I'm hoping the NX is not very powerful since the system needs to be around the $250 price range if it's going to be a traditional console and not $350+. Nintendo still has an image issue and I don't see the people who pays $399 for a PS4 and X1 buying a NX unless it's cheap.

Sounds like a more traditional console thank the makers.

X86 was crucial this time around. Games devs weren't going to waste time and money porting their games to a completely different architecture just for Nintendo. This at least gives them a fighting chance.

I just hope that the system is demonstrably more powerful than the PS4 but that may be asking too much of Nintendo.

So far I'm generally happy with all the things I'm hearing about the NX. Dragon Quest being announced for it, Smash Bros being likely, Zelda U, A better CPU than the current consoles. Wasn't there also someone who said there was a big 3rd party title being developed for it in an older NX thread too?

Either way I'm hearing more positive healthy news more consistently than with the Wii U already, especially if the BG&E2 rumor is true. I'm also liking Nintendo's seemingly growing relationship with Square Enix. This thing could turn out great, no one needs Nintendo to go over the top, just deliver a console that has parity with the other consoles, get those multiplats as well as exclusive 3rd party titles and keep putting out those big 1st party titles and I think people in general will love the thing. God if I could actually get an all in one package in a Nintendo console

After that controller hoax im not sure why any other potential leakers are even bothering to share

You either have to completely out yourself or not even bother

Not too shabby of a mockup for the portable

At least reddit is good for something

https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoNX/comments/4dgb9x/specs_list_leaked_so_far/

Not a bad compiled list of the most recent flood of information

I suppose regardless of whether ANY of this info is good or not it does seem like the leaks are starting to show patterns

And patterns can be a sign of truthful info maybe?

I wouldnt read too much into any of this but there are bit here and there that are reasonable to assume anyways

Most of those still seems like rumours and educated guesses rather than real leaks, I like the sound of x486 - Ps4One level - 8GB - traditional controller - cartridges, but kind of sounds too good to be true...

I don't believe we'll get the announcement later this month (maybe some "look forward to e3") so the wait is going to be real painful these next two months...

yeah the info is too basic and too similar to dream predictions that people have been making on here for months now

And hell some GAF posters have a good idea of the current components market and listed what manufacturers Nintendo is currently partnered with

I would take their predictions more seriously than this vague shit

Link doesn't work

Fixed

Even if he gets verified I'm going to have a hard time taking somebody named "NXDev16UE4" seriously >_>

This is getting pretty embarrassing, can we just leave reddit alone for a good while? When you have so many "insiders" all posting one after another making new accounts to do so, especially right after the big controller fake, it's probably wise to just stop. It's starting to get annoying. The only good thing is that these NX threads can lead to actual leaks by more believable insiders such as LCGeek. It's really starting to look like verification on reddit means absolutely nothing.

Buttons underneath the analog stick? Even the mockups for Nintendo have to have some gimmick :p

But seriously, No. That would not work with any game that used the right stick.

I dunno

I like the Pro Controller so this design doesnt scare me

Exactly. At least NeoGAF mods divulge their verification methods to a degree

Well not many people have gotten varified yet.

I agree that we shouldn't even acknowledge most of the Reddit stuff though. People are just having fun over there.

Pretty sure the Trev leaks are the only legit thing to come out so far

And the only NeoGAF leaker for the NX at this point?

Thats got to be a record

Don't work in the industry, being connected to be people with solid info isn't the same. I've said as much even when I leaked the Wii Cpu or various GC media.

Trev is the only person I believe. For all we know these people on Reddit know we're desperate (some of us atleast lol) for NX news and they're just toying with us for laughs.

Didn't know that, if people really have to post reddit rumors they should at the very least be "verified" (whatever that means) and they shouldn't be posted otherwise imo

Yeah I know, I was saying that your position and info is a lot more believable than a lot of the guys on reddit.

Hmm I don't quite understand what you mean, so you think that there's reason to believe some of these reddit rumors are true because they wouldn't want to post on a forum like this and be banned?

The Wii U failed at everything but first party support really. The OS was slow and clunky and would freeze, even at version 5.5 it's garbage. It's friends list and online isn't on par with the others. No party chat, the Eshop is trash with no shopping cart and it's slow. The specs were awful, they somehow released a weaker cpu than the 8 year old 360 in 2012.

The marketing was atrocious, they didn't differentiate it enough from the Wii, and the Wii U was such a stupid name, that many thought it was just a tablet controller add-on. Simply calling it the Wii 2 would have even saved some of those headaches.

And the lack of an internal hdd was a joke, not everyone wants to buy an AC powered external HDD to store their games on.

The gamepad was an expensive mess with a cheap resistive screen, was too big and didn't really enhance games at all or changed the way we played.

It was a small box with low power draw (the PS4 used 250w peak on the launch day model and most people seem fine with that) and advertised off tv play, all things that cater to a Japanese market where houses are smaller, and most houses have one or two televisions. It was never going to work out for the west and the west wasn't taken into consideration at all in its design.

Edit:

And let's not forget the embarrassing re-reveal at E3 2012 where people thought they'd blow the lid off all those secret projects they were working on during their year of radio silence. We ended up getting nothing but Reggie fucking around with some Zombi face changing demo, and lots of NintendoLand and Reggie spinning Arkham City Armored Edition as "not the same game, not the same content".

And the Wii U was barren for year 1 because it lacked third party support, and it's other major device, the 3DS, was floundering because it was another failed gimmick that didn't catch on, was overpriced, and also not getting too much third party support.

Al they went full panic mode and pumped out incredible titles in 2012-2013 for the 3DS and cut the price in early 2011 to save that clusterfuck. It's now doing ok.

Then by the time they went back to the Wii U it was essentially dead, with Mario Kart, Smash and Amiibo providing tiny boosts while DKCTF failed to sell over a million copies after its predecessor sold over 6M on Wii. They tried to fill in the gaps by partnering with other studios and picking up dead projects like Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third, TW101, SMTxFE All sales bombs. They're expensive Xenoblade investment also bombed and got no marketing in the west.

Then a star fox tech demo was shown behind doors, still looks rough around the edges today, Zelda was a no show at E3 2014 and then delayed indefinitely in 2015, when it was all but confirmed the Wii U couldn't be saved and the DeNa NX name drop pretty much meant the end. All major projects after that likely got switched to NX or at least are getting NX ports as the primary focus.

Sigh... yeah. I still bought one earlier this year just to get a handful of really good games, but I don't know what I'm going to do with the Wii U even 12 months down the line. If the NX is backwards compatible with it (doubtful) I'll probably chuck it.

To be honest though, as someone who's already gone full PC, the thing I'm mostly interested in from Nintendo is another good handheld. As someone who still prefers core games to mobile games, the handheld experience like the 3DS is still my go-to portable entertainment device. I expect Nintendo's next handheld will have more good Nintendo franchise games along with continuations of the 3DS's 3rd party support and it might even grab some of the Vita developers, basically every Japanese developer that hasn't already gone to mobile.

Man, if that shit had a really good screen and a few apps (YouTube, Netflix, TweetBot, etc.) it would feel really complete, but I'm not gonna expect that much from Nintendo, nor should I expect an OS that feels modern. No, what we'll continue to get are devices that feel like 90's Japanese appliances that happen to have a few bits of really good software.

If it really is even slightly more powerful than the PS4 I'm considering that a pleasant surprise. Who knows if they'd actually be able to make it sell like that this time, but when it comes to first party Nintendo games I'm good at that level of hardware.

I'm sure some Nintendo fans would find something like this boring...but I love it. LOVE IT.

Oh god, Monster Hunter on this thing. Now I'm depressed a portable like this from Nintendo will probably never happen.
