What if the first NX games all started as Wii U games and because of that we don't get the graphical impressive games until 2017

I heard from multiple sources that you can choose between a male or female version of the NX console.
Well that should spark thirty pages of misogyny and vitriol like the Zelda thread right now lol.

"But Nintendo consoles are defined already, they are male. You can't just change that lore!"

That's pretty much the same for any console. The graphically impressive stuff takes 18-24 months to make an appearance. Also, I'm pretty sure only Zelda and Pikmin 4 started as Wii U games. The rest were early on enough to be nx ports.

Then this thing will probably be DOA.

I'm expecting:

1) 2 to 3 great games most people will own released in the first 12 months.

2) 1 or 2 popular "miscellany" mini-game or party titles that act as a system showcase in the first 12 months.

3) Ports of a few multi-platform titles. Witcher 3 would be a big deal, not sure it will happen.

Is that enough for you? If those 2 or 3 great games are must-have, maybe.

Interesting you think NX will get an exclusive classic-style Sonic game and a port of a modern-style game, how come?

Also, Versus XIII? :P

i think the rumor was that there would be two kinds of sonic games this year - one as a classic style and one as a modern style. i can see sega maybe trying to keep the modern style multiplatform (building a base for the future) and putting the classic style on one of the only platforms where that makes sense. maybe each game is $40 like ratchet & clank.

i call final fantasy versus xiii by its original name because i think the rebranding is hilarious and silly.

I suspect we may see a lot of Japan behind this system, either via a PS4/NX cross releases or Nintendo striking deals with a lot of publishers for their system only. Prime opportunity given the state of the market in Japan, and the competition has more or less settled into its rut and the promise of being the savor of the home market has more or less faded.

I see this as a real possibility with Level-5 (kids), Capcom (desperation), and Bamco (doesn't care so long as the system has middleware engine support), Square is already on the PS4 wagon with everything being timed exclusive already. Recent failings like SFV, likely also helps makes things easier for striking deals. This will make "larger library than the WiiU in one year vs its four" a very easy to surpass metric and task. of course that speaks nothing of the actual value and quality of the titles, however.

Of course this will also depending on marketing, messaging, and cost. And the PS4K is a non-factor for Japan.

Also, progressively moving your Wii U titles to NX would do that too. Hurting a system you are giving up on to help your future sale to happen.
Yeah. I wouldn't mind the Wii U's legacy to be completely forgotten if it means the NX would benefit from all the work put into it and would end up a success.

Wasn't Dragon Quest accidentally revealed for NX or am I misremembering?

Witcher 3 would be a fantastic get if they could get a version with all the DLC that was priced well.

Nintendo seems to have the most open communication with EA, Ubi, and Activision, so I wouldn't be shocked to learn that "release window" games would be coming from those publishers. If Nintendo has some tricks up their sleeve, we might even see a third party exclusive. It all depends on how much money they are throwing behind the NX, and all signs point to it being considerable.

I think SE is on board, but I wonder how they'll handle FFXV? I think Tabat said he wanted to make a better version of the game on PC so maybe NX, PS4.5X1.1 will get that?
Microsoft had their Xbox One reveal on May 21st, 2013 (around there), hardly a month before E3.
So Nintendo doesn't necessarily have to reveal something in April.
I feel waiting so long for it could be a mistake. The longer you wait the more leaks will happen. Right now it's been mostly positive but whose to say the next leak won't be its new controller without Nintendo being able to explain what it does?

I can see that.

Sonic Retro = NSMB
Sonic Modern = Super Mario

Getting a new Zelda at launch would be better than all those Zeldas mentioned. Better version of Smash 4, maybe a new Monster Hunter which would likely be better than that messy 3DS up port, a new 3D Mario should release within the first year like it has for 3DS and Wii U, could be better than both, Pikmin 4 is likely a NX game that didn't start its life as a Wii game,
Retro should have a game ready by the end of next year as well.
There can be ports of the rest of the good software like Bayonetta with potentially a Bayo 3 eventually
(Also, lol @ epic Mickey)

Nintendo : It's also a handheld
Japan : Sold

Please please be true.

As much as I'd like the library rumors to be true, I have trouble believing Nintendo will have that much software available.

They'd have to have a ton of third party deals in addition to their own output.

If you've believed Emily up to this point then you might as well go all the way! She wouldn't post something like that if she didn't mean it. She knows the Wii U games and she's a big Nintendo fan.

I don't think she would joke around about something like that. For her to say that would imply Nintendo's big guns are coming. We know Zelda NX is coming. We know 3D Mario is coming. I'm going to assume Metroid Prime 4 and this new Pokemon gen is also coming to NX. Luigi's Mansion 3 and Pikmin 4 also.

I forgot she could be counting the third party games like FFVIIR, DQXI, BG&2, etc. I mean those three games are already better than the all of the Wii U's 3rd party games combined lol.

That tweet is just nonsense, she probably hate the Wii U
No , your post is nonsense. She's a big Nintendo fan and Wii U advocate.

The tweet likely means the NX is actually getting third party support so the quantity of games is going to match the Wii U's output of four years into one. I believe that's what the tweet implies because there's no way Nintendo internally, even with all their partnerships, can put four years worth of exclusives into one year.

I don't know, I feel like she's talking merely about first party titles right now. I can perfectly see NX getting great support from Japan at least if the family concept turns out to be real, but it's better to not fly with imagination for now. At least, not too much :P

I mean a new Zelda,Mario, pikmin, multiple ports of good games, possible new ip's and heavy indie support would make for an amazing first year.

Let's not go crazy in here. The first step is getting a better launch window killer app than Nintendoland

True.

I still remember that disappointing E3 presentation.
Everyone is waiting for them to announce/show a killer game. A Metroid, Zelda, whatever.
Instead they show... Nintendoland. And was funny and hurtful how they leave it for last with such fanfare as if this is the game everyone is waiting for and wants to play.

I get the feeling that Nintendo will be smarter with what NX games they fund / invest in.

They funded a lot of critical and commercial failures during the Wii U era.

Sing Party, Devil's Third, Sonic Boom

Dude I think Mario and Zelda are all they need. Okay I might be over estimating but Zelda could serve as a graphical showcase with epic presentation ( so could Mario). Mario could serve as a casual experience with new ideas to appeal to the non-hardcore demographic.

I get the feeling that Devil's Third in particular, was just funded for the sake of some filler on the system to be honest. They mentioned a few times about not letting the people that bought the Wii U down.

Zelda.

Upgraded graphics.

Done.

Somehow I doubt Zelda is going to be a killer app that generates appeal for the "new concept" at the core of NX if it's a port of a Wii U game.

At best, it'll be Nintendo's answer to Zelda's market share going to shit while open world games have ascended.

Pikmin 4 is what gives me hope for the NX launch window. Miyamoto said last year around E3 it was almost done and here we are 10 months later and still hear nothing from it.

Nintendo is clearly building up a big profile list of games for NX launch window. They've either saved games for NX or moved games from Wii U to NX (which is probably what happened to Pikmin 4).

I mean Animal Crossing Festival and Mario Ultra Trash tells you what you need to know lol

Jesus..hype levels for NX are reaching a boiling point! It really sounds like Nintendo is reverting back to their old self. With Iwata no longer with us, I think Nintendo is going to take a more aggressive and competitive stance going forward. Music to Nintendo fans ears!

People were posting this word for word back in 2012. Be careful.

In spite of what I'm seeing with the rumours I'm going to force myself to expect the worst so in the worst case scenario I won't be disappointed and in the best case scenario I can be made hype.
