Reggie is going to get his ass pounded by the PS4.
Simply poetry.

Hey look Killer Instinct. A game Modern Rare couldn't make because they didn't make any worthwhile games this generation.
Well looking at this thread Reggie DID do his job. Very well in fact.
Based on what they are offering and the price point they are offering I see no reason they can't hit 5-6 million on sales by the 1 year anniversary and KZ should see about 2 million or so. Will it outsell Mario, of course not but your claim that two competing launch lineups that include killzone and forza will not outsell a single game is just crazy talk.

I agree with Reggie. Both launches are plagued with up-ports and sequels with a few interesting things in between.
I wouldnt make too bold predictions, this will be the first console launch in 8 years. The world has drastically changed, I wouldnt just expect games to sell millions. Look how many copies games sell on 160 million ps360.
He's right. If you look at the libraries each system will have by the end of 2013 the Wii U will be significantly ahead of the other 2.
Much of Neogaf is more into technology than games so to those people this seems laughable, but that's not what Reggie is talking about, he's saying games.
Mario 3D world looks and plays like its being phoned it. It will be the worst platformer of the fall and will be buried alive by Puppeteer, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost Worlds and yes even Knack.
Mario games haven't been fun since at least 2010 some people would say even earlier than that.
Why? Are people buying a Wii U because of hus comments?
Complaining about Nintendo using sequels and rereleases and concluding that they don't have a chance against their competitors. What does this have to do with anything?
This thread is not going to end well.
It hasn't changed for the people who have made home consoles so successful. Gamers tastes have changed and that is why Ninetendo is less relevant these days. The COD's, battlefields, killzones, AC, GTAs, tomb raiders, uncharted's, and other will sell boatloads on new hardware just like they do now.
I think the this exemplifies that there are just differences between people. For many grown-ups, such a slavish insistence on production values isn't always necessary. Critically, Nintendo games are functional and have superb gameplay. There are still no platformers that are mechanically better than Mario or Donkey Kong. Rayman may look prettier at times but it's not as sound mechanically. LBP may have better production values but its platforming mechanics are a joke.
Meanwhile, games like Skyward Sword, X, Pikmin 3, etc. are high budget affairs which look and play great, and are AAA in every sense of the word (except perhaps marketing budget). Meanwhile Mario Galaxy 2 came out only 3 years ago and you're acting like "they just don't make 'em like that anymore!" The DKCR series is very high quality both in terms of visuals and animation quality. The sheer amount of animated life given to each level is extremely impressive.
Games like Metroid Prime: Other M focused a lot on presentation, to the game's detriment overall. But even on a pure presentation level, games like Mario Kart still look insanely impressive, and then you also have games like Kid Icarus: Uprising and the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game that are very high on the presentation quality scale. Honestly the idea that Nintendo only puts out "cheap" games is entirely incorrect. Take a look at Sony's smash clone for an example of "cheap" presentation, then look at Smash Bros.
All of this, and I barely even mentioned 3DS, which has a pretty massive stack of high-quality, well presented experiences on it.
If what you want is purely about western-style storytelling, then sure, Nintendo isn't the best place to be. But to conflate that with "presentation" and defining "AAA" is myopic at best.
What did the last killzone sell (on a 70-80 million install base)?
Reggie's schtick is old and tired.
"Meh" would be a compliment for WiiU sales in 2013 YTD. Nintendo would trade Waluigi straight up for "meh" sales results. Instead, WiiU is a joke so far and Nintendo has to hope that this lineup of IPs that it's trotting out once again is enough to get those sales to "meh" territory, if not better.
You can be a troll when your platform is even somewhat successful. You're just a colossal idiot when you troll despite initial shipments of your platform from last November are STILL on store shelves.
My body is ready... for better leadership.
No he is not right at all. PS4 and Xbone have more games this holiday than the WiiU.
by the 1st year anniversary for sure; but definitely not in the first few months and by January.Based on what they are offering and the price point they are offering I see no reason they can't hit 5-6 million on sales by the 1 year anniversary and KZ should see about 2 million or so. Will it outsell Mario, of course not but your claim that two competing launch lineups that include killzone and forza will not outsell a single game is just crazy talk.
It's actually not a bad strategy to say "To some, X may be great for ____, but we think we fill this Y need gamers have" vs "They're MEH, we rule." Because no one's going to buy that. Get people to consider your console as a supplement and to believe you're not out of touch with reality.
What else is he supposed to do when talking about franchises that are old and tired?
They also just funded Platinum's most expensive game (an original ip) which is bombing spectacularly.
A lot of those launch games are multiplatform but not on the Wii U, so it sounds more like someone saying that a party sucks because they weren't invited. They wouldn't call third party Wii U games "meh".Why would someone say "meh" to the competition? To throw mud. To get people talking. To get people riled up. Cause 'controversy'. Does that sell systems? Duh obviously not. But it shows a bit of fight, even if they are scared shitless and are in a positron of weakness they obviously want to appear as the opposite.
It comes across as arrogant but at a time like today; announcing a price drop, a new device and release day dates it's about creating an illusion of control and confidence...even if you can see though it.
Could have done with more class but this is the guy who uttered the words "I'm about kicking ass" when walking on stage for the first time.
I could sell Nintendos amazing franchises better than Reggie.
I would hope that after 25+ years of re-using the same formula and mechanics that Nintendo's platformers would be good, that doesn't make me want to play them rehashed to infinity. I'd take a mechanically less competent title, yet innovative, different, and with superb production values like LBP over any of the derivative and stale 2D platforms Nintendo has been quick to churn out. I've probably had more fun with co-op LBP than I have with any Nintendo 2D platformer since the SNES days.
I also wouldn't classify Skyward Sword or Pikmin as "AAA". The former is a shell of a series that was once looked upon in reverence by core gamers alike, only to be watered down with the most absurd amount of ridiculous hand holding and terrible production values in comparison to true "AAA" content we get today. Zelda used to set the bar, and now it looks just sad in comparison to what other studios are doing. Pikmin is a quirky niche title that seems like a fairly safe sequel to a series that was never all that big to begin with.
And as for Other M? If that's "big budget", it just shows you how far Nintendo has dropped off in terms of quality control (I realize it was a joint project). This title should have never been green lit and is an embarrassment for the series.
So what you're left is Mario Galaxy 2. Yeah, it released 3 years ago. One truly AAA title in three years, and I'm supposed to be satisfied with that output?
It's why I haven't picked up a Wii U and probably won't for years. Nintendo simply does not stack up anymore.
I guess there ARE people that like all of the safe and cheap titles Nintendo churns out that hardly deviate from a given formula or presentation, but there are also a lot of previous Nintendo die-hards that haven't felt the same level of quality and magic that used to set standards for the industry. If Nintendo had more Mario Galaxy 2 type productions, at least the Wii U would probably be doing GameCube numbers or better. Now you're left with a company that hardly has a core fanbase anymore and the casuals have all moved on.
Bad.Please tell me, you are refering to the game's colourfull action, please
How bad is it?
Except they don't. Wii U has more exclusives in this second half of the year than both combined and many of the same third party games, in addition to a couple they aren't getting like Batman and Splinter Cell.
Can you sell the 2DS?

Well I would hope they do considering they are beginning their second year on shelves.
Heck yeah, looks like it's gonna be really good. Where have you been?
Reading about the part where the game is launching with six characters. Six. Characters.
But the price includes an additional 2. So its $20 for 8 characters. $40 comes with a port of the original + skins and additional DLC
I thought Iwata is now CEO of Nintendo of America?
If you think that's a good plan for your game, I got a bridge to sell you.

Man I can't believe so many people are taking "Meh" as some huge mudslinging ordeal. Seriously meh. That's not even a negative word at all, it's just.. indifferent. There's absolutely no controversy at all about what he's saying here at all, no insults, nothing.
