SKINS WILL CRUSH YOU

As a Cowboys fan, I always root for the whole division in other games... I never root against a rival for the sake of standings in the division race, I'd rather my team get a wild card from a strong division then win a weak division. How do you Redskins and Eagles fans feel about this? My redskin fan friends can't understand my logic.

haha,

my point is, I may hate the Redskins, but I'd rather have the cowboys beat a 10-6 redskins team than a 5-11 one.

For college football, I pull for my conference's teams in their games (except Tennessee, but that's another thread). In the NFL, though, it's pretty much a game-by-game thing.

I can't really pull for any NFC East teams except Washington. Philly has lots of terrible fans, and the addition of Owens makes them the most obnoxious franchise in the NFL. Dallas is Dallas and nothing will ever make me pull for the Cowboys. The Giants are just kind of there... at least they have two distinct QBs now instead of one schizophrenic Collins.

That said, I like having a strong division. I'll usually root against the other division teams when I watch their games, but at the end of the season, I'd like the division to have the strongest record. Does that make sense?

Just incase you wanted to pull out the "It's only a preseason game" card.

Can you guys repeat what you were saying? I was distracted by our 5 Super Bowl Trophies.

how about, "It's only a regular season game?"

Oddly enough, I actually agree. The NFC East being the dominant division in football from the early 80's to mid 90's is what helped the Redskins, Giants and Cowboys amass eight Superbowls during that span. When the gang is strong, you're strong. I'd love nothing more then to see the division get back to those glory days. While I don't exactly root for the other teams to win specific games, my general hope is that they're all decent to good so that NFC East aura can return. Hell, I've even rooted for the Eagles the last couple years, just so they can complete the Superbowl winning set. And you're right, I couldn't care less about the Redskins beating the Cowboys if my dogs are 10-3 while the Boys are 4-9.

Rivalry games aren't nearly as fun to win if that rival isn't good. As a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, I'm glad that the Montreal Canadiens are finally decent again, as it makes those games more meaningful. As an Arsenal fan, I'd like to see Tottenham become a better club so those matches become more impactful. To me, it's just more fun.

This would've never applied to the Cardinals though, as they've sucked since time began and aren't a legit rival to anyone. Good riddance to that shit team.

Nobody is wearing the avatar. You are all liars and beggars and whores.
<---- See?

I'm going to be in Vegas this weekend btw, and I'm hitting the sportbook lounge on Sunday for the season kickoff. Putting money on Skins over the Bucs, baby!

I'm down with the 'skins. My team (Rams) left my town a little while back, I think... I had to pick a new team. My friend still likes them, even after they went to St. Louis, but they are dead to me.

The Vikings will do their part to help the skins eary by taking out the Cowboys and Eagle in the first two weeks of the season.

Of course he did, cause they won a Super Bowl. Props to you for not giving them money/props/love after that. Hell they weren't the only team to win a Super Bowl after relocating, see Baltimore.

In the summer of 1994, Mel Kiper told me that Charlotte would never have an NFL franchise. He claimed that St. Louis and Baltimore would get the expansion teams. Little did I know at the time that Charlotte would be the ONLY team to get an expansion team at the time. Jacksonville was granted a team after a significant time. As we all know, JAX, CHAR, STL, and BAL all got 'new' teams.

I've always thought there was a conspiracy with the later 'expansion' teams however. Pretty convinient that both Baltimore and St. Louis won Super Bowls soon after their "relocation."
