very easily.

Heh, yes I'd like to tell myself that but I've played games online for far too many years to believe that anymore. I have no faith in fellow gamers anymore.

Hopefully, the more mature crowd that tends to flock around these kind of games will prove me wrong.

Thanks, and yep, that's exactly what I'm experiencing. It's even worse on the other character models since they are already "soft". The option to disable it altogether will be much appreciated.

I'm having my doubts about the presumably vast server side options (basically turning relaxed into realistic). I think they should set a limit for realistic and relaxed settings, that way you know what to expect.

But I think your specific teamkill problem will even out once people get a hang of it. You can tell the teams apart by the colour of their uniform, the way they sprint (Germans hold their guns with one arm) and the shapes of their hats/helmets.

Yeah, I love it too. I agree though, cover has to be more fluent, less janky. Same for going prone, which can be a total pain in the buttocks.
 
I realize this is blasphemy in these parts, but the game is more like CoD 1 than I thought before. Esp on Apartments (cause FF is an awful map).
 
How do bandages work? When I get shot it says to use ctrl, but every time I hit it the screen goes black and I die. I've tried holding it as well, but no luck.

Also, sometimes I spawn with a pistol and sometimes I don't.

sometimes you'll be shot in a non fatal area like the leg or arm, when prompted you'll be able to bandage by pressing the ctrl key

there are certain circumstances for the fade-to-black which i am unsure of

pistol-less sounds like a bug

If you get shot fatally you can not bandage but it will still show the prompt.

Is that on different servers? Some may restrict side-arms on certain classes.

Yeah I did that. 100%. I didn't notice any update, but my internet is pretty fast.

That said, I get a 'the server runs dlc/files you do not have' errors when connecting to server. I realise the new beta version doesn't have Apartments, but I suppose everyone has this error until the servers get their update through and possible restarted?
 
So I see a new map "GUMRACK" but it wont let me join the server

Says:"unable to join as the host has downoadable content that you dont."

I wish they would've waited until Tuesday morning to roll this out. I hate updates releasing in the middle of a holiday weekend. Servers probably won't be updated for hours if not a day or two.

Gumrak has been in the beta since the start, it's the tank map.

The server probably hasn't been updated so you can't join it with the new patch.

Got my refund on the game, thanks god, what a mess.

Completely unoptimized I get 25-30fps, and barely hit 55fps on all low with everything turned off. People with 10x better comps than me are also having problems, while some with computers equal to or less than mine are getting 60fps maxed out.

What a joke, feels like a bad port job I would expect from some console game.

EDIT: In case someone is wondering my PC specs:

Q6600 @ 3.6GHZ
4GB DDR2 4-4-4-12
GTX 470 670-1340-1701

My CPU usage was @ 40-50% of two cores, while the other two were 20%, which means it used only two cores, and my GPU usage was around 35-45% (for comparison Deus Ex uses 90% and runs 60fps maxed out FXAA High). Hell I can even run Metro 2033 maxed out without advanced DOF @ 55-60fps+, while a game on an outdated UE3 engine I magically can't?

One or two weeks from release is not a beta anymore, it's a demo. There is no way they will be able to optimize this "beta" to the fps I'm expecting. Hell, I should be seeing 80+ fps from this game. I'm waiting for the $5 Christmas Steam Sale, because at this price it isn't worth the full price.

Oh and for the record I loved RO1, Killing Floor, The Ball. I've always supported Tripwire, and this is probably the first time they have truly let me down on what I have come to expect from them.

That's not a very convincing argument when the Game releases in just over 1 weeks time. The beta was only just ready for their planned start date pretty much meaning it is not an old build and there is no sign of the team announcing another release delay yet.

It's not going to affect my purchase decision though, it's a bit rough around the edges but I'm enjoying the game and the 22 man dev team is putting in plenty of overtime to improve the game right now.

if even yourself is saying that lesser PCs than you get a better performance then there's clearly something else going on. This is a small team, a game 1 week till release that will probably get heavily patched during the first months after release, i mean, its your choice, but you said it yourself: game works totally fine for most people, so its not a widespread issue to be calling it a badly opzimited-feels like a port job thing

all im saying is that i dont get what people were expecting coming in, first of all, the beta argument still holds, there's a lot they can fix going full time on a week, and even then, its RO, its gonna be rough around the edges on release, but the core gameplay is something you wont get anywhere else and something that no one has the guts to put out considering the competetitive bullet sponge fps genre. I dont feel any remorse supporting guys that make stuff like this, even when they have it tough being a small team and working their asses off.

Then again, your opinion, i dont have to like it and i can understand your frustration, i just dont feel like its right to criticize the game in such an objective way.

Yeah I take his "completely optimized" and raise him that my machine is not new by any means:

Quad 9550
4gigs of ram
ATI 5870

and I get a rock solid 60 fps at all times with the graphics on ultra/high (high shadows). I'm actually worried they're going to throw something into the beta that will give me WORSE performance, because I don't know how much better it could get.

What In The Fuck guys, Punkbuster? And I was enjoying this game.... thought it used Steam anti-cheat....

Gamebreaking for me just like with BFBC2, is this going to be in the final version?

Even without it, there's always one hacker in servers not running anti-cheat.

Let me reiterate my point, Fuck. If the ranked servers will all be running PB, then I want my money back Valve.

It does not advertise PB anywhere on the store page.

We are looking into the issue of updated servers NOT showing up in the browser. For now, connect via IP. Look in the forums for some.

We also strongly suggest those who are crashing on the new build to try turning down their settings. You may be running out of memorry on one of the new maps.

We'll be working hard tomorrow while some of you are enjoying your holiday to try and figure these things out!

As always, we strongly recommend you check out hte performance settings listed Here while we search for why some users are having subpar performance . Keep in mind, the larger player count servers will require stronger hardware to maintain performance. More is going on and more has to be rendered.
